I'd say that humanoid hands would give the mech the greatest advantage over a tank. If a mech were to have hands, it would hypothetically be able to change out weapons based on situations (i.e. long range rifles, anti-armor weapons, close combat weapons, etc.), as if it were nothing more than a larger than life infantryman.

A)I have a great kill streak going, at which point, the game chooses to kill me and d/c me, its even gone as far as spawning me again and I either die (I've had buddies watch my poor avatar get mowed down by some random APC) or it suicides for -2 when I rejoin...
B)I'm commander with lots of points on a winning team. A random other person then takes my place before I can rejoin.
C)I've spent the last 10 mins trying to get into a buddy's server that has been full, it d/c's me the moment I spawn... Woot deaths.... To top it off, there's no free space... again...
Ahh EA... You've got a DICE live team whose only job is to keep the game running smoothly... Maybe you should hire some new people...

Do you know why there are patches for almost EVERY online game out there? It is incredibly hard to make a perfect game from the start simply because situations change, people seek out those glitches, and then it becomes necessary for the game developer to release a patch to remove it and change the gaming environment to the way it was meant to be played. I know it may be hard to believe, but coding for such a game is an EXTREMELY complex thing... Just one error in a line can be the cause of a CTD or other glitch. When a patch comes out, it's actually pretty understandable that there will be something else found wrong in a short time. Take the Karkand glitch. That came with the introduction of vehicle drops. Was it meant to happen? No. Some idiot was screwing around and accidentally did it, then told all his friends...LBC|Jester wrote:
Im not buying 2142. All EA and DICE care about is releasing new content. EA is all about expansion packs and new titles because that is what makes them the most money. Why bother fixing a game when you can simply release another with the same problems. I'll admit I still play Battlefield 2, problems aside the game is still fun. However, Battlefield 2 will be the last game I purchase from EA. Wanna know why? Their track record for support. Here is how 2142 will play out. The game will be released, only the die-hard fans will buy it while a good majority sit aside and see how everything goes first. A few more may drop down and decide to go ahead with a purchase. Some people will hit the public forums and complain about glitches and problems. DICE will work on a new patch. The first patch will come out to only cause more problems. Players will experience crashing to desktop and servers will fall victim to the crashing aswell. They'll come out with a new patch and another and another that just can't seem to do the job, and while they are busy fixing the problems they created they'll make an announcement for a new expansion pack and some booster packs. Why not spend all of your time fixing problems? Well creating new content is easier and it makes you more money, everyones a sucker. So think about this first before you decide to buy, are you ready for the same old shit? Oh and lets not forget. DICE themselves have said that Widescreen LCD support is "unlikely". How many of you out there own a widescreen LCD for gaming? Look at how many other games support widescreen. DICE just cannot seem to get it right...so enjoy your heaping pile of shit called 2142.
As for widescreen LCDs... They aren't going to support them? What a shame... Do you have one??? Honestly, who all here has one? I have a 17" box monitor thank you very much, and I don't plan to upgrade to a pointless "widescreen LCD"...
I was, of course, responding to the original post that assumed that 1.4 was going to be delayed until the release of Battlefield 2142, in order to 'promote' that the game is still alive even with the arrival of this new entry to the franchise... Instead, it is planned that this Tuesday it will come out with all the fixes that were orginally intended... The beta was some 'clever ruse' to delay the patch until later, but was in fact used to improve the contents of the patch. At least, that's what I'm getting out of this...
As far as the thinking goes that they shouldn't release 2142, I disagree. BF2 has been out for over a year now, it didn't come out last month. 2142 brings the new customizing kit set ups as well as a new scenario, and updated graphics... Are you guys saying that a new entry is too soon at this point? There are 485 people who are over 200k points... That means there have already been a large number of people who have achieved what, imho, was probably not meant to be attained... I, at least, am only a humble 1st Sergeant who's main goal is to leap the 30k hurdle for that spectacular star... I never thought that I would make it to 20k let alone as far as I have... I'm not saying that I'm ready to throw down the game, but I'm perfectly satisfied with my $100 product...

Well, clan members usually have some sort of voice communication set up, which gives them a huge advantage over two random people. As a pilot myself, it's frustrating when some random guy gets in to gun because 90% of the time, they are GOD AWFUL. Every time someone (other than my friend whom I'm talking to over TS) gets into the chopper with me, I generally assume they aren't great (granted I'm comparing them to my friend, who can almost hit a chopper behind us with a TV [exaggeration but he's REALLY good]). I mean, nothing frustrates me more than a gunner who ONLY uses either gun or TV, when both weapons are extremely important to the chopper. I usually spam a few hop outs, but a single 'Negative' convinces me to give it a shot (aside from rounds where I'm having a bad day, at which point I see how many backflips I can pull off in a row from 200 feet [6 is my record ]).

If it's a convoy member, then that piece of armor is doomed and the members nearest to him are at a disadvantage(no repairs with no one in it to that piece of armor or the ones next to it).
If it's another random guy, then that guy can be eliminated from afar.
If it's a convoy member who decides to take one for the team... He's retarded, +2 for the infantry, 1 armor down.
And, if the squad is intelligent, they will use cover to get away from the tank.

Tows are STATIONARY and easily avoided/destroyed. As for the Sraws x 2... a tank being repaired by two other vehicles with engineers in them and a supply crate will nullify their efforts.
As far as ground goes, an experienced tank driver won't be sitting on top of the TOW and usually won't see the missle coming from the distance. The one that DOES sit on the flag is susceptable to C4 or someone who hops on the TOW while he's looking for that C4 guy. Plus, it's not often that your teamates (the repairing vehicles) will actually sit by you when you have full health (or they won't even be engineers...), so those 2 SRAW missles aimed at the tracks (most people know to aim for the critical point) are instant kill.

Its good to see people being honest about something finally. I was getting tired of hearing all the "well I got my expert knife in a normal server" people. I find it to be a challenge to discover ways to get badges using all of the mechanisms that the game allows. Wether that be getting stuff while commanding or using vehicles. If EA/Dice would have put more thought into the requirements for awards, then we wouldnt be talking about this. Its not our fault that we are creative and resourceful.
Really though, anyone should get any badge any way they can... Take that jet and kill people on Wake (don't rape the carrier mind), APC/Tank whore, or just join a small server that has a long lasting game. No one should care, you did it, and it took effort. It's not like you're sitting there doing nothing to get it, you still have to fly that jet/drive that tank/kill that whole team 4 times over, and that DOES take some amount of skill.
I mean, I'll be pleased to admit that I got my expert medic flying a jet on Wake (hint: the key is to avoid the carrier), followed by a daring parachute drop at 38 kills (dropped into the main, killed one guy capping it, revived my commander, and knifed the guy who killed him ). That's just using the tools the game gives you is all.

Well, that would make sense. I'm guessing that the two unlocks are to give players an opportunity to receive their second anti-tank and sniper weapons that are due out with the next patch. Those weapons would technically count as second SF unlocks like the SCAR-L, G36E, etc. And it seems as if each rank that provides unlocks is meant for use in unlocking both kits special weapons (i.e. get a rank, get 2 unlocks, get G36C and Scar-L).the_ubernoob_ wrote:
