Eric, good thought, thank you. I'll have to see if that is the problem, though I doubt it. I say that because I've noticed the problem when I don't even have my microphone plugged in. Furthermore, I never had this problem before 1.4. Thanks for your suggestion though, I'll definitely try it!

Hey, I'd like to revive this thread if I may. I just experienced this problem too. I've never had the problem before but since I installed 1.4 I've noticed the problem. I don't overclock anything, the only variable I have is that I have a Logitech Wireless KB and Mouse. I've only noticed the problem on the KB, particularly with the "forward" key. I thought it might be the KB itself, but I tested in notepad that I can type constantly, very fast, and it doesn't miss a beat. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem with BF2...
You SAID it, but 1.5 minutes before me. So your post wasn't actually there when I clicked "Reply"syndicat111 wrote:

A "driver special ability" means that you are a medic/engineer/support with a special ability and assist someone nearby. For instance, you have are a medic in your APC and someone near (or in?) it gets healed, thereby giving the you a healing point, and you a driver special ability.
"road kills" have always confused me, I don't think it's necessarily run over though, because I think I have a lot more than I should were that to be the case. Maybe someone else will volunteer that information.
Edit: grammar and last paragraph.

The DAO-12 is AWESOME. You have to change how you play a little bit though. You don't want to engage people at anything less than short range. You'll find that's pretty easy though. Generally I handle this by letting people see me, then ducking behind a wall or building. Inevitably they come running and as soon as they come around the corner I annihilate them no matter what they have. They have NO chance.
And really, I spend more of my time hunting down tanks anyway with the Eyrx/RPG/whatnot.
Also, I'd suggest the DAO-12 over the G3 because it is an incredible improvement over the MP5, whereas I don't think the G3 (while great) is as much of an improvement over the stock weapons.

I actually could see a sniper being a useful squad leader if he controller/defended CP's. Snipers are good because they stay well clear of the action and are harder to kill because of this. Therefore, they are good mobile spawn points, and provided long-range (if often limited) support. I think their primary benefit is as a squad leader and a mobile SP. I actually hate it when I have a sniper in my squad as just a squad member. Useless.Nyte wrote:
People are commenting on how awesome of a squad leader I am.
I agree with 1 completely. I'm curious about 2 though, why is a sniper good there? Even when I fly (heli or plane) I play a useful class so that if I have to bail out over a capture point I can actually defend or capture it. Just curious as to your logic.polarbearz wrote:

Actually, I wish they would make a map like that like they did for BF1942. They had "Coral Sea" which was just a carrier v. carrier map. That was a lot of fun.Delphy wrote:

What is e-ramming? With vehicles?
Actually, I don't really queue for vehicles either. I consider it a free-for-all. Out of all the people there, whoever gets it, gets it. If someone has been waiting and doesn't get it, too bad for him. I kind of think he shouldn't have been waiting that long and not helping the team.
That being said, I've never team killed for a vehicle, nor would I ever. I find that to be poor sportsmanship. If someone gets the vehicle instead of me, oh well. Live by randomness, lose by it, right?
So, maybe I'm that jerk you refer to, or maybe not.

Suiciding is only for when you are way too away from any point of interest. Other than that, die like a man.
Thanks guys, I guess it's good to know I'm not missing anything. I guess maybe the theory is that your squad member should be close to you. That's often not the case as we all know, but oh well. I think it'd be easier if they just put an icon on the screen like they do with the commander!
First off, yes, I did my due diligence in searching before posting this. While I'm sure this HAS been discussed, none of the topics were very clearly named so I never found it.
Moving on...when I play commander and a squad leader requests a resource (UAV, supply, etc) I actually see an icon on my command screen. Past that, I can very conveniently right click it and select "Accept"
However, when I am a squad leader, and someone in my squad requests something, I have yet to find said icon. Is that on the "squad screen?" i.e. the one where I can right click and have my squad attack/defend? If it IS there, maybe I just never see it.
Either way, I'd like to know how I can be a better squad leader and ensure I forward my squad member's requests through, because I know it frustrates me when mine are ignored (as in, I'm in a half-dead tank trying to cap a tough flag and it SURE would be nice to get some repair...).
Thanks for your advice.

I'd agree with two points, like the revive, and one point for a half. I don't see enough engineers actually reparing things other than their own vehicles, generally.
I know you're joking, but I do have to represent the Aussies on one thing, they have fought side by side U.S. troops in nearly every war we've fought, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and even our current "stupid" war. So, my thanks to them for that.stryyker wrote:

Why not let them look without hounding them? I mean, they *are* right. Granted, I agree with you, I wouldn't spend my time doing what they are doing, but if that's what they want to do, and they are legitimately right, what is wrong with it? The search for truth is never a wasted endeavor.bobroonie.bda wrote:

Okay, I did a search using "shot over" and scanned all the subject lines (reading the text was 145 pages of hits). If this has been discussed, it wasn't named appropriately....
With that disclaimer....one thing I still don't understand about the commander's arty is what "Shot over" means. When I execute a strike it will say "Artillery firing" in which case I always see the arty come down, and sometimes it will say "Shot over" Usually I'm too busy to actually watch it in all cases, and I *think* sometimes it does not come down in that case. Or, does it never come down when it says, "Shot over?"
If anyone could explain that to me I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I was still curious as to how the UAV's get to anything other than the standard height. Can anyone enlighten me on that?
I think the only times I've ever been kicked are:
1) High ping (I stopped playing on Eurogamer Pro because the ping always shows < 100, but then I end up getting kicked...go figure)
2) Using tanks and "real" weapons on K/P severs. (Needless to say, I don't feel bad about that)

How does it get down that low? That's crazy looking!
Heh, "Happy Larry's Magic Carpet Ride" kills me :-) Regardless of it's been seen before, I haven't seen it, and as NBC would say, "It's new to me!!" Thanks, buddy.
Ah, kudos to you then. :-) I do the exact same thing you do, every grammatical mistake (even my own) pains me; because really, I do like proper grammar too. Boy, don't I wish the world would agree on one language! Heh.SargeV1.4 wrote:

I'm a grammar Nazi too, but you gotta give the guys from Europe a bit of a break ;-) Frankly, I know I can't speak a word of Dutch, so props to him for being able to speak English passably correctly.
I kind of think that any badge you wouldn't normally get in the course of helping your team is a bit lame. The pistol and knife bade jump out at me on this accord. I'm sure there are others, but I don't spend much time looking at the badges, nor any time trying to attain them, so I don't know the others.
I just don't see a guy running around knifing people, in some crazy attempt to get 18 knife kills IAR as being very helpful to a team. I do see someone getting an Assault Expert bade with 40 kills IAR as probably being pretty effective.
Those are just my thoughts on badges as a whole. Also, please don't take this to mean I think those who got the expert knife/pistol/whatever badges are without skill or anything. Far be it from that, I think they are probably quite skilled (assuming it wasn't done on a K/P server)...I just don't know how much it helped the team when they were doing it. To each their own though.

All, thanks for all the info you put forth in those post. I appreciate it! I haven't had a chance to play BF2 since buying the mouse, but I'm looking forward to it! Take care.
I apologize for being uneducated on this point, but is that mapping done in .cfg files, or through the "Options" menu. The reason I ask is, if I try to assign certain keys on my old mouse via the "Options" menu, the game doesn't recognize the input from the mouse. The OS (WinXP) does however, as it performs some crazy ALT-TAB action. I'm wondering if the only way to map it would be via the mouse software, assign it to something known to BF?k30dxedle wrote:
You can map pretty much anything to anything, so yes.
You're right, the bundle is called that...the mouse itself is the MX1000. I wish I could edit the post title now...Badcomp wrote:
Isn't the bundle called the Mx3000???
But, at least Shadow893 says the MX1000 is decent. Shadow, do all the buttons work in BF2?
Right, so if you have a charging station, you probably don't have an MX3000. They stopped including a charging station, I think, because it kept breaking. I recently replaced my old Logitech Wireless KB and Mouse because they quit working after a few years. I liked them a lot though, hence the repeat purchase.
Tru dat. I love the people who are clearly motivated for individual reasons while they should be trying to help the team.Obadiah wrote:
Well, it's not always about personal skill. It's about teamwork and helping protect your team from overhead aircraft so they can cap the flags and win the war.
Also, the stepping out of the AA vehicle was a good tip. I hadn't thought of that.
I just bought a new Logitech Cordless Keyboard Mouse Combo. The keyboard is kind of, you know, whatever, a keyboard is a keyboard. I'm a little more interested in the included mouse, the Logitech MX3000. It has a whole lot of buttons and such. I was curious if anyone used it, what they felt about it, etc. I realize there are plenty of reviews out there, but I'm specifically interested in BF2 users' opinions because it's the only game I actually play...
Clearly URE_DED displays his character when he advocates TK'ing someone (or his teams vehicles) just because he wants to wait for a tank. Personally, if someone is vehicle whoring, at least I know that vehicle will immediately be brought into the battle to support the team. My solution isn't to C4 my own teams vehicles...but, maybe I just suck or something.
I'd have to disagree completely with this premise of this post too. I agree that most engys seem to spend their time riding around in vehicles, not running around on the ground repairing them. Furthermore, even if they are on the ground repairing them, I good engy will put the vehicle between himself and the line of fire.
And then there is the AT class...AT is pretty much the only class (I know Spec Ops w/C4 play some factor) that balances out vehicles. To make them more vulnerable would totally offset the game. You might as well not ever be on foot because it would basically just be vehicle v. vehicle.

Ah, see...I didn't understand that. However, looking at what Max wrote, now I get it. I guess, given that, I'm confused why there'd be any issue of stats being reset here.bubbass wrote:

Excuse to play on a server with a high ticket count. Like I said, I could easily be wrong though. I do have a tendancy to be slightly cynical.bubbass wrote:

I don't really think a GSP reverting to 1.22 is going to make EA care at all about 1.3's stability issues. I think they are going to plod ahead at whatever pace they are already going. It's like the old telephone company motto, "EA...we don't care. We don't have to."
It seems to me that "wanting to play night maps" is a convenient excuse. I guess I don't really know you though, so I could be wrong.
Not horribly exciting, I realize but, meh, I tried. You have no karma yet. Sorry!
I'm not sure everyone (myself included) would exactly understand BFROE as what one should be searching for. Granted, it makes sense after the fact, but I don't see the harm in posting some duplicitive items occasionally, especially for newer members (like me) who wouldn't know about it to begin with.k30dxedle wrote:

What a great site. Is that officially licensed by EA in anyway? I couldn't explicitly tell from what I saw. It's definitely something that should be widely spread.RedneckSloth wrote:

I guess you're right. I just put "knife only" and none of the subjects looked promising. I probably should have looked harder.DoctorFruitloop wrote:
How the hell did you manage to do a search for knife and pistol server comments on here and not find anything.
Anyway, I'm definitely curious about the "getting your stats wiped part" I guess I probably shouldn't join those servers just to annoy those people anymore. I think anyone can see via my stats that I'm not a stat padder. In fact, I've long ago given up trying to get even the basic knife badge because I don't play for stats. I can't see where, during the course of normal gameplay, I would ever get 7 knife kills. I guess if I tried I might be able to, but generally I just like to play for the fun of it and take any stats/awards that come with it.
I tried a quick search for this but didn't find anything...I won't say it was exhaustive, however.
I was wondering on the "legality" of knife only / pistol only servers. I think if I read the terms right, it is against EA's policy of a "ranked" server, right?
What are the community's thoughts on that? I'll give mine...I think it is definitely fun to play knife/pistol only, but I don't think they should be ranked. As such, I'll admit that I join those servers and kind of revel in using all weapons available until I'm kicked. Maybe this makes me a jerk, I don't know. I realize two wrongs don't make a right...but...

I'd say this would be a microcosm of the US, and the world as a whole, wouldn't you? Even in the US, there is a very vocal majority which believes the war in Iraq is going badly, from a world perspective, it's safe to say the overwhelming majority believes the war in Iraq is going badly. I'm not trying to necessarily subscribe to the "might makes right" philosophy, but I think it should at least be considered.Darth_Fleder wrote:

And yes, I do personally believe the war is going badly, we were led there for illegitimate reasons, but I don't actually think it's right to cut and run at this point either. I do think we should hold the current administration responsible for what they did, but sadly, the November 2004 elections didn't do that.
I don't think anyone would pay much over $600 for it, but I could be wrong. I also tend to build everything myself so I might have a skewed opinion of it.
If I were you, I'd start it at $600 with a BuyNow at $700. But then, it's also been about five months since I last built a system.
