Functioning, I have a Dreamcast (isn't currently in use), and a couple first-gen Xboxen for XBMC and a handful of games. I think I still have a couple broken PS2s. The early revisions were pretty lousy. I went through 2 and said the 3rd was the last. When it died, I just threw it all in a box. I'll get another run out of a few titles once emulation improves, but I'm not buying another ps2.
I've seen nothing compelling enough to make me buy a current-gen console. It's as bad as the movies...sequel, sequel, sequel, and only 1 out of 10 is actually worth anything. Yes, the Wii has some neat stuff, but the minigames are the fun part for me, and I don't entertain folks at my home often enough to warrant the purchase. Video bowling gets old with just a couple people.
Adding to something said earlier: They stop being "next-gen" consoles well before they've been out for over a year folks. My car isn't next-gen, despite being just as new as the 360. Stop repeating marketing buzzwords please. It's sheepish.

Windows doesn't need that folder. Whatever created it obviously hasn't needed it....just get rid of it. If something complains, recreate it.
I predict much fun will be had. Congrats on whatever you graduated.
Same as always. Not long enough to justify the cost.
I quit smoking about 8 months ago. I had smoked for about 12 years or so. It wasn't easy, but it was a no choice situation, which helped. I managed to quit during the must trying time in my life, so I can't imagine a reason worthy of starting the habit back up. I still have a bunch of cigars though, and I'm undecided if I'm going to have a nice one to celebrate one year of no cigarettes.
bet they're not that clean anymore
I was about to ask how the fuck you kept them so clean, but then I looked at the image path.
The best advice anyone should give you for that question is to go out and try them at the store. At least see what is comfortable keyboard and mouse wise. Tastes vary...
I love the MX518, and it's a popular mouse in general. Lots of features for the price, and it has proven to be durable.
I have 3 different sets of headphones, and every damned one sounds a lot different than the others. For gaming, I alternate between a Labtec set that cost me 13 bucks, and a overpriced SteelSound 5Hv2 set. They both sound great to me, but for different things. The third set is a SenHeiser studio monitor set, but honestly, they don't sound that much better than the Labtec set, and they make my ears sweat more. I'll probably give those to family.
No real advice on keyboards. I use a Nostromo N52 for gaming. I wear out keyboards fairly readily, but the SteelSound 6g is proving to be durable. Other than that, I use 5-15 dollar keyboards for a couple years and then replace them.
Disclaimer: I don't suggest spending the money on SteelSound stuff unless you're just looking to spend too much money. I got the stuff for free, so I'm not being a hypocrite

If you're basing it all on looks, then it's 100% subjective.

If you count half-siblings:
6 brothers (3 of which were old enough that I didn't ever live in the same house, but we were in the same town.)
3 sisters
Good:
-I have a family. I don't talk to a few of them , but I cherish all of them. ...always felt sorry for "only" children.
-If my life fell apart today, I'd have a place to go that would take me.
-My older siblings were a little wild. I was the 'smart kid' and when you put that with two parents tired of troublesome kids, it meant I could do pretty much whatever I wanted. Never had a curfew. Never grounded.
-Having nieces and nephews.
-I'm sure there's more
Bad:
-I only knew hand-me-downs until I was the oldest male child.
-It made me a bit stingy. I prefer to have my own space, my own time etc.
-We were poor, and poor+big family sucks. So does all the shit that poor kids put up with.
-Guilt by association sucks. One older brother was/is nothing but trouble, so growing up under his shadow was no fun.
-Very few have made the trip to see me at MY house. It's a financial issue at the core, but it still sucks.
-I'm sure there's more.

On the same token, why is Hillary tolerated considering what her husband did? Bill sure wasn't faithful, or Christian in his actions, but she stayed with him. It's almost as if she condoned it.

Maybe he should beat his wife more so she doesn't say anything without his approval?

You have roundabouts in AZ? The closest I've seen are some weird ass things in southern Florida. They still were not roundabouts though.
Yeah, that doesn't read particularly well. What I was trying to say was that even windowed, I still have room for the "links" toolbar to be displayed and not feel crowded or cluttered. For some reason, I went on to explain why I do it, despite the fact that it doesn't matter in the scope of my question. It's been a long week, and I'm in the progress of chemically forgetting it. So what's the point in having all these guns? Just to say you have them, is it a hobby, for hunting, or do you just go to the range and shoot off a few rounds? I don't see the point in owning more than 2-3 guns...
Most of mine I inherited, so they have sentimental value.
For the most part, they're all worth more money than I have in them, not that I'm planning to sell them (due to reason 1)
I don't hunt, but I go shooting at least a few times a year. I used to hunt, but honestly, there's not much skill in the majority of hunting I've seen. It's just luck, patience, and technology. That, and well, when I was about 16 or so I realized that it's cruel unless I'm gonna eat it. Fuck cleaning the meat though, so I just acquire wild game meat from friends/family now.
When I lived in a crappier place, they protected my home and loved ones (no to mention my stuff). This without firing a round. What's mine is mine, and I will protect it. I'm not religious, and have no qualms toward removing a threat to my wife or myself.
As stated previously in this thread, I'm from Mississippi. Do I need another excuse?
FFLINK13:
Do you maximize your browser window? I ask because I don't, and find that I can still have my 'links' bar across the top in any browser I've used. I use it for those links I open frequently, which saves me from scouring a large bookmark/favorite list. They don't even have complete names...just initials and a unique icon for each site.
I also don't like that the stop, refresh, and home buttons are not grouped with the forward and back buttons (not to mention the giant address bar). I mostly use the keyboard to perform these functions, but still, I like them to be together in case I happen to have my hand on the mouse already and opt to click w/it. Do you prefer the IE7 layout for this? Folks I've asked either don't care or dislike it.
Disclaimer: I have a large WS monitor, so I realize my window management habits might be different. I know they changed a lot when I went WS.

FWIW, I consider running stops much worse than speeding, as you're a much more serious danger in that situation. I think the tickets should have been much higher.
As for your question, the last ticket I got was a couple years ago. It was for speeding on a motorcyle, which isn't hard to do really. The ticket was $170 and some change. About 3 years before that, I got a speeding ticket in my car, and I think it was about $125. It was a different county, and I wasn't speeding as bad in the car, so maybe that's why it was cheaper.
I had a ticket or two when I was a teenager, but the last of those was probably 9 years or so before the newer ones, and I don't recall the fines, as I went to traffic school for those.
Oh yeah, I got a ticket in college, but I have a family member at the PD in that town, so I traded computer work for getting out of the ticket.

When you make left turns, don't cut the corner of the left lane on the road you're turning onto. It's a habit older drivers develop, so this may not even be an issue.
When I had my test, I just had to drive a big block, taking right turns at every light until I turned left back into the DMV. It was a 2 mile trip tops. When I had to take it again in my 20s (let my out-of-state license expire while in college), I actually had to do all the stuff you'd expect. Go figure.
Don't be so paranoid that slow down too much for railroad tracks etc.
If you normally drive a manual, consider taking the test in an automatic, just to remove the fear of stalling etc.

OT I know, but when I rebuilt my XP box recently, I made it match the rest of my PCs in that it has no adobe software other than a flash plugin. I've long thought that no Adobe product I have ever loaded was trouble free. In fact, they each had at least one thing that seemed a deliberate attempt to counter the user's productivity.elbekko wrote:
...worse, as loading PDFs.
Flash is a necessary evil these days, but that's about all I can stand from Adobe. Photoshop is not needed, and I refuse to add to the illusion that it's worth the price by pirating it. I can do all the image editing I need in one of several other apps.
Oh, and Acrobat is a steaming pile of shit. I mean it, pure shit. There is absolutely no reason for a document viewing (not even creating) app to perform so badly on modern hardware. There are a handful or so of other apps that can outperform Acrobat while still supporting the PDF options used in all but .001% of PDF files. Reader V.8 is much faster than previous versions, I'll agree on that, but it's still nowhere near as fast as some of the alternatives.
/currently using Sumatra for PDFs while I'm in a portable apps phase. No editing, but how often is that really needed anyway? First time I need that, I'll load something else. Not holding my breath until then though.
I've been using FF since it was Phoenix .1, I've never seen memory usage see folks complain about unless the browser hung. I don't think I've had more than a 200-300 mb used since they changed the name from Firebird or whatever it was for a while there. Mind you, I don't have 1000 fucking extensions loaded, and the ones that I do are nothing crazy. I can only assume that I'm either very very lucky, or there is something different between the way I use/maintain a browser vs lots of other folks. Do you have to keep 50 tabs open for weeks or something? Does it happen with a vanilla install with no extensions?
How many of FF users don't see 600mb+ of memory eaten by FF?
I use noscript and judiciously control what sites get to use java on my PC. I block ads on all sites I don't frequent, and even then I'm selective about it. Maybe those things help, dunno. Thinking about it, the only thing I can think of that I've never got to work in FF is a java frontend for OWA. I wasn't too surpised that a Microsoft web frontend doesn't play well with other browsers, but further testing shows it works in FF under Linux and OSx, as well as Safari. I don't know why it doesn't work on my desktop. The problem was not fixed by my last upgrade and rebuild, so Outlook Web Access joins Netflix video streaming as things I need IE for.

Yes sir, I like it.
SP never really did anything for me, as they were just another MTV band pandering to the teenage masses. I thought 2 or 3 songs from their earliest stuff was okay, but it just seemed that every new album sounded more and more like lots of other stuff at the time. This is true for lots of bandsthough, so I'm not really singling them out for anything with that comment.
Log rocks though. Even Mr Horse would agree.

I think that playground name calling is best left on the playground. It doesn't matter is the messages are aimed at you, they are a distraction. I've left numerous servers not because I was being insulted directly, but because of the constant childish spam. It detracts from the game for me, and I suspect, the majority of folks.
I don't think one should get kicked/banned for something like 'lag' unless the messenger is being obnoxious about it. Noob, N00b, boob, jew, fag, ghey and whatever other misspelled words are cool this season......those are just childish insults. Grow the fuck up, or GTFO.

I wouldn't bypass it, I would replace it. Find an in-line fuse the same rating, and solder it in. Assuming that's possible given space limitations etc. I haven't had need to take this set apart yet, but that fuse type should have easy enough to access leads on the backside. If you haven't soldered much, I'd consider asking a friend that has.White-Fusion wrote:

I'll vote against Bose. I've had a few sets of their larger speakers, and I've just not been super pleased with any of them. IMO, they've earned their negative reputation. "No highs, no lows? Must be Bose". Every set I've used were not satisfactory on their own. It took blending them in with speakers sporting better highs and lows.
I'm not a big fan of the Logitech speakers either. I have a set of 5500s currently, and I've had other Logitech sets. I got the 5500s based on what I can in hindsight only assume were the opinions/reviews of teenagers, as the only thing thing these speakers produce easily is the repetitive bass-heavy thumps. Turn most of the bass off, and twiddle all the e-knobs, and yes, you can get a decent sound out of them. Not great, just decent. They're only worth keeping because I got them for about 60% off a couple years back.
Poseidon recommends a great set of speakers. I have a friend with those, and I've always liked how they sound. Very good range for their size. Probably will be my next set, as I'm completely over 5.1 computing.
My own personal rule for speakers is to never buy a set without hearing them in as similar a setup as I can to my own.

First, I fully understand you didn't recommend Sony Vegas.
Vegas is a pretty decent program, but it is not especially user friendly. I would never recommend it for casual video editors. The overwhelming majority of folks need/want a point and click solution, and Vegas is not that.

It took less than 15 seconds to find this in the fraps help:
Guessing from comments and the actual question itself, tmpgenc may be too complicated for you if you're unwilling to research some on your own. You might want to stick with MS movie maker or whatever else you may be comfortable with. Maybe Nero Recode (it's actually pretty good). Why is the AVI movie generated by Fraps so big? How can I reduce the size?
The filesize is big because there isn’t enough time to encode the movie while the game is running. The movie frames are slightly compressed, but still require a large amount of disk space due to the high resolutions. Once you have finished capturing you should convert the saved AVI into one of the popular compressed movie formats such as mpeg or divx. Recommended programs for doing this are tmpgenc (Tsunami Mpeg Encoder), and VirtualDub.
I'm with rh27 on this one.
thanks?
I'll 2nd that. I have the BFG 8800GT and it's great card for the price.
My signal downstairs was only 40%, so I ran a wired line straight down, and put in a 2nd AP for downstairs. It works great, plus I have wired ports on hand for my old xbox (xbmc) or anything else that comes along.
If you do your research, you can get 2 wireless routers that jive together. Otherwise, you'd have to configure a different ssid for each. That will still work (be sure to set to different channels), but it's not as clean feeling.

I think Nebraska produces a great majority of our beef, so I'd like to keep that one.
If it hasn't been said already, there shouldn't have to be a law against something like this. Common decency should supersede any other thought.
