I've had it on 1.41 & 1.5 with my 4870x2...
I've run a CPU without thermal paste before, was an old 4400x2. Of course it's not advisable to run a CPU without thermal paste but if it's only to try get into the BIOS it aint gonna do that much harm, and if it does reach unsafe temperatures the PC will automatically shut down. Tried a 3500+ without a heatsink before and just an 80mm fan blowing on it, got into the BIOS and went to the temp monitor, temps rocketed to 90°C and the PC shut down.
I don't see any green. Maybe your monitors fucked or needs re-calibrating?
Yup, got the HD650's and they are bloody brilliant. Can't go wrong with Sennheiser's.
Wouldn't it be less of a ball ache to just back up his data and reinstall windows??

Anyone know if/when the PC version will be out?
My mates PS3 died and could be fixed with the heat gun trick however he doesn't have a heat gun so he stripped it down and stuck it in the oven. It did work and he was able to use it but it would crash in some games. Got a replacement from Sony a few days later hence the suicide oven attempt.
@anyone who cares.
DGPU's - don't knock it until you try it. To me its just like what happened with Vista, it's been hated and bashed buy a large number of people who have never tried it. Now some haters highly recommend Vista over other OS's (bar win7), hypocrites. Same thing is happening with dual GPU's, just because its new and some early models & drivers displayed signs of micro-stutter it's instantly hated by everyone. There's millions of users with SLi/crossfire and dual GPU set-ups and I bet >1% of them complain/suffer/notice micro-stutter. Hating certain technology just because everyone else does

SP2 is out now. Tried running catalyst A.I. Disabled/Standard/Advanced to see if that makes any difference? I used to experience random slowdowns on older cards because they ran out of vRAM. Can't say if its the same you you as there's no specs & settings
I've given up with this idea, not 100% sure what I need etc so I'll just stick with the sennys for now
Doesn't work. Been onto nvidia support and he said it doesn't work over HDMI, their solution is to revert back to 177.92 beta driversaimless wrote:
Go to your Nvidia Control Panel and find the "Change Signal/HD Format" tab. I'm not sure what mine used to say but the settings are in there to properly change the resoultion to 1920x1080. Then adjust the scaling as you wish.
Bf2, wider aspect ratio allows you to see further and I wanted to do some fullscreen recording in 1080p.
However this doesn't matter now as I've just ordered a 4870x2
Mods can close this if you like.

I want to use 1080p for reasons I can't explain. It will look good if nvidia drivers worked. I don't want it to stretch the image full screen or overscan like its currently doing. Just keep it at its original res with black bars on the top and bottom.Freezer7Pro wrote:
Why would you want to run a lower res than your monitor is designed for? It won't look good.
Is there any way to get this thing working? I want to use 1080p on my monitor (1920x1200) but selecting 1080p on the desktop or in games results in the image being stretched off the edges of my screen. The flat panel scaling option in the nvidia control panel is grey out with 'use my displays' built in scaling'
google hasn't turned up any fixes, only loads of other people with the same problem. This worked fine with ATi drivers
Anybody got answers for this? if not, fuck it, I'm off back to ATi when the new cards are out

BH is pretty rape in the right hands as oakleaves demonstrated to me -.-
Causes all sorts of problems, most common is data corruption on the HDD. Can also kill hardware if abused, iirc.Kimmmmmmmmmmmm wrote:

hi,
I currently have Creative T3100 2.1 speakers linked upto my X-fi extreme gamer soundcard on a Y splitter so I can use my headphones at the same time. Thats about as far as my audio knowledge goes.
This setup is fine however the sub on the T3100 just isn't powerful enough for me, I'm a bit of a bass nut atm so I'm looking at getting a second sub but I have no idea how to go about doing it.
I have a a couple of vague ideas how to go about doing this but since I've never used this kind of stuff before I don't know what will work and what wont.
Is it possible to get a desktop amp or something which plugs into the soundcard (optical link maybe) and run everything of the desktop amp?
And what are good amps and subswoofers?
Actually writing this I've had another thought, getting a bigger sub would drown out the weak speakers on the T3100, would I be better off getting new 2.1 speakers w/ sub or get some speakers + amp + sub separately?
I'm a bit of a sound config newb

Tried clearing the CMOS and double checking EVERYTHING was connected properly?
Tried setting static IP's on the computers? I've had a problem before where one PC kept trying to steal an IP of another PC running off the switch.
Mine was on by default and has been since forever :\
Random comedy movie like the Gary's mod vids.
Kaspersky.
Delete the shader cache and/or reinstall 1.41.
WASD is horrid in any game. ESDF is way better, greater reach of keys available from that position. Never used WASD in my 4 years PC gaming
Yup. Had this over a year and its been overclocked to buggery nearly every day since I've had it and it still works Same with the E2140 in my HTPC.max wrote:

It could go a little further, maybe 4.2Ghz with those volts. Didn't want to risk putting 1.7v through it.DeathUnlimited wrote:

Might get a cheap dual core just to see how far it can go, give menzo a run for his money

Guys download it with Internet Download Manager. Firefox > 220kb/s. IDM > 2.3Mb/s and you can pause it.

I'm not very impressed by it. Its better than my 4870 but not by much.DeathUnlimited wrote:

I'd suggest re-installing or updating your video card drivers if you've just changed your monitor.
Just upgraded my monitor from 22" (1680x1050) to 28" (1920x1200) and noticed Bf2 was getting laggy at some points e.g dropping to 60FPS from 100 which makes the game look laggy. Didn't have this before so opened GPU-Z while playing Bf2 to see what temps and stuff I was getting. Temps stayed at 50°C because GPU usage was only 40-50% so I assume this low GPU usage is responsible for the FPS drops. My 4870 should handle Bf2 at 1920x1200 piece of piss which it does most of the time apart from the random drops.
Same thing happens in C&C3 Tiberium wars, GPU usage won't go above 50% even when the game is dropping to 20 FPS. COD4 the highest it went to was 84%.
So my question is, is there any solution to this?
I know when the games reach there FPS cap they won't require more power from the card hence why its never at 100% all the time but why would the FPS drop if there still all that power spare? CPU usage is around 30-50% in most games so not due to CPU bottleneck.
System specs in sig.

Anyone want a toke of this Salvia....
I've had so many EUE's recently. SMP client killed itself just before the WU ended so I missed out on 1700 points there, took days to complete that WU

SMP client is no more.
^ I've had a couple of the new ATi WUs but with 8.9 beta drivers they crash, they do give a boost to your PPD as the WU's are worth 500 odd points each. Got the SMP client working properly on my Q6600, 2500PPD from that
