I think that it is wrong for the highest ranking player in BF2 to not have his basic command badge!!! YA he has more points than anyone but there should be more requierments to get the hgihest elite ranking for BF2 like having all of your veteran badges or something I mean come on. Ya he can score points but can he play all aspects of the game??? Does he even know what the commander commands are??? It just seems funny to me thats all. When you get up into the higher ranks there should tougher requierments to get some of these elite rankings like Sergant major of the corps I mean its a joke that he has that rank and not his basic command badge but thats just my thoughts!!!!!!

this has been talked about and talked about in other threads, you should say it in one of them, instead of starting a new thread. im getting sick of hearing bout Blazin's lack of badges. If he has 3.8SPM (or wwatever it was) and has played that much, he deserves top rank imo.

Yeah I agree.  And not for nothing but the game ranking system DOES have requirements for higher ranks.  A First Sarge outranks a Master Sarge and a FIrst Sarge requires all basic combat badges.

So, I'll also weigh in inasmuch as it's wrong to believe that Sergeant Major of the Corps should have *any* command experience. The commander is the battlefield general officer. Key word there is "officer." The SMoC is a VERY cool position IRL, but they still, in theory only, salute the 2nd Lt because an officer is a command position and the SMoC is an enlisted. Now, having said that, any snot-nosed 2nd Lt that demands an SMoC salute deserves what they get....

If you want to be an SMoC, you are telling everyone that you're a combat person, not a command person. Nothing wrong with that in any fashion, just don't expect officers to fire up that hand...

I think he ment sargent major of the corps. should have a badge requirement . i definatly only one person at a time can hold this possition so it should be the best all around player not just the best point farmer (not complaning about point farmers)

I could careless if it has already been talked about I want to talk about it now. As far as the officer thing hes about to be a 2ndLt. so what now hot stuff??? Saying that they have requierments like having all your basic combat badges I could get all of them in one weekend if I wanted to!!!!!!!! This games point system is good Im just saying they need to recognize overall skill when you get that high up in the rankings because he could have taken a few days out of his point farming schedule and learned to play the whole game and not just run around and revive people. There is alot to this game and having that many points represents that he knows the entire game but he doesn't. Look at any of the other top players they all have all the badges any of the 2,3,4 players should have that rank of SMoC instead of him. hes just a guy that runs around with his paddles and shocks the hell out of people!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is where a command badge requirement should come into play. In that role, I don't think any other badges matter but command. Do any of us really know what the 2ndLt requirements are? UBAR states only that you need a Master Gunnery Sergeant and 200,000 points. Do we know that for sure? I sure hope a command requirement is part of the criteria...

How do you figure that having that many points represents knowing the whole game?  And how do you know how much of the game he doesn't know?  He DOES have all his Basic Combat badges (Command is not a combat badge) and some VET ones as well.

Is this your stat page?  Should we consider you good b/c your K: D ratio is above 1?  But your accuracy is crap and your W/L ratio is under 1, so maybe you're not so good after all...Blazin's is 1+ so maybe that makes him more valuable to a team...does that make him good?

My point is that "good" is too subjective to have that kind of requirement.   Blazin is good enough to have a 3.87 SPM which is far better than you or I...I suppose there could be a player rating which takes a weighted average of a bunch of different stats and ratio like an NFL quarterback's QB rating but that means that a whole bunch of people need to begin to decide what statistics are more important than others which again raises the issue of subjectiveness.  Not to mention that some tool with 8 accounts and knows how to play the game could jump into a brandy new account, hop in a tank, get some crazy stats and affect ranking...should he be awarded for finally having good stats on his 8th acocunt?  Global points are ultimately the best way to measure player rankings.

Word!  What he said!  Oh, and for what it's worth, Mugsy was just trying to get you to adhere to forum policy and not repost tired subjects.  You could still "talk about it now" by adding a comment to a previous post.  I'm not attacking you, just restating what's been stated many many times before.

I never once mention that I was any good, but ya im ok. However I did mention the players ranked 2,3,4. THey each have 9 gold badges and only lack 3 or 4 from having all silver badges these are the types of players that should be rewarded with the rank of SMoC. They try to play the game from every aspect and do a pretty good job at it. Are you going to tell me that because they dont have as many points as blazin that there not worthy? NO!!!  All I am saying is that The EA point system is good but when handing out the top honors maybe they need to look a little deeper into it than just looking at the point total. You tell me who would you rather have in your squad the guy that has played the medic player for 600 of his 800 hours or a player that has diverisified himself and can handle any position on your team???? YA I rest my case!!!!!!!!!!

I say that he deserves his rank. He WORKED hard for it, I couldn't spare as much of my valuable time just for accumulating an exorbitant nummber of (IRL) worthless credits. He is No1 in points and the ladder is about points - so he deserves it (given he didn't do it by stats padding, but it he did ruined his game experince, his harm not mine).

On the topic of "has to have al basic badges to move up in rank.."-thing: Maybe you should have a number of basic/veteran badges BUT not necesserilly ALL of them. It shows experience, thats good. Gives you special ranks (like thet Master Sergeant/First Sergeant), it's fine with me! But as a requirement? You should be able to build a specialist character - the one who serves your regular squad best (I, for example, am my squads designated medic/AT). Just for fun i had a go at the other classes (their basic badges as well) but got back to medic cause I am most usefull at that. I think that the basic pistol and knife badges shouldn't be requirements (it is quite unhandy to have somebody in your squad who is into knifing all opponents for the badges sake - gives me a lot of opportunites to revive though).  Pistol i got the honset way as sniper in self defence, but knife? The only way would be getting it the stats padding way, on one of those strange pistol/knife only server , running around like mad or by sheer luck (unlikely).
When approaching 20000 maybe (if that ever happens) i will give it a try again, but until that time my medic uses the knife only to cut bread  :-)
