This system is already in place; whoever shoots the pilot in the head with the m95 first earns the right to fly.

Wtf are you guys talking about? Multiple post? If you mean this got posted like 3 times due to server lag, then I certainly didn't see it. I pushed the post button ONCE. And if you are talking about reading other posts about this, I'm pretty damn sure they were posted AFTER this one. Check the times. I posted this last night. Seriously, half the people that piss and moan about using the search button are morons that troll the forums without paying attention to post order or posting times.
Yep, thanks to the huge number of new bugs the EA team introduced with 1.2, they decided to postpone the Euroforce release for an undisclosed number of weeks. It's on the official site if anyone wants to read it.

They even had that countdown to download message popup every time you logged into BF2. That's a pretty jacked up joke. Once the counter reached 1 day, they changed their minds. Lol, I can't say it's that big of a surprise, but they really need to test their code a hell of a lot more before releasing it.

If you want, you can get the plane goin down the runway at him, then bail out. He'll get run over, but you won't get a TK. You may die however, due to the plane hitting you as well, but that doesn't always happen.
It's great that you can open up on someone standing right in front of you and actually hit them now! Before 1.2, if you weren't prone, every bullet you fired would fly AWAY from the guy about to shoot you point blank in the face.
I don't know about getting 100FPS, but most people seem to say that 2GB of RAM helped them greatly performance-wise. I'd try that out first before dumping any extra cash into a high-end video card or new board/CPU.
Apparently EA has no clue about the laws of physics. With the speed the missles travel at, there is no way in hell they could possibly make those tight turns. Someone needs to beat their programmers over the head with a big Physics textbook.
You mean 1.2, right? And yea, the new AA system is extremely overkill. Basically, if they get a lock on you, you're dead. The only way to survive in choppers is to fly low and sneak up on the AA sites.
Just played some Iron Gator earlier, and realized that the Apache and Hind still have 14 rockets and just as much armor as before. I'm pretty surprised that EA left them alone, but I'm not complaining. I love the Apache, and now it's by far the best chopper in the game. The AA is still a bitch to avoid, but the destructive power remains . I didn't notice anything else in SF that managed to dodge the nerfing, did any of you?
The AT bug is really annoying. The first game I played, I had at least 3 AT rockets go right through the APCs I was trying to blow up. I thought they said they made it so that sort of thing would happen LESS...
You'll likely get nowhere. Just find some other servers to play on since a) chances are not great that a server admin will read your plea, and b) they'll likely not care if they do read it. I've got 3 bans from random servers, 2 for accidental mass TKs, and 1 for using arty too much (lol). They were for stupid reasons, and none came with warnings, but I know there's nothing I can do about it now. Point is there are thousands of other servers, so don't sweat it. You can find a lot of good servers.
Don't have it, don't want it.
Another way to do it is to join a 64 player map like Dragon Valley or FuShe Pass that has ~10 people playing. Get yourself a jeep or apc and just flag hop to get 4 team points for each full capture. As soon as I hit 200 game hours, I joined a Dragon Valley map like this and instantly got the Legion of Merrit Ribbon. I ended with 70+ team points since the round lasted like 45 minutes.
Fly in Bomb mode the majority of the time. To do this, press the number 2 or whatever key you have it bound to. Check the Options -> Controls menu to be sure. This will let you spot the ground targets since it will put a nice big box / triangle around them. This will also help your dogfighting since you can sneak up on an enemy jet without giving them the tell-tale missle lock tone.
As far as losing enemy planes, just fly erratic as hell, and do lots of loops with hard turns. On maps that aren't coated in a dense cloud layer, you can also fly straight towards the sun, which will cause your opponent to lose sight of you.

That isn't true at all. I got 4,000 grapple throws in about 1.5 - 2 hours, and my SPM only dropped by a whopping 0.01. Oh noes! The only way it will hurt your SPM is if you manage to take like 20 hours to accomplish the same feat, or you are brand new to the game and have very few hours to begin with.birdman69 wrote:
The grappling hook is a bullshit badge to begin with. Look at your SPM since you tried going for that badge. It went WAAAAAAAAYYYYY down. And for what......? A silly ass badge. If they came out with a suicide badge, would you go for that too?
In theater does not mean time as SAS/SEAL/etc...
For the SEAL and MECSF ribbons you need:
50 hours total on Iron Gator, Leviathan and Devil's Perch.
For the SAS ribbon you need:
50 hours total on Warlord, Ghost Town and Night Flight
This is the same for the other factions, just remember that the SAS/Spetz maps are not always against the same opponent, so this will get you credit towards 2 different "theaters."
The 4 theaters are:
SEAL vs. MECSF
SAS vs. Insurgent
SAS vs. Spetznatz
Spetznatz vs. Rebels
*note* you must have been on each of these maps at least one time to get the ribbons (ie you can't play 50 hours on warlord, with 0 on Ghost Town, and 0 on Night Flight and expect to get the SAS ribbon)
So, Stratocaster, you have 43.5 hours in the SAS vs. Insurgent theater, which means you need to play 6.5 hours on Night Flight / Warlord to get the Insurgent Ribbon.

At the moment, getting to 2LT doesn't get you a damn thing. Stop refering to what you think will happen as if it is a known fact. EA isn't going to put in 2 new unlockables and then tell 99% of the bf2 players that they can't use them until they get 200,000 points. They will most likely shift it downward so the extra unlocks start earlier, therefore giving the higher ranked people more as well.Drunkaholic wrote:
No it won't. the L96 is the second sniper unlock because you would normally only be able to use it on maps with Europeans. This way, you can unlock it for Vanilla maps, i.e. Karkand.jhoo8116 wrote:
The sniper gun for the Europeans: L96A1
It's essentially the Arctic Warfare Magnum in CounterStrike.
Will this be the unlock?
Many questions linger; for one, if EuroForce is meant to be integratable with BF2-Vanilla, then it makes no sense that the L96A1 will be the new unlock (kinda like the sniper unlock being M95, instead of M24 or SVD). If the L96A1 is the unlock, then EuroForce will require a new icon.
And for those of you saying you can't try the new unlocks out even if you're 2nd lieutenant, check your math. At 2nd Lieutenant you will have exactly enough unlocks.
The SF choppers are not the same. In terms of gun placement, yes, but in terms of speed/manuverability/rocket splash damage/armor, they're very different. The Hind is virually a flying tank since it takes 3 AT rockets to bring it down.Kamikaze17 wrote:
let me guess... all the tanks and planes and choppers will be the exact same as the ones already here. just like they made the choppers the exact same in SF. they should make a chopper with MGs on the side that the pilot can use, kinda like an anti infantry chopper or something? i dont know. but something different than the attack choppers we have now.
I had a clan noob kick me so he could play on the full server. The thing was he ignored all the guys that had 0 points and no squad, and instead kicked me while I was busy flying my heli and about to get a gold star with like 70-80 points. Clan servers attract morons that are given admin status. Sometimes you just have to go on an official server.
The very front of the well deck is shallow enough to do it. The problem is on Iron Gator there's usually a bunch of guys with AT kits waiting for whatever comes down there. But it'd work on the other carrier maps too I guess.
It will never say Sgt. Major is the next rank. But when you do hit 50,000 points, you will still get it. It's the same way with 1st Sgt. vs. Master Sgt. C'mon, you should have noticed this .12lettername wrote:

That video does not show a hack, it shows what OTHER people see when you use the multiple grapple trick. The game messes up and shows you using the last weapon you held before tossing grapples. Since you went and got your expert grapple this way too, you're basically accusing yourself of hacking, even though the rest of us know it's just an animation glitch.

You can't have 2 grapples though. Supply crates won't give you another one, and you can't pick up one that your ally/enemy left behind. What do you mean?F.Rabshaw wrote:

If they don't give us more unlocks with the patch, they'd be making anyone at Sgt. Major / 2LT wait until the realease of Euro Force to even try out the 2 new guns. I don't think that would sit well. You'll get more unlock slots.
Just got the SEAL and MEC:SF Ribbons. My times were:
50 hours in theater (SEAL vs. MEC:SF)
31 hours as SEALs
19 hours as MEC:SF
I have them in BFHQ, but they haven't shown up on the BF2S stats page yet.

PulpO, it looks like you had exactly 50 hours in theater for Spetz, but you've only got 31.5 hours for SAS. From what I've been reading in other threads, a lot of people seem to be getting them when they reach 50 hours IN THEATER. I really don't know why it took longer for some people, but the latest people got them at 50 hours.
I myself am at 40 hours in theater for both Seals and MECSF (playing Iron Gator almost exclusively), so hopefully when I get 10 more hours in, I'll know for sure.

I remember having this guy on my team months ago. I'm surprised he still wastes his time doing that B.S.
I just had a really smart guy named fps_sad follow me around Iron Gator, trying to get the APC I was driving. When it ran low on ammo, I took it back to base, threw a mine under it, then tossed a grenade to blow it up. I wanted another to respawn so I'd have more ammo, but what I got was fps_sad running over to the APC and jumping in it right as the mine blew. The guy's got less than 100 points, but really now...I yelled "negative" "go, go, go" like 10 times when I saw what he was about to do. Some people are just so damn eager to take the vehicle you're in.
Just because BFHQ says Master Sgt. is next, doesn't mean you won't get 1st Sgt. when you reach 20,000 points. Don't worry about it, if you have the badges, you will get the higher rank.
A program called "JoyToKey" will let you bind left mouse click to one of your joystick buttons. I have mine bound to my trigger, so it actually serves 2 functions: MG fire and spotting.

I haven't had a vehicle refuse to move, but I have had a transport chopper try to lock me inside. I flew the thing to my destination, landed, and then tried to exit. No luck. E E E E E E...still no luck. I had to wait like 2-3 minutes before it actually decided I was allowed to leave. Damn choppers with a mind of their own.
Yea, sometimes you can throw medic/supply bags through walls. I've even had a medic bag land on some guy that needed health on the deck below me on Iron Gator . Worked out well.Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:
This isn't a cheat. What you are seeing is a graphical bug known as clipping. You seeing their medic bags is no different than when some one is too close to a fence or wall and you can see their legs sticking through that wall or fence.
I always get morons on Iron Gator that hijack my boat I'm using to guard the well deck. There'll be 4 other empty boats, but they insist on hopping in mine. I usually have to say "bail out" 50 times before they get the hint. A lot of people would get that award.Kanil wrote:
How about an award for those people who hijack your FAV while you're shooting the enemy attack chopper?
They then drive off at breakneck speed swerving left and right ruining any hope of you getting a good shot off, and you're both mauled by a TV missile moments later. Can we get a ribbon for this?
Also: I've got the...
Chopper Pilot Ribbon of Education
Anti-Armour Badge of Dumb-Ass
Noob-Tube Ribbon of Merit
Medic Ribbon of Non-Compliance
How about you?
Hitchhiker Ribbon

I just had that sort of thing happen to me on daqing about 30 mins ago. I was busy bombing target after target, and came around on a tank only to find two infantry on my team had run over and blown up the tank as my 5 bombs flew towards the wreckage. 2 TKs, both punished. Sucks when you TK people you can't even see yet.
You know there IS a little secret area in Surge. Just crawl through the ventilation duct on the floor near the elevator. These people were probably inside there.
It's a dump folder for what looks like listings of all the little "behind the scenes" patches EA does. Notice, each one has a slightly newer version in the file name. In other words, don't worry about it, it's not of any importance.
Yes, on the rare occasion I see them. I don't see how they could possible not have met the Sgt. Major requirements, but somehow they did.
I posted about this guy a little while ago, and I got the same replies. You know, the "oh, you just aren't good enough to hit him" etc...I can do the trick everyone is trying to use to explain it, but what that guy does is beyond that. The TV missle is possible to fly while the chopper spins out of control, BUT after a few seconds without a pilot, the chopper starts to flip. When I was watching this guy play, he managed to keep it flying perfectly while guiding missles over great lengths. That my friends, is impossible without some sort of bot helping you fly. In my time playing online games, I've seen far too many bot, macro and other programs used to help people cheat. It's really not too far fetched that this guy has a little help from something that isn't quite legit.
I don't know about those saitek joysticks, I was looking at them a few weeks ago in the electronics store, and they just looked like they would fall apart. The buttons practically peeled off just looking at them. I ended up getting a Logitech Freedom 2.4 which is made of aluminum and strong plastic. I can't have my joystick falling apart mid-game, heh.
I've seen people on the US team that have an MEC skin a few times. They had blue names, but I ended up blowing them away before the name showed up and got some nice teamkills. Some strange things can happen in BF2...
The fragland article says the booster packs are expected in spring '06. Also, I don't think you will need to "hold on to" an unlock in anticipation. If they add any more guns, they will have to give people more unlock slots; otherwise anyone at sgt. major / 2LT will never see them.
Half your infantry kills are with a knife or sniper rifle; most people don't play that way so there's no way they could have it up that high otherwise.Nyte wrote:
29 %? I'm almost at 38 %.
It doesn't really mean a thing. It's just a way for people to try to rationalize why their K/D ratio is under 1.0, while this guy over here has one over 3.0. Every map in the game has at least a few vehicles in the armor, heli, or jet category. It makes no sense to avoid using them when you know damn well that you're going to run into enemies that ARE using them. Infantry vs. tanks, helis and jets get wasted. If the vehicle is there, use it.
Umm...unless it's deformed, I don't think it will do a thing. You should know by now whether the installer hangs up or not.
Unreal Tournament let you fake your death, but it wasn't too useful since you were completely helpless while in that mode. Most players would shoot you anyway.
No jets in SF, the aviator ribbon is a mistake or something that you'll be able to get later.
