There are times I've left the server simply because the team-stacking and team-switching gets bad and you end up with 225-0 ticket rounds, which is no fun. It's always discouraging to see all the super high ranking players migrate over a couple rounds to one side, leaving a crew of sergeants or lower grades to be massacred. Players tend to stack the Euro side, I assume to go after the EF medal and badge.
I'd like to see less Taraba and Smoke but that's simply personnel preference.
AdamBenson - that was a fine round of Great Wall last night. Sorry I rarely use voip but we had a great squad.

I've been on packet loss' server and haven't had bad experiences with the admin. Killed him a number of times without repercussion. I only wish the player # was boosted up to 40.
Better than a 13 year old commander whose voice is breaking over the voip. That's always disturbing.cowami wrote:

Played with/against both you guys (xsix and adam) this past week on Great Wall. Sorry for any teamkills, didn't realize ff was on. Trying the EF maps after getting the dvd version of the packs, so perhaps you are right xsix. Not a fan of Taraba or Smoke Screen, but Great Wall is solid entertainment as long as the teams aren't too imbalanced. See you again.

Every once in while I get a bug where I am locked into the walking forward motion. Can't do anything but shoot and walk forward - no running, no jumping, no stopping. Then I die and it is fixed. Amazingly I have actually killed a few people on my Frankenstein like strolls.
I never knew about this bug but it sure explains those times when I tromp into an area the uav says is clear but there's a whole damn squad sitting in front of me.
Accuracy is overrated except in the case of sniper rifles. KDR trumps accuracy, even if 4 out of 5 of your shots hit a tree (which mine apparently do).Fancy_Pollux wrote:

No, more likely 64 player map with a small number of players and an opposing team that stunk it up.burni$te wrote:

If you have good skill with the apc and get help from a steady stream of supply crates you can create absolute havoc with the apc, particularly on Berlin.
Those are some of the best times where you have a smart commander actively on voip. Voip in a squad is nice not a necessity in my mind, but a commander using voip makes the game much mure interesting and tactical.vpyroman wrote:
I remember this one round where the commander was telling everyone what to do via voip, and as I was taking the point, he goes "6 there is a guy behind you, 5 kill him" I turn around and see a recon with his knife out get sniped. My expression was "OMG that's one hell of a fraking shot!" He was then mutinied.
That's a good one. My best was still in BF2 when as a near full Blackhawk completely smoking is trying to limp to a helipad for repair. Not knowing the bad state of the helo, I spawned on the squad leader in the Blackhawk as it headed for the pad. It wasn't going to make it so I jumped out only to have the Blackhawk somehow land on my head and have the game register 4 teamkills against me, all of which resulted in punishes.Kanil wrote:
Uhm in BF2 I was standing directly infront of one of my deployed AT mines. A friendly tank drove right up to me, ran me over (killing me), and then hit my mine and blew up. I got punished.
In 2142, I saw a Nekomata driving along, try to make a turn, sliding into a nearby (immobile) Ocelot. The Ocelot went sliding into a nearby Soldier, and crushed him into a wall. The Ocelot driver was credited with the teamkill and was punished.
As for 2142, it would have to be the simple act of "suicide by walker" as someone runs in the path of a walker for a ride without bothering to note that the AA seat is already occupied, gets stomped, and punishes.

The wipe test should be extemely easy, all they need to do is set a best round floor of maybe 500 and wipe everyone whose best round score is over that number. You simply can't score that in a round without padding/exploiting. Maybe you could pull off between 300-400 legit, but probably not. They could and should wipe the top 100 as I don't think there's anyone there whose best round score is below 2000.

The other day I knifed a squad leader standing still with the accipter floating next to him. I swear it looked straight at me and didn't do a damn thing. I will never unlock that piece of garbage as it currently exists.

Yeah, but it shipped with fewer maps than bf2 and several of the maps are strikingly linear . Gibraltar, Fall of Berlin? Fun no doubt but wears thin a bit too quick.alien-DSW-Gen wrote:

Actually, I might have agreed with you about spawn being amusing until a few days ago when he began ceaselessly posting about the exploit. Can the forum go 5 minutes without a spawn post? Possibly, but only if he is taking a huge dump out of reach of his computer or "proving his point" about the exploit on some titan server.

Heh-heh. Seems like your entire existence revolves around posting on this forum and finding game exploits in 2142. But I must be wrong, because your encycolpedia of posts and pathological desire to talk about the transport exploit just doesn't say it all, does it?spawnofthemist wrote:

The tag is intrusive and has gotten me killed a couple times.
I have the same problem. Sometimes if the 2142 dvd is in the drive on startup it will lockup the computer until I pop the drawer, then business as usual. A sloppy pressing somewhere.
Maybe they were using drone surfing bcz I went looking for the spawn beacons and couldn't find one. I figured it had already been destroyed and possibly redeployed on top of the building.
I saw this last night on Fall of Berlin. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's where someone plants a beacon right up next to a building either purposely or by coincidence. The pods are slightly maneuverable, and you can angle it so you can get on top of the building if the beacon is close enough to the building. I've done it completely by accident myself one time on Belgrade. But I simply jumped off the building. But now people are obviously doing this on purpose because last night I saw several squads camped up on rooftops all over Fall of Berlin.
From there it's the typical Karkand hotel rooftop routine where you get a collection of support and medics so they can't be rooted off, grenade spamming, you know the drill. The only difference is that the buildings are so much higher in 2142. BUT IT'S STILL FREAKING OBNOXIOUS.

Yup this is my thought as well. By spring we'll see some sort of expansion pack with North America v. South America. I'd put money on it in fact, although I'm guessing we've seen the last of Wake.doctastrangelove1964 wrote:

True, true. It doesn't quite have the magic of BF2 for me either, but I've had enough fun with it that it apparently managed to creep into my subconscious at about the 15-20 hour mark.lavadisk wrote:

I have had occasional BF2 dreams in the past which for some reason usually involved Jalalabad. Last night I had my first 2142 dream -- which I guess means in spite of all the shortcomings in the game I'm hooked.
I don't remember much other than zooming around in a hover tank in a map that looked a lot like Suez Cannal - which is odd because I don't really care for that map. I had some amazing kill streak going. The most visceral part of the dream was the sound, everything was just like the game, including the sproing of the active defense, artillery strike, etc.
Do you dream of the game? If so post your dreams.

I know. Doesn't make it any less wrong-headed and inconvenient. How often do I need that stupid defuser? Not very often. How often do I need a grenade? Regularly.starman7 wrote:
And I think that grenades are on key 7, because they're a global unlock, and as such need their own space. Even if you're recon with only a sniper, knife, and pistol, they can't put it on 4, because they'd have to push it up for other unlocks/classes.
Everthing you already said is dead on. And your comments carry extra weight because of the bcz of the time you have put in with BF2. The f**k off comments from the little folk whose stats show few hours with BF2 or who simply aren't very good at BF2 should get short shrift.Eizieki wrote:

I bought 2142, I play it, but I simply don't get as jazzed about it as BF2. But it's new and the BF2 maps are stale and there are some decent maps in 2142. I think the new maps are the best part of the game. The rest ranges from marginal improvements to bizarre nonsensical changes to marginal minuses. But mostly the minuses outweigh the pluses. Adapt or get the hell out? I paid for the game, I get to complain and comment.
I assume you mean the "7" key but this is one of my biggest gripes. They put parachute as space bar now, which is good thinking, and then they move grenades to 7, which is moronic. Now it's like the SF days where you go to pop your chute and you put on your gas mask and plummet to your death. Now instead of throwing a grenade I pull out a mine defuser or something equally useless.the_outsider38 wrote:
Plus why are the nades default on F7? Who thought that up?

I personally think claymores should not just have the little skull and crossbones icon in the corner of the screen, but also show the area of effect to your teammates. Such as on the ground is an area of effect cone. Its 2142 for crying out loud, they have the netbat, why can't they see where a claymore is located with a bit more accuracy? You can't always see the claymore due to a wall or choke point, but if there was a visual indication as to where you would set it off, there would be a lot less teamkills.

Now, I can live with certain in-game ads (though apparently there will be Dodge truck and Neon ads in the bleak, futuristic world of 2142), but including a lengthy description - outside of even the Eula - seems to indicate even EA knows that this is some shady borderline spyware"
