Onkyo Makes pretty good stuff, there may be a couple of htib by harmon kardon or denon http://www.amazon.com/Denon-DHT-488BA-T … B000X3S6IC that may be worth a look. Klipsch make very nice speakers, some people think the horn tweeters can sound a little harsh though. Paradigm monitor or even cinema series are pretty nice. I have the reference line and they are outstanding. But in the end a HTIB is going to compromise on either the speakers, the receiver or both.
I am having some issues with a 1.5 TB seagate that i have, I have it as an esata connection, and it periodically locks up, but being external I just turn it off then on again and away I go. The 1 TB drive I have is a samsung, and have had no problems with it yet. the seagate 750gb I have is probably my favorite, it really seems to give me great performace, but again it is an esata connection, not a boot drive or anything. I need a NAS with esata connection and I'd be happy. USB2 and hardrive =FAIL once you have used esata
I'm just over 5TB using probably 2/3 of it
I think the esata port was actually added to this model. the p5q deluxe is the top end of the p5q line, there is a p5q pro p5q vanilla p5q-e etc. From what I've seen on the asus forum it seems to be an issue with the marvell controller. I just have no idea why they would put on an esata port and not have it hot plug.....
Does anyone have a p5q deluxe mobo running that can actually use the onboard esata header for an external drive. on my p5n e sli board the esata port work, I could plug in my external drive, turn it on and bam it shows up in the o/s. the p5n uses a jmicron controller for the esata header an i could turn on ahci for the external drive. the p5q uses a marvell chipset for the esata header, and I can't find a spot to turn on ahci for that port. I don't understand why they would put an esata header there if you can't hot plug it. so if anyone has got this to work, please let me know. thanks

you didn't copy over your my documents folder from another pc did you? if you did you will have to delete the contents of the bf2 folder in my documents. I am pretty sure that it has to do with resolution somehow, just not sure how to fix it for you.
the problem may be your resolution, what is the native resolution of the laptop? maybe 1440 X 900 or something like that?
You may need to force it to 800X600 or 1024 X 768 until you get the game to run then set your video options. Then you can put your desktop resolution back to what it is supposed to be the create a desktop icon with the +szx 1440 +szy 900 parameters to set resolution at runtime. BF2 does not support widscreen resolutions by default.

there is one very important feature that ultimate has that Home premium doesn't. remote desktop support.Bertster7 wrote:
Get the regular Cosmos, not the S. Looks better, runs much quieter and has much, much better hard drive mounts. It doesn't run quite as cool, but if you're seriously looking for a great cooling case, the Cosmos is not a good choice anyway, it's there for silence, which the standard variant does best.
Also, don't get Vista Ultimate. I've got it, and there really is no point (so few extra features for so much extra money). Home Premium all the way.
Other than that, good picks.
Normally laptop vodeo drivers can't use the reference drivers from nvisia or in theis case ati, typically you are stuck using the ones from the laptop maunfacturer. Did you install the intel chipset utility?haffeysucks wrote:

But now I'm still having troubles with my video driver.
I go into device manager and there is a little yellow question mark next to it, and when i try to update drivers for it, through there, it just says it couldnt install the driver.
I don't even know what to do with it.

I have a 8800gts 640MB version and I run almost everything at 1920X1200 the native resolution of my 24" lcd (dell 2407fpw) so to run stuff on an lcd tv that only has a resolution of 1920X1080 should be a piece of cake..... unless you mean crysis... which is a whole different discussion.ghettoperson wrote:

Doubling your memory and getting a newer video card ala x1950 pro or a 7900gt or something to that effect will give you the best bang for buck. and you should be able to do that for around your budget.
If you download cpu-z it wll you what type of memory you currently have(SDRAM, DDR or DDR2), as well as what type of graphics interface you are using (PCI-Express or AGP)on the mainboard tab.
Hop that helps

I have the 165's and I love them. My suggestion is to not get the USB one if you have any soundcard though.
I have an opteron 170 running @ 2.7 GHz I had a x1900xt and was getting around 4700 in 3dmark 06 now with my 8800gts (640MB version) I get around 8200. ( haven't overclocked the card yet). the 1900xt I could run at 1920 X 1200 but would get choppy once in a while, 8800 @ 1920X1200 smooth as silk. I was really reluctant about getting the card at first, have been a bit of an ati fan-boy for awhile, but seeing as they didn't get off there asses and get anything new to market, I decided to go with the nvidia card, and I am quite happy with the decision.
I was waiting until Ati to come out with a card before upgrading my x1900xt. But I guess I'll have to get an 8800GTS until the end of summer now.
seeing as most of the tests that I've seen the 320MB version is pretty much as fast or faster than the 640MB version on resolutions of 1920X1200 or less, 2 in sli would definitely beat the 640 version.
Actually the 1 significant difference is that XP pro comes with the ability to remote desktop into it, something i do regularly. MCE does not. so if you use rdt, pro is the only way to go. (unless you install some 3rd party app like vnc but it's shit compared to rdt)Dezerteagal5 wrote:
Well. Are you buying them? Then go with Media. Unless your wiring 20 computers together, you dont need pro. There are no signifigant differences between the 2 unless your networking largely.sithao wrote:

I got a new monitor the dell 2407wfp, I currently have an x1900xt which I used to run at 1600 X 1200 but gets a little choppy when forced to 1920 X 1200. Should I get an 880gts (gtx way too expensive) or wait until the ati get's their shit together and puts something new out in April. The rest of my system is still pretty good, opteron 170 @ 2.7Ghz 2GB memory, SB x-fi fatal1ty edition. just things get choppy at 1920 X 1200 the monitors native resolution. Would the 8800 gts be much of an improvement over an x1900xt?
Nice, I just moved from a 21" Dell crt to the dell 2407wfp that thing is amazing.
Maybe 120% but daemon tools does NOT have to be removed to play bf2142. I keep BF2 mini image mounted at all times, even while playing 2142, so after an annoying lagfest in titan mode, I can go bomb the carrier on wake without having to do a thing except click on the icon.Bernadictus wrote:

Problem getting this badge is getting kicked for team kill punishes by the friendlies hanging out in from of your APM when the enemies run by killing both of them.
I read the number off the back cover, and looked at some of the pretty pictures as it installed.
or when you are auto punished 3 times it does it for you. Like Yesterday I was playing landing the Air transport and a bunch of idiots are too impatient and punch their pods about 10 feet off the ground the air transport lands on them and I get punished by not just one but by 2 of them, then I go into the titan to blow the console using some rdx, some stupid ass stands beside it as it blows 1 more punish and I'm kicked. Punishing is just stupid unless it is obviously intentionalNaughty_Om wrote:

Does anyone have an x-fi fatality or platinum that can actually get the front microphone input to work all the time. when I go into the game mode mixer the record setting always changes back to microphone. the front input is line-in2/microphone 2. so I change it to that, but it nevers stays as the default, and it will seem to change during a map switch or at any random interval it changes back to microphone and my voip stops working, I get the indication that it is working, but no-one can hear me. short of running my microphone to the rear mic input, is there any way of setting the mic2 input as the default recording device?

Yes, any X-Fi card will give you better sound quality and quantity than what you currently have. The Ultra-High audio setting is quite amazing, to be honest. Before I got my X-Fi, I was running an onboard sound card, and I didn't notice how big of a difference sound makes. Now I run on Ultra-High and I can hear everything. Even though I might be halfway across the map, I can hear when artillery is firing. I can pinpoint locations of enemies behind walls and obstacles just be hearing the ingame speech, regardless of being unable to see them. The speakers I have are quite shitty, but I still noticed a HUGE difference.
As for the Fatal1ty/XtremeMusic debate, go with the XtremeMusic. The Fatal1ty card is overpriced and overhyped. It's a marketing gimmick to get you to spend more money on features that you don't now, nor will you ever require. The XtremeMusic will be at least $100 less and you'll get the exact same result from the card as you would with a Fatal1ty.
There. Better?
I don't know about you, but I already have front inputs for speakers and microphone. Now, the front mic input wouldn't work for BF2, so I just used the rear ones. Then, I plugged my desktop speakers into the front input. Works like a charm.
Well, until I woke up yesterday morning and stepped on my headphones. So...anyone know of any good, comfortable headphones?
