I try never to use any help at all... I bought the game cause I wanted to find out what it was all about and what better way to find out than to play it.
Occasionally I will consult a FAQ if I haven't been able to figure out a particular location but only after trying what I feel is everything there is to try...
And very rarely I'll use built in game codes to get past parts that seem impossible (for example in Vampire Bloodlines during the final battles) but I only do this if I have seem to have no chance to making it through or the FAQs are telling me I don't have the right equipement.
Other than that I just play.
I do have friends who feel it's important to be first... so they'll buy the game same time I do, go home and find out how to turn on god mode, and then blow through the game in few hours... where is the fun in that? You just spend 50 bucks for a game you finished in 3 hours and missed half the game doing it and will probably be bored if you replay it.
I personally feel that if I can't get 40 hours worth of playtime out of my 50 dollar game then I've wasted my money... and trust me it's happened, and those games usually end up being regifted to friends and relatives.

This game has awesome graphics! (if u try it out u'll see).
I can't comment on the gameplay because I've only played it for about 10 minutes, I stopped after that because the graphics were so awful (and I wasn't really getting into it - the engine didn't seem very nice).
The graphics look like something I might have expected 2 or 3 years ago and really are not upto modern standards.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a fantastic game but don't for a minute think it's an FPS game... the gun physics are too realistic. If you think you can play it like Half Life and run into a room full of bad guys blazing away and come out without a scratch you'd better think again. You need to think, use cover, and act as if it were almost the real world... and listen for warning indicaters because otherwise you'll end up dead very quickly.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is more of a first person role playing game like Oblivion... kind of how I envision Fallout 3 will look once bethesda does something with it.
Still a very good game... Now I'm off to explore the north
I don't know that the genre is dead. But like flight sims it's going through a slow period.

Sounds a lot different than the experience I had with Nintendo...
My son wanted a WII, wanted it so bad he was willing to ask for cash and ebgames gift cards for his bday and nothing else... well he got enough to buy the WII + get a game.
Now to the hunt... for weeks I would call around to all the EBGames in my area at around 1pm as this was the time recommended by them to call as all of their shipments should be processed by that time...
Finally, after weeks of calling they have some. Rush to the store with my son, pick it up and race home.
Set it up, get it connected to the network, let it download updates, play with the MII, insert the WII Sports game disk...
Disk cannot be read!
take out the disk and make sure it's clean... reinsert...

Try Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess...

Try Gamecube game in the gamecube and it works fine.
Look through the troubleshooting guide that comes with the system and I've already tried all that so next step is a call to Nintendo support...
Here is were the story differs...
I'm on hold for 20 minutes, not that big a deal.
I describe the problem and what I've done to try and resolve it and the first words out of his mouth are 'guess we need to replace it'...
After I pick myself up of the floor and control my breathing he gets my name and address and tells me that a new system will be at my house in a couple of days, when it gets there test it to make sure it works then just ship back the damaged one.
Whoa, no way... and sure enough 2 days later a brand new WII system came to my house, we set it up and my son is currently blazing away on Zelda and Call of Duty 3.

They are both very good maps and I hate the fact that nobody has them in their map rotations but I think the primary reasons for this are the following
Songhua Stalemate: back in the 1.12 days this was worse than Mashtuur city and it turned into a blackhawk rape fest with no hope of winning for the chinese with two Blackhawks roaming around... and for this reason it has not worked it's way back into most peoples map rotation...
Zatar Wetlands: I'm not really sure why this has never been played much. And it has been scarce on peoples map rotations for as long as I can remember. My guess it that it's just to damned big and has very few vehicles to get around in. I've had rounds where as MEC 1 guy jumps in each of the vehicles and then peels out before anyone can join him and then spent the next 15 minutes just walking to the first flag.

And EA should have sent an email to the email address you used to sign up with telling you why you were reset.
I picked up this game over last weekend and I must say it is a totally new experience for me.
I am an old hand at FPS games and this one had made me alter my play style... I had to cause it's unlike any FPS game I've ever played.
When your used to blasting your way through a room full of bad guys while barely taking any damage you just can't play this game that way. It plays more like Operation Flashpoint, where guns work like guns should work and damage works like damage should work...
I really love the fact that you can bandage yourself, and that you get hungry... it adds a level of realism to it that immerses you even more into the world.
I've been playing for a few days now but trying to get the hang of it has caused me to restart a few times so I haven't even left the entry area... maybe I'll try to wander into the Garbage tonight.
I have one into one annoying bug. When I die, it won't let me load my saved game until I've exited the program and restarted. I think it's addressed by the patch but I don't want to lose my AK-47

I had the same sort of epiphany a few years back. would go to work for 9+ hours a day then come home and sit in front of the computer for another 6+ hours. Until I realized my kids were growing up without me.
Now I still play, and probably always will... but it might be for an hour a night after everyone has gone to bed rather than the entire night. And sometimes not even that much. Thats why I only have about 95 hours of play time on 2142 and I probably bought it the same day you did.
Good job getting your priorities straight, just thought I'd let you know you don't have to give it up completely... just cut way back.

Will be adequate me thinks.
Now you need the following so those can all work together
Case (of your choice)
500W+ power supply
Abit or Asus motherboard (my personal preferences as I have never had one fail on me or cause a problem)
SB sound card (doesn't matter which, if your an audiophile then spend the 250 bucks on the big one but the 40 dollar card will sound just as good through shitty PC speakers)
You might also consider changing the processor to a dual core and stepping down the graphics card. You can get an Nvidia 7600GS for about 130 bucks and you don't really lose anything over the 7800 but save 100 dollars.
I personally run the following:
Antec 500W trupower Power supply
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2
Nvidia 7600GS video card
SB Audigy 2 sound
2GB of OCZ memory
Abit K8V mobo
Had to play 1 round right after it released at midnight my time last night and had a blast. Have only played Bridge at Remmagen (assault lines), and it was indeed an engineer fest with 2 walkers a side + goliath and Hachimotos.
Hachimotos are cool and not to hard to control if your used to the PAC tank cause it manuevers the same way just faster.
Picked up 2 badges during the round. and had fun exploring the new map...
One thing I did notice, my squad leader and I tried to steal their Goliath and we couldn't... not entirely sure why, maybe a setting, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I had a funny one happen the other night... I was on Titan defense, used the pod to get up on the roof. Placed an APM at one of the openings, another in the hall way and then and RDX demo pack in the door way leading into the cargo bay.
This is what I heard...
Boom, 'Hold on let me heal you!'
Boom, 'Hold on let me heal you!'
Then both the medic and the guy I'd already killed twice come running over my RDX and BOOOM!
4 kills in less that 30 seconds
just thought I'd share that cause I thought it was fun

First game to support dual monitors will be Supreme Commander (due out in a month or so) and I'm sure everyone else will follow suit rather quickly.DoctorFruitloop wrote:
This is something I've mentioned a lot in the past. It would be great if dual monitor support were built into the engine so that one monitor could display the regular the view, and the other could permanently have the map open.
However, seeing as EA have cited "unfair advantage" as the reason for not implimenting widescreen support, I can't see something like this being added to the games at any point in the future.
It would be cool though to have you're regular view from a gunship or plane on screen 1 and an extrenal rear facing view on 2 looking out for a tail.
I have a 20 inch widescreen monitor and both BF2 and BF2142 look fine on it. But since neither game supports wide screen resolutions you do end up with some aspect stretching on the edges. Or you can set the monitor to not alter the aspect ratio and you end up with black bars on the left and right.syndicat111 wrote:
