Even if he dies, nothing will change. How would you feel at the person who murdered a member of your familly? Because everytime someone dies, you got people feeling that exact same way who would go through nearly any length to get back at the enemy. This mass chaos will never end, at least till the day man is no longer using weapons that actually kill a man.
I'm of the beliefe that Bin Laden has been dead for some time (6 months to a year) and Al Queda is not letting on to this fact because of the strategic value in keeping him alive. Notice that attacks are more sparse and of a lower scale? Notice that the intercepted comminication (letter) between Al Queda leadership did not include his signature (or even a reference to him for that matter), lastly... he hasn't realeased any recent, dateable, ominous "I'm gonna get ya" tapes in a while. Note that I am not, however, saying the Al Queda or terrorist threat has passed. Rather, it's only just begun.
As I described above- they work together and are not required to play the original game. P.S. BFV had no "official" expansions (but damn I loved the free WWII maps!)atlvolunteer wrote:

I got kicked yesterday for the very same thing. In the (stupid) admin's defense, many of my team mates were spawn camping at the time and the admin warned everyone to stop. I went in as SF, started blowing stuff up, next thing I know I'm kicked. Grrrrrr.gearpig wrote:

I was there legitimately trying to do my part in the battle and this dude is crying and turning people against me like I had done something unfair.
Confirmed. I just got it last night and mine is worse than 8 also. Just bad wording on the part of EA.Cougar wrote:

I could start a new guy and just go for all these over again, it would be pretty easy now that I've played a while, but I'd really rather not. It's a mild tick off though and knowing me it might just tick me off enough to start up a new guy. Who knows.

That's funny, I was just playing last night when I noticed the "Artillery is condition red" warning come up so I made my way down there. Wouldn't you know it was a friendly blowing up our stuff. Realistically, if it's given you 5 months of entertainment, isn't it worth the $50 you've already paid? And if the expansion gives you another month or two of playing and being entertained then isn't that also worth the additional $30? Consider the following: buy a DVD= $20 good for 2-10 hours enjoyment. Go out for a nice meal alone= $20-40 for 1-2 hours of fun. Night of drinking= $20-200 (depending on gender ) for 3-7 hours of fun. My point is, if you work out the math you're getting your money's worth.
On the point of the patch timing I do think that EA will release a patch AROUND the same time as the expansion but I agree with others that it will be just like they've done before with BF2SF and BF2 versions.

Have you had an experience (or experiences) with a certain player that is just an absolute piece of s***? Do you know of someone whom we should never team or squad with? Who is the biggest jerk in BF2? It goes without saying that the MYGOT guys are on this list, but I'm curious, who really sucks? P.S. Noobs don't count- I attribute their jerkness to newbness.
While I know this to be true it is, oddly, the one stat the bothers me most. I end up hunting those players listed on my account. It's some kind of weird vengance thing.chuyskywalker wrote:

This games point system is good Im just saying they need to recognize overall skill when you get that high up in the rankings because he could have taken a few days out of his point farming schedule and learned to play the whole game and not just run around and revive people. There is alot to this game and having that many points represents that he knows the entire game but he doesn't. Look at any of the other top players they all have all the badges any of the 2,3,4 players should have that rank of SMoC instead of him. hes just a guy that runs around with his paddles and shocks the hell out of people!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this your stat page? Should we consider you good b/c your K: D ratio is above 1? But your accuracy is crap and your W/L ratio is under 1, so maybe you're not so good after all...Blazin's is 1+ so maybe that makes him more valuable to a team...does that make him good?
My point is that "good" is too subjective to have that kind of requirement. Blazin is good enough to have a 3.87 SPM which is far better than you or I...I suppose there could be a player rating which takes a weighted average of a bunch of different stats and ratio like an NFL quarterback's QB rating but that means that a whole bunch of people need to begin to decide what statistics are more important than others which again raises the issue of subjectiveness. Not to mention that some tool with 8 accounts and knows how to play the game could jump into a brandy new account, hop in a tank, get some crazy stats and affect ranking...should he be awarded for finally having good stats on his 8th acocunt? Global points are ultimately the best way to measure player rankings.
Or just open and close your CD/DVD tray and let the autorun menu load.
Yup... I was going to just forget about getting it but after reading your post I admit that I'm going to log on tonight and lay the C4 smack down. Good job and thanks for sharing your strategy vjs.
Um, I don't punish. Unless it's a blatant walk-up-to-me-and-shoot-me-in-the-face type of thing you'll get no grief from me (even in that situation I may respawn to see if it happens again before punishing). My point is that I don't punish for anything unintended, be it on the air field or at a flag. And, for what it's worth, when there is a lot of TKing going on at the air strip it is usually unpurpose and the act of griefers as in people shoot others because they want the vehicle or they dive in front of it when another person gets it.stoneisland wrote:
Accidents do happen. But on certain maps like Clean Sweep or Daqing the flyers just seem to loose it completely. Bombing anything moving and then expecting a "sorry" to make me happy again. Those 15 seconds gets pretty annoying after a while.. I also often forgive, if a tank is murdering us around a flag I´m willing to forgive when a plane gets it. But whining for punishing after bombing your own team just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
And my guess is that you flyers pretty much always punish for teamkills at the airstrip so who are you to whine?
You're going to do what you want, and I'm not going to get into a flame war with you, but do try to understand that if I'm flying around at 900+ MPH and drop a bomb at an enemy or enemy base and you get killed in the process IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. I just can't see punishing someone for an accident. In fact, I believe that when a player punishes it's actually to make themselves feel better rather then to actually make the punished feel a certain way. As in "I'm so pissed that guy killed me, here... I'll hit punish... that will teach him!" Only, it doesn't teach anybody anything... only makes you feel better.
Agree. While I think anyone that punishes for anything other than a blatant, unpurpose TK is an idiot. I've come to accept that most people are idiots and I expect to be punished.ronin1942 wrote:

I don't even wait for an apology, I forgive, unless it was blatant asshattery or stupidity (see my thread "red text bug is no excuse for repeated tk"). Not only that, but I apologize profusely because, whether I forgive or punish, that guy just got a -2. Example: I'm driving a FAV down the road on Wake, and I see a friendly tank coming down the road. There's trees next to me, so I can't move off the road, and so I try to pass him on the side, but I do it too late, and my jeep blows up on his tank. I forgave immediately and apologized in text chat, then respawned as engineer, fixed his tank back to full health, and hopped into the gunner.

I was getting owned last night by a guy that had this technique mastered. I think his name was like LaVeChe or something. He would get his helli in position to hover just outside of our (only remaining) flag and switch seats, spend a couple of seconds with the tv missle and minigun and get 3-4 kills before he would switch back and recover before crashing. I was getting so pissed but I have to admit that I envied the tactic. Kind of like when your girlfriend goes out and sees a another girl looking hot and wearing a mini skirt. You know, she thinks to herself "What a slut. I wonder where I could get a skirt like that!"
For those of you that have been playing a while and have pretty much “seen it all” what type of kill gives you the most satisfaction.
For me it has to be killing a spec ops after he’s placed his c4 on a friendly tank or commander asset and right before he’s had the chance to blow it. I can just hear them yelling "Damn you MatRx9!!! Damn you to hell!!!" That makes me feel good
Runner up would be knifing a commander who was busy looking at his commander screen. “Ohhh, what happened???”

It may be different now but when the game came out it was like this:
A TK on a friendly with full life results in -2 for 50% team damage, -2 for the kill. Then, if they punished, it was another -4.

I think it's overall W/L but am not sure. I am sure, however, that the requirement is freaking rediculous!
Hilarious! And it's definately true about the nurses doing all the work. I worked in several different hospitals and never saw a doctor break a sweat.

The other 2 interns, the patient, and myself, gasped in awe for a few moments. The interns were happy though, they got to practice suturing on their 2 friends. No anaesthetics...
When I was in the USAF (in the medical field) we had a couple of airmen (med equipment repair guys- not authorized medics) who thought it would be funny to defib a dead pig that they found (our base in the UK was surrounded by pig and sheep farms) near the base gate. Wouldn't you know that the "patient pig" came back to life and proceeded to tear up the room and both participants were disciplined. The story is now a part of the official training for the med equip repair field to explain why they are just supposed to fix, not mess with, the equipment.M90Medic wrote:

So no one has actually witnessed a rocket "bounce" off the target?
I get punished so damned much that I don't even care anymore. I used to get nuts about it and chat back to the punisher that it was an accident and that they are a jerk for punishing. Most often they just reply with the comment like "watch where you're bombing/shooting/etc." which isn't always possible.
Almost all TKs are accidents. I never understand- why punish if it's an accident? Would you punish your child for an accident? Man, people are just jerks.

My 6 year old is an avid gamer himself. While I won't let him play BF2 yet (his mom's in Iraq, seems inappropriate), he's a master at WoW (has a lvl 43 character), Age of Empires, City of Heroes, and his new favorite- Dragonshard. It's pretty funny when he owns some one in a game and they start typing about he hacked or cheated. He just yells to me "daddy, they're whining again" (the text scrolls to fast for him to read it all) and I get on and let them know that he's a 6 year old with no hacks, just better skill. Funny enough, this doesn't seem to make anyone feel better. Kids and games, brings a tear to my eye!
Personally, jets are an aspect of the game that I absolutely love. One of the things I like about BF2 is that there are so many aspects of the game that when you get bored of one thing you can move on to another. Jets are one of those aspects of the game that I've had fun trying to get better at.
That said, I have noticed that when there is a pilot with uber skills they pretty much just own the map. You know, the type of pilot that hits EVERYTHING they attack. There's really no countering it because even if you do shoot him down once he's back in the air in under 30 seconds. The best you can hope to do is stay out of the vehicles and play on foot.
And (I suppose it goes without saying) jets are the #1 unsheathed phallic device in the arsenal of the base rapist which is anoying as hell.

It's a little cheesy IMHO but hey, it's your game and if that's the way you enjoy playing...
I gotta side a bit with Viking on this one. It seems if EA is going to use a "highest ranked player" system that it should consider more than just score. Specifically, it should focus on some of the team play elements.
That said, no matter what the system they use to select the "best player" there will always be a large contingent of detrators that say "he's not that good because he doesn't even have..." Just the way democracy (especially blind democracy like we have on the internet) works IMHO.
