just managed to install catalyst on ati x1950xt (from 8800gtx).

Do you have to reinstall bf2 as i get this error.

Which i dont understand as bf2 only likes 60hz and my screen runs at 60hz... lol

I hope not as i have 3 mods and patches etc....

Can't even read that error message, even if I do just click "view image", it's still shrunk down.

Was just away to suggest deleting the BF2 folder in Documents. Oh well.

Does anyone know why that works for 99% of BF2 probs yet?

BF2 doesn't work in widescreen as well as most games.

To get widescreen, do the following:

Right click your BF2 shortcut, and go to properties, then the shortcut tab, and at the end of the target at " +szx1920 +szy1200"

Then, go to My Documents > Battlefield 2 > Profiles > Default, open Video.con in a text editor and change "VideoSettings.setResolution" to 800x600@60Hz

Then, go to My Documents > Battlefield 2 > Profiles > Open the folder that corresponds to your profile (0001 is the first in the list, 0002 is next...etc) and open the Video.con in a text editor, then change "VideoSettings.setResolution" to 800x600@60Hz

This should fix your error.

it shouldn't give an error though...whatever that error says.

Yes, if you don't do what I said in my above post you'll get that error.

i've run it without the ws "fix."  it launched fine.

If you try to set the wide screen in the command line and not in the video.con files, it gets that error.

Trust me, I just troubleshooted this about a month ago.

ok, you're right, it's not like it worked for me or anything.

For fucks sake.

If you try to use a widescreen setting in your video.con files, you get a fucking error. I don't know what you're doing, but it obviously isn't that. If it works for you, you did it the right way.

Pics cause it fucking happened:

You're forgetting the fact that it's BF2. Haffey's fix will work on 39.3% +/-60% of all computers.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
