A is a service that seems to run all the time. B only starts up when you play. If you uninstall PB, and reinstall you must start the game a couple of times for B to get loaded and installed. It's really weird I know, but trust me. You have to run the game and fail a couple of times and THEN go back and allow B to run (give it firewall permissions). +1 if helpful...azagthoth666 wrote:

I'm not using McCrappee, but giving BOTH PnkbstrA.exe and PnkbstrB.exe permission in the windows firewall was the key for me. I uninstalled and re-installed PB. The trick is you when you re-install PB, you can immediately give permission to PnkbstrA.exe in windows firewall, but PnkbstrB.exe will not have been installed yet. You must first join a server in game; you'll probably get kicked for LKP, but exit, and go back into windows firewall and now give PnkbstrB.exe permissions in windows firewall. Reboot and you should be good to go. I actually had to start 2142 twice and join a server twice before PnkbstrB.exe was actually created... I was finally able to get in and play without the LKP error and kick...
I finally got my punkbuster issue (Losing key packets) resolved only to install the patch and find myself getting kicked from servers more often... Some of my favorite servers are giving me a lot of trouble. You are not alone.
Nothing I've read in this thread has worked for me. I went ahead and opened a ticket with PB. Until someone else has some real success I guess I'm taking a break from 2142.....[zulu]steviep831 wrote:

While you are in armor, killing a noob hanging around a silo, he then respawns and pops out to try and "get you". You get yet another noob kill.
To BakaBakaNeko who said, "And using the Zeller doesn't mean you're a noob. I use it quite often in defensive positions or to clear a path ahead for friendly armor/vehicles."
You're much better off going as engineer. Use the defuser tool and stop wasting ammunition. If you're a sniper, get some headshots and leave defusing to engineers. Unless of course your team is full of noobs.

Otherwise, I agree with someone above that said that basically the tank is an important part of why your team will win. I would however, do my best not to kill the knifing noob.
I started getting this error message last weekend. I tried everything, but a fresh install took care of it. I'm back to playing again after almost a week off. It was so frustrating. Just try a fresh install...
The walker is a pwn machine. As a fairly decent walker pilot, I'd much rather go at it alone; jumping from seat to seat depending on what the target is. I've been able to go against other walkers at full strength and "walk" away without damage. Just a matter of strategically using your shields and environment. Getting the first missiles out always helps.
Also, I go engineer, andI always take the motion mine with me. I keep it as my default weapon when I get into a walker so it's ready when I need to hop out quickly and get rid of mines. The other useful tool of course is the repair tool. I've been known to get out of the walker and repair in the middle of a firefight with another walker or tank. Any little bit helps, but you've got to find cover...

Most of the time a lone player goes into a clan server. People are paying basically to play on the same side as their buddies. SO you get all the clan members (who usually know what they are doing) on one side and the noobs on the other side. I think that's what's happening. Usually my buddy and I can turn the tide, but sometimes, your noob teammates just work against you. We end up capping all the silos and then are the only ones that actually defend the titan. It's sad. I'll look you up Mosh, next time I log in.
I'm not completely sure if the emp does any damage at all, but I guess the hope is that you paralyze the aircraft long enough to get a few good hits in. If you completely miss the target and it crashes then you by no means get credited with the kill. I think however, if you get some hits in, you will at least get an assist. One thing I will agree with is that this game gives away team damage way too liberally. If I try to bail from a tank for example and a team mate is within blast range, I get a team kill rather than the person on the opposing team getting two kills... I've learned you just gotta go down with the ship in certain situations... uber suxs

FF off is my preferred. I hate it when that one idiot noob sits in front of the core while I'm trying to blow it! There should be a shout out in the commo rose that says, "Get the funk out of the way or else you will die from my well-placed RDX, you idiot noob!" That would be great...
I imagine that white in 2142 would really suck on the snow maps... I'm currently using green as others here.
I would say that it was further than 50 meters. Probably closer to 100m? If I were in a walker shooting that distance, I wouldn't expect that many, if any, would hit their target. But that's just the inaccuracy of the missiles. I've never experienced what you've stated though. I hope that it gets fixed for you. I can see how that would be frustrating.DerGraueWolf wrote:
No, we're not talking about targets to far away. I'm not good at guessing distances, so I'd like to describe a real situation: I stood at silo 3 of Minsk and the enemie's walker (came from silo 2) crossed the northern bridge nearby. What's that now, 30 or 50 meters?
I call it BF2 still because my wife doesn't know that I bought YET another battlefield game... Frequent words around my house are "I hate BF2..."
I am a walker whore and I've never had this type of trouble with the walker missiles. I think you understand that the missiles are more for close range attack rather than long range and they are not heat seeking by an stretch of the imagination. So I've seen a lot of missiles go astray when fired. You CAN compensate a little bit. As far as missiles diving into the ground after 20 meters or so... I've never seen it, but around that distance they will wildly go where ever they want to, and most times, not into an enemy.
I agree. I play with a buddy and often get a ping above 200... I get no lag and my buddy is never affected by my high ping. On servers that don't kick for ping, people are amazed that I have a ping over 300 but I am number one on the server.... I for one hate that I get kicked all the time. I'm running a 5200 x2 (dual core) and 2 gigs of ram. Dual 7950GTs and I still have problems. The lag is getting to be really bad. Most of the time I've got to quit or just cap silos it's so bad.
Same thing happens to me. Ever since installing Northern Strike, my ping will be great when I start up a server, but then shortly there after my ping goes to hell. I used an active port scanner and it appears that BF2142 can not properly close all the ports even after you have disconnected from a server. So it is constantly listening to the servers you were on... This is my uneducated guess. I don't know what else it could be. I've just been having such a hard time with it... It really sucks. I love the game but sometimes it gets to be completely unplayable...
You could do it back to the defenders... I've thought about using this method, but it's not easy. It would be easier to defend I guess with this tactic. You can't really throw the bait too far or else the mines won't follow, but this is definitely something I would love to try. With a support guy you can cause a lot of damage... As attackers you definitely can't use this tactic for console 1.jsnipy wrote:

My strategy for getting into console 1 is to spawn as recon and have support and medic along for the ride. Support drops a sentry at the opening... it doesn't have to be perfect... just enough to get the defenders nervous about venturing out into the open. Then I try to snipe (this is not the place for the zeller, unless you don't mind wasting precious moments every second shot) their sentry in prone position as the medic holds out the medic kit to heal as I shoot. I can usually snipe a defender or two before dying (at this point it needs to be headshots- no messin' around here). Medic can revive with support filling the void between us and the defenders with bullets. Also, once the recon gets a few good shots off and thins the numbers down, support needs to move in and start advancing with the big guns. Once you get up to the consoles, recon has to drop an APM mine up close to the enemy entrance to slow down any defenders that might respawn and want revenge. Of course support and medic cover the entrances as well. It's also nice to have a fourth squad mate to cover your back. Maybe a medic in case the first gets taken out.
Other ideas... if you have a support guy with the IDS, he can drop it on the inside wall out by the entrance to console 3. That will give you some advanced knowledge of what you're up against. Is it two guys or a horde of enemy combatants? Try and have him hide it so it's not obvious, it will last a long time even after he dies. Then he can come back and drop a sentry or a shield to help recon get his shots in. It's frustrating if you're up against really good players, but it can be fun too. Make sure you squad up!
BTW, using the IPS in the enemy titan is a lot of fun. I put it in the middle open area between consoles 3 and 4. It covers most of the fighting areas, perhaps on one of the columns. Then you can go hunt people down. They don't even know what hit them.

Is recon going to be able to RDX this thing? Camo up to it and drop all the RDX you've got? Or is it a step by step gradual destruction of the goliath, kind of like the titan? This is all very interesting to me... BTW, would love to know Afrika how to destroy the goliath with a knife...
Should work on the core too. I've been on both ends of this. Blowing up the last of the core with RDX and not getting the credit and also placing RDX down before another recon puts his down and blows it up and getting the credit because my RDX was there first.Mosh wrote:

I don't think it's useles, but it's not necessarily my first choice going into battle. If I get taken out by armor, I like to spawn back at that silo and camo over and drop a few RDXs and defend the silo. It's just such a great way to sneak up on armor. It IS useless against infantry... you'll get spotted too easily.SGT_Squirtle wrote:

I can confirm that I was able to use the SAAW and lock on to all aerial vehicles including the transports. The transports appear to still be very hard to kill though. I can usually kill the gunships with two shots. The transports often take as many as four. Usually they are out of range by then.Afrika_18 wrote:
In the patch readme it doesn't say anything about the SAAW issue where it doesn't lock on to transports. Has anyone used the SAAW in 1.20 and if so, does it lock on to flying vehicles consistently?
Also, for those complaining about the DL of the patch. I downloaded and installed from within EA link and it finished everything within half an hour or so. And I don't have a super fast internet connection...
How about doing a little research on your own before asking a retarded question like that. It's commonly believed that the Germans could have overtaken most of Western Europe... Really they only had Great Britain left as any sort of threat to their dominance. Hitler was literally on the other side of the English Channel ready to invade.adam1503 wrote:
Okay, so this is a pretty big question. A lot of Americans seem to believe that their country was solely responsible for saving Europe from Nazi occupation during WWII. They claim to have single-handedly won the war and to have saved everyone.
On the other hand, many Europeans (infact, most of the rest of the world) believe that America didn't play as crucial a role as they lay claim to. America joined the war more than half-way through, and only after they were bombed at Pearl Harbour. They also were responsible for introducing the fission bomb to the world, and for using two on Japan.
Is it just me, or are many Americans full of crap? How can they claim to have won the war and to have saved Europe from the Nazis? Who liberated much of mainland Europe from Nazi occupation? Who was able to fend off the Nazi war machine from invasion during the Blitz years?
We should clear this up once and for all: the US cannot claim to have saved Europe from the Nazis. The US did not win the war alone.
(EDIT: I wanted to add a poll here, but there doesn't seem to be an option for it...)
In your opening thread, you state that "A lot of Americans seem to believe that their country was solely responsible for saving Europe from Nazi occupation during WWII. They claim to have single-handedly won the war and to have saved everyone." Well I don't know who you are talking to, but I can't think of one historian that would say such a phrase. It's pretty well known that the Germans were close to developing their own atomic bomb and were poised to take much of Europe even though they were stretched pretty thin. Some say they were just months away from completing a bomb. WWII had many fronts, but in many of the important fronts... the Pacific and in Europe, if it hadn't been for the US, the map would look a lot different today. The US tipped the bucket in the other direction.
Will check it out. Thanks!
I played the single player the other night and played at an AI difficulty level of about 75-80%. I have to admit they enemy bots were tough. What was neat, was that I joined a squad and it asked me if I wanted to be the squad leader. Hmm... so I said no, and it was kinda neat to follow the orders of a bot squad leader.
I was in a transport ship with some retard, and he bails without telling me. I try to jump into the pilot seat to save the ship. Not enough time to stop the decent and I kill myself and the retard pilot. he punishes me for a teamkill.... I hate it when idiots try to bail really close to the ground. You're going to die!

To shed some light on the PSU issue, I would definitely go not less than 600W if you plan on running the Intel dual cores. I'm sure you could get away with less, but it's not going to run how you want it. I built an Intel dual core with a 7950 GPU and this MB and I had to throw a 650W PSU at it for it to be stable.
Do a little reaserch on the Intel's website. It should tell you all you need to know.
Also, here's a link to tomshardware.com (one of my favorite sites) and their 2006 buyers guide. Talks a little about PSUs. They have lots of reviews of other computer components, including VIDEO CARDS!!! Check it out.
Congrats on the decision to build your own computer. It is a decision you will never regret.
Firstly I would suggest if you are going to go with Intel's dual core CPUs AND are going to make this a gaming machine, I would not go with a power supply that puts out less than 600W.
Try this or this.
I know it seems like a lot, but minimum requirements for the Intel dual core and high end graphics card is going to be 550 to 600W. Trust me, I built one for someone already. And if you want to have room for future expansion... you'll need it. Plus these cables are modular, so you can remove the cables you don't need.
I would also recommend a nice sound card. For cheap you can get this. I bought one recently and absolutely love it! You won't regret it.
For video card, I'd go middle of the road for now. Something like this for fun. It'd do what you need and later you can get a dx10 card if you want. For now, this will get you by.
There are a thousand monitors out there. The two recommended already are very nice, and I would recommend. If you get a different one, just make sure it's fast (less than 8ms) and I'd like to see a contrast ratio of greater than 1000:1. But then I'm just being picky. The decision to go widescreen is purely personal, but it seems like games and software are supporting it more. Not my thing but it may be yours.
Hard drives: the Seagate Barracudas are nice. As are the Western Digitals. I wouldn't get anything less than a 250G. With the size of games these days, it's always nice to go bigger.
Ok, that's enough from me. Hope that helps a little. Good luck with building your rig. Remember to take your time and if you get stuck somewhere, don't be afraid to ask to someone. It's better to ask than f-up your investment. After that, happy gaming!

After that, happy gaming!
edit: fixed my links.

A couple of problems I have noted are the awards section.
A: I have 35 combat effcieny pins and 2 Distinguished Combat efficieny pins, but ever award that says you need a best kill streak of ten, it says mine is 2.
B: I have the explosive Gallantry badge, but not the explosive pin. the badge requires 10 in a round, the pin requires 8.
Also, Titan Destructor is Bugged.
