Title says it all really. When i first got 2142, i thought walkers would be like big metal beasts of death, but i was lucky sometimes to get 5-10 kills in em, and i do far better in a tank. Today though, went something like 40-2 in the PAC walker. So, i ask you, bf2s'ers, how do you find the walker. Is it a 2 man death-mobile, or a 2 man walking coffin.

When I used to be a 2142 player, I hated 'em (always if the others killed me lol) Anyways, if you get a walker as EU team on Gibraltar, you can get a lot points.

I used to suck in them, however, I find myself doing better and better with them overall. If not used properly, they are a huge walking coffin.

Since the motion mine bait came along it's harder to camp with them.

* Put motion mines somewhere safe (both from your and the enemies perspective)
* Toss the motion mine bait at the walker
* Walker = dead

Thinking that the Walker is a walking coffin is retarded.

agree, the walker if used properly can survive the entire round with huge scores, especially on Gibalter.

If used properly, can make a great contribution to your team, if not, a walking coffin. Raping is not my style, hence my large amount of deaths, I always try to cap flags/silos. I have seen rapers go 50 kills + in a round, without dieing.

IMO the key to the walker is patience and detection. When I play I strap one on (pds-1), which helps no one sneaking up on me and hitting me in the gooch.

I notice from commanding recently that most walker drivers don;t seem to be aware of the supply crates; either by walking away from then disappearing or by asking for one while they are almost next to one already.

Like sniping you have to consider the line of site, all it takes is 3 engy's to make you disappear in moments.

Also when someone is getting under me and away form my guns, I find taking a step back then running forward almost always kills them.

In city maps, having that second aware man onboard is crucial, for hitting those higher spots you can't reach.

*Looks at 39 kill streak.*

Who is a Walker whore? Who raping, not me!

Edit: Strange, my stats page says 39, while ingame kill streak says 100+ conquest / 60+ titan.

Walker are the closest you can get to rape.

Your largest threats would be the EMP+orbital strike combo, another good walker-pilot although the walker against walker fights are almost everytime unfair one will have the greater advantage such as supply-crate nearby a random engineer who helps to shot, terrain to take cover behind etc.

In my experience to do the so called ownage with a walker the key is to play defensive never run off in the open unless you know the surroundings advance with your team cover their asses cause they will cover yours. And stay mobile nearly all the time even if there´s just taking a few steps backwards it will save your ass from getting EMP striked.

And take out the god damn Rorch-guns does´nt matter if they are empty seen way to many walkers just pass em by to get shot in the ass by some guy who was just waiting for the oppurtunity.

1-man walking "pewpew'ing" deathmachine on two mech legs... you can get 100 kills with the EU walker on Tunis Harbor if you really whore it up !!!     The EU walker owns the pac walker when it comes to infantry killing...

Dual Gattlingguns vs pewpew plasmagun
Winner = Dual Gattlingguns

Tanks are my faves though

The biggest kill streak i have got with a walker was on Part Bavaria on Assault Lines playing as EU. The PAC had captured the far right hangar (on a 64 man server), so i grabbed the EU walker and just camped the entrance . I got something like 45 kills without diing (or is it dying? Not sure how to spell it :S)

Best round = you beat everyone else with your streak. Say:

You go 11-0 in a walker
A noob goes 23-5 but died every 4 kills or whatever
You still hold the streak of 11
Someone then goes 12-1 but got 12 kills before he dies
He now holds the steak

Continue this until the round ends. I have 26 on Titan and 1 in Conquest! I only started conquest'ing today.

Well forget raping in Northen Strike, Half PAC team goes engineer with pillum. Being able to stay alive in assault line for a long time is really amazing.

But yeah managed to make lots of kills in them and the only time it seems I'm going down is when they all just wanna go engineer.

Walkers truly are a dangerous beasts if used right.  I routinely go ten, fifteen kill streaks with them, and typically more depending on the number of enemy engineers trying to flatten my ass--key here is to stick with your team and not go on a rampage by yourself--see, that's what gets cocky walker pilots killed.  I play defensive, staying mobile to make myself a hard target for EMP/Orbital combo, and always back off when it looks like their engineers are out for blood.  Key thing here: support your team and lead the way, and take care of the bigger threats (other walkers, APC's, etc.)

The L5 is excellent for infantry rape from up close, but the PAC walker is more usefull at a distance.

I had quite a few 35+:0 rounds with a walker, some on BF2s EU server. On city maps if you keep moving, don't cap flags (NEVER CAP FLAGS) and go for repairs after 2-3 hits than your only death threat is EMP+Orbital. And even that is unlikely if you keep moving and occasionally glancing at the ground.

Also if you team up with someone get him to go engineer in F2 seat and you go assault. This way he can jump out and repair or defuse mines and you will have that very useful icon showing you what class everyone is. Always nice to know where recons are.

When I first started playing BF2142 I had no idea about the shift button let alone the Z button as soon as I started using it I got much better can go 25-0 no problemo until everyone realises dude in a walker and spawn as Spec ops with camo or even engineer and lay mines even on camp Gibraltar! I also noticed if you stop moving for second your dead if the enemy commander is decent with orbital strikes and EMPs!

I actually haven't used one before during a game... albeit I don't even play that often. I'm odd, I own a server but I don't really play. Of course when I do happen to play, I get killed by them all too frequently.

stick the infantry & the vehicle radar things on your walker, have an engy with the defuse unlock and you'll own the day, untill you see another walker, then yours will tip over in fear over and over again

I like the walker but I'm nothing more than average with them so I normally leave them for someone who knows how to use them, unless there's no-one else around.

In the rite hands they are bloody good toys.
