So, I'm about to get a new job (Best Buy or Circuit City) and I'm looking to upgrade, especially as my current computer has just about shit the bed.

I'm currently looking at:

CoolerMaster Cosmos S ($220) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6811119150
Q9550 - ($325) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819115041
Asus Rampage Formula X48 ($300) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131284
WD 300GB Velociraptor ($295) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6822136260
Sapphire 4870 X2 ($560) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814102768
1000w Enermax Galaxy ($260 after rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817194019
Windows Vista Ultimate DVD ($227 - no, I'm not pirating.) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6832116473

And I'll be carrying over new RAM I just bought (4 gigs of OCZ Reaper DDR2-800), my old backup HDD (250 GB Caviar), my old speakers, my 226BW and my Thermaltake V1 CPU Cooler.

Any changes? Don't bother suggesting to change the OS though - I can get major discounts from working at Best Buy so it'll be 3/4ths that price.

Get the regular Cosmos, not the S. Looks better, runs much quieter and has much, much better hard drive mounts. It doesn't run quite as cool, but if you're seriously looking for a great cooling case, the Cosmos is not a good choice anyway, it's there for silence, which the standard variant does best.

Also, don't get Vista Ultimate. I've got it, and there really is no point (so few extra features for so much extra money). Home Premium all the way.

Other than that, good picks.

Looser than what?

Galaxy isn't that loud - and all the more reason to put it in a noise proof box.

You might wanna check this case from Coolermaster, it just got released:

Galaxy PSUs are the best.
But why get a Rampage formula if you can get can flash mobos to Rampage that are half the price.

Well, if money becomes an issue, I'll do that...but otherwise I'll just get that.

I should have enough money in October or November, possibly sooner. I might be getting a loan from my father so we'll see.

Any case you recommend? I've really liked that Cosmos. Noise really isn't that big of a deal to me. I'd prefer better cooling. However, tool-less installation like the Cosmos has is VERY much preferred. Actually, I refuse to get a case without it. My Antec Nine Hundred doesn't have it and it was a fucking PITA to install shit in it.

Like I said - if I work at Best Buy or Circuit City (electronics retail stores), I can get a great discount.

That looks fucking awesome. Tool-less installation, a plexi-glass window, easy access to the audio/usb ports, and best of all - it's only $105 USD on Newegg.

Seconded on the regular Cosmos. Then you can be as awesome as me!

I'm planning on getting some fans that will throw a bit more air around for it though.

It looks like ass though. And it'll be another cheap feeling case like the 900. Buy a quality case.

I plan to, don't worry.

Right now it's between the Cosmos S, Cosmos and the one that Acreta threw out.

I was considering the ArmorSuit but 1) way too expensive for a case imo and 2) it doesn't have tool-less installation.

Cosmos S HDD mounts:

I know which one I prefer.

So what - the Cosmos has individual ones and the Cosmos S has ones that fit 3?

I'm confused...I don't see what the big deal is. -shrugs-

Lol I still have the OEM case that came with my first computer. It was prebuild, only thing that hasn't been replaced are the DVD-drives and the case xD

i think its silly to build what would be a great system and only use a single drive (unless that drive is an ssd)

edit -- i guess you are backing what you have up ... its not like you have years and years of stuff

Also, SSD fail rate is quite high atm.

How would you be getting discounts on products that Best Buy doesn't even carry?
