I got a new monitor the dell 2407wfp, I currently have an x1900xt which I used to run at 1600 X 1200 but gets a little choppy when forced to 1920 X 1200. Should I get an 880gts (gtx way too expensive) or wait until the ati get's their shit together and puts something new out in April. The rest of my system is still pretty good, opteron 170 @ 2.7Ghz 2GB memory, SB x-fi fatal1ty edition. just things get choppy at 1920 X 1200 the monitors native resolution. Would the 8800 gts be much of an improvement over an x1900xt?
I'd stick with that card for a while yet lol

I know you say it gets choppy in the high res but dont be rushed into anything, Id wait and read some reviews, prices may even get more competitive.

Yes definitely wait and see how they perform and how they are priced. Maybe NVidia will lower the prices just a little bit so you can get an 8 series card.
as per LCD, as I'm sure you know, everything looks better at native resolution. Also, what's the point of the sweet uber hi-resolution monitor if you're not going to use it?The#1Spot wrote:

I would wait. I would also lower your resolution. Having it that high is pointless.
Agreed, nvidia and ati will both have new cards out by march, if nvida want to keep there crown in the GPU market, they will release a better card, therefor pushing the price down of the GTS/GTX (btw if you look around you can find some GTX's all be it from no name companies, for just a bit more than the GTS). Besides the R600 from protype tests blah blah looks like its the better card to nvidias 8 series cards atm.mattrsch wrote:

yes then we will get nvidia 9000 series cards then eather 10 000 series or some ither name like XTM2243
