While I understand your point, you get even better guns, AK-101, G36E, L85A1 as Medic, plus you can heal yourself and teammates, as well as bring them back from the dead.JaM3z wrote:
Look i noticed in this other thread that most people think the assault is useless, It is not.
Whilst it has its down sides it also has the massive upsides, take the AK101 this gun absolutly owns, take the G3 (best gun in the game) it absolutly owns, take the F2000 pretty crappy but it has the flashbangs.
A guide on how to use these supeiror guns;
AK101 - Great for long short/medium range and even long range on single shot, best place to use this gun is karkand when your waiting for USMC to attack the hotel, all you do is spray and USMC will allways pay.
G3 - Possibly the best gun in the game, this gun will pretty much come up top against many other unlocks its a powerful rifle and has great accuracy at short/medium and extreme long range.
F2000 - Not the best gun in the world IMO, but it has the flashbang. The flashbang is the ultimate stopper to being base rapped, flash a tank and they cant see, or the best way to use a flash is on helicopters, flash one of them and they will 99% of the time crash and burn.
What i want to know is each of these weopons has its good points but yet people still bash the assault kit, ever since the noobs lost there o so precious GL they ditched the kit, why? Im not personally a huge fan of the GL but you can still noob tube hop your way around karkand and any other map just to let you know, although it takes a tiny of bit of skill.
I regulary go a round of 30-40+ kills and 1-5 deaths with the G3 and its helping my KDR to get into 2.0, so why why why why why all this bashing about assault.
Take the medics, ok they have a kickass gun but they dont actually do anything, the most frustrating thing about this game is when a friendly medic runs over your dead body and doesnt revive you, or the way you have to spam "i need a medic here" in the HUD, same goes for support, ok they get a not so powerful PKM anymore but you still have to spam "i need ammo here" in the HUD aswell.
Personnaly i think EA should improve the assault class by making it the only class that can sprint and shoot, or something worth while.
So how many assault players are there out there? And what servers do you play?
Anyway if anybody wants to get some decent ground-pounding in take a trip to 85.236.101.42: 16667

maybe one of the reasons racism is so big these days, is that a lot of people apparently don't seem to know the meaning of the word... racism - when you make a difference, positive or negative, to one or more persons origin from another race than yourself, ONLY because that person is from another race...... therefor;
race AIN'T got shit to do with skincolour nor countries!!!!!!!!!!! eg. there a multiple races with white skin, so two white guys can be racistic towards eachother. and if I tell a black guy from anywhere in africa to shut the fuck up, because he bothers me, is NOT racism... he really could be pissing me off with his behavior regardless of his skincolor...
if I say; "I hate every person in kenya, because they are from kenya.." I'm NOT being a racist - since there a people outside kenya, who is the same race as them, but I don't dislike them - however saying that line would be DISCRIMINATING - but that's not the same as racism..
most times I hear someone claiming someone else to be racists, it's normally because they are either ignorente og lack a better vocabulary, and the word "racist" was the toughest one, they could come up with..
I got my Basic at Wake, which is kinda strange, I got the last guy in the AA at Artillery Island, got a guy capping north village, and got the other 5 at beach. I'd come at them when they were by that little hut and they'd run behind it trying to hide and wait for me, and I'd come around the other side and shank them.
CrazeD thats why I said he's probably the best player I've ever played with. I've played with all the Top 10 players at one time, except BushViper just to see how good they were, but none of them compared to ^Shadow_Ownz^. I play with him all the time on Moders Karkand, and I swear if he even looks at you, you might as well surrender. He's amazingly accurate with the G36E or any other gun, he almost always hits you in the head, and if not, he gets you in the chest so fast that you dont have time to react. Just play on Moders Karkand a few times, and chancse are you'll play with him.
If I had a clan, I would. Could I just get a group of guys I play with to do it?
Yeah, why would you log 600 hours on a 2nd or 3rd account. Look at -=RD=-Volx's stats, hes #3 in the world. I doubt hes on a second or 3rd account, same with BushViper, they're just that good.CrazeD wrote:

I feel the same way as you and also only have a 3:1-ish K/D ratio. A good armor user will take out the other armor before attacking infantry, because that not only keeps you safe, but makes it easier on your teammates...genius_man16 wrote:
So what do you think the best type of tank whore is? Is it the traditional Karkand spawn raper? or is it someone who goes after vehicles?
Personally i think that it should be someone who goes to flags and gives cover while the infantry cap it, and isn't hesitant to take on other tanks or vehicles. I think that the Karkand spawn rapers are pussy's who should all burn in a flaming hole... but that's just me
btw, i'm the first one... that's why i only have a 3:1 K/D instead of a "true tank whore's" 5 or better
Great guide, unfortuneatly, I find it more fun to play as MEC on Karkand, so I pretty much never win, so I'll probably never get the WCR and I'm fine with that.
Heres my idea for a perfect map. It's about the same landscape as Daquing Oilfields, but much bigger, but instead of the Oil Drums and stuff in the middle, there is a large building that a lot of intense infantry firefights take place in. Think Iron Gator, or inside the Warlord Palace. However, outside the building, there is a lot of open plains and small lakes. The building is under construction in some spots. Think Sharqi construction site with far fewer holes to shoot in, so tanks and APC's cans shoot in, but not be very effective. Each team gets 1 Fighter, Bomber, 2 Attack Choppers, and a Transport Chopper. Each team also gets a 2 Linebackers/Tunguskas, 2 tanks, 2 APCs, and 3 Transport vehicles. The open part of the map should feel like Operation Smoke Screen with a lot of Open Tank battles and Air to Ground Attacks from Planes/Helos, as well as a lot of air to air combat. So while this is happening, all the infantry lovers and people who scream "OMG!1!!! tANK wh0rez are weeeeeak n00b hax0rz" can battle it out all they want in the middle of the building. The MEC team holds the inside of the building, which is a future Communications site, and the USMC has set up a small camp with a few Mounted MG's and a spawnpoint 20 meters away on the outside. There are another 3 spawn points out in the open fields, and each team has an uncappable airfield with the choppers and planes, but a cappable base with their armor and AA about 75 meters in front of it.
I'd call it something like Urban Raid or something, since the main chokepoint of the map is inside the building, but also the tank and helo users can get their kills outside the building. Also there would be 2 cranes near the building and not too high above it for snipers.

Ok, my BF2 ran perfectly fine all day today, then I went to get back on tonight, and I logged in abnormally fast. So I joined a server, which also loaded faster than usual. Once I was in the server, my mouse couldnt move, neither could any keys do anything, not even ESC. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete out several times and tried this several more times. My mouse was always in the same spot when I joined the server too. I searched but I didnt see anyone with the same problem. Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

In the Wiki weapons section, under "Hand Grenades", it says "Class: All", which isn't true because the Anti Tank class does not get Hand Grenades. I just noticed this cause I've been home sick all day...

What server is it? Based on the fact that you havent said the IP, or name, is it a Pistol/Knife server? Ha, I'm just kidding, but thats strange nonetheless. I had this problem with Moders Karkand awhile back, which I play on a lot. Just wait a day or two and it should be fine, until then find a new server.
Edit: On second thought, I bet it is Pistol/Knife only because you just happened to get "lucky", and get your Expert Knife and Pistol Badge in the same day. Unlikely...

Haha, that made me laugh, and I needed that this morning to wake me up, lol.
I think its exactly the opposite. I can chase a private around emptying clips in his direction because I know I'll probably get him anyway, but when I meet a Colonel, I prone, take out my G36E and aim right for the head, because I know I'm dead if I dont get him as quick as I can.
A good idea, but you have to think to yourself, these strategies are going to not work more than half the time because you'll have idiots on your team stealing the APC, guys in tanks, spec ops, etc... trying to stop you. The key to being a good squad in BF2 is being able to adapt to the situation. If you need to pound it out at Hotel for awhile, to try and advance, do that. If you can get by and take Square, Suburb, and Train Accident, do that. Same with other maps. I'm not doubting your idea or skills as being a strategic player, but you need to be able to have multiple strategies and be able to change on the fly. The best teamplay I've had going on the BF2s Server is when I was commander, and I could tell the BF2s squad to go wherever I needed them cause I knew they could get the job done, and they were able to adapt based on what enemy squads were doing. Unfortuneately, there was some really good players on the other team and we lost the round 3-0
Good thinking though Superfly_Cox, +1 for you for taking the time to come up with some good strategy, hopefully it can be put to use if the oppurtunity presents itself

I just started to get into the whole BF2 Editor thing, and I want to make a new really fun map to play with my friends or even some of you guys if you want, I want to get your input on some ideas. I want it to be a big map, like Wake, with Jets & Choppers, but also a lot of closed quarters infantry fighting, Iron Gator style. Give me some of your suggestions. Thanks!
Someone driving a full APC into your Jet while taking off, giving you 5 teamkills takes the cake easily...

The way I avoid locks, is I go into a full loop, and about halfway through, flip upside down, taking you in the other direction, and then finish my loop and I'll either lose the other pilot, or end up behind him.
I have only seen Nyte in action, and played with him once on Saturday Game night, so I'd have to vote for him as of now, but if I ever happen to play with any of those other guys, I'll come back and maybe change my mind/

In my opinion, if they can help win the game by preventing the other team from spawning, other than by taking all flags, its generally a cheap tactic.
Dont know what number but here goes one...
Soldiers can fire a Light Machine Gun with unbelieveable accuracy while upside-down and rolling to their left without even finishing their roll first.

This is a more useful tactic on Sharqi than anything else. Since there are lots of buildings for the low flying helicopter pilot to move around, when you stay close to buildings and in alleys, it is much harder for them to manuver to make a decent shot without hitting something, or making themselves an easy target for AA or an Anti Tank kit user. On Wake, Fushe, Dragon Valley, etc...Your best bet when a plane or helo is headed for your tank is to get out, run away, and hope they miss so you can get back in.DSRTurtle wrote:

Otherwise very interesting perpesctive.
Before we get started, this guide is being written to inform you of how to use armored vehicles, such Tanks/APC's for the good of the team, rather than to tell you how to shred infantry to pieces at their spawn points to get points. Armor is a powerful part of the game that can be used to swing the momentum of a round if used correctly.
Okay, here we go.
1 - The primary role of armor, is to engage in combat with other armor. If you look at my stats, my Armor K/D ratio is around 2.5-3.0 because I use it to take out other armor. Often people will have rounds of 20-0, 30-0, etc, because they used their armor simply to elimante infantry. Armor should only fire upon infantry if they have first eliminated any surrounding armor, unless the infantry you are firing at is a Spec Ops soldier attempting to plant C4 on your vehicle, or an Anti Tank soldier with a lock on your vehicle. Since armor is so powerful, it is important to keep as little armor from the opposing team alive as possible. Once youve eliminated an opposing teams tank, you have 30 seconds for the driver to respawn and the tank to respawn, and another 30 seconds to get back to his original position. Use this time to fire upon infantry.
2 - Use the UAV to your advantage. Far too often I'll see someone in a Tank/APC, camping the alley spawns on Karkand, only to be C4'ed by someone they could have easily eliminated. The key to using the UAV, is seeing which way people are looking. If you have already eliminated any opposing armor threats, then first take out the infantry soldiers who are facing you, because they are more likely to be Anti Tank kit users, attempting to take out your tank. Also, in armor, your worst enemy is the TOW/HJ-8. This is the only thing other than a lucky hit in the front treads, C4, or AT Mines, that can take you out in one hit. Use the UAV to check for people heading for the TOW, and destroy it before they can use it.
3 - Know the map and your surroundings. Get to know each and every map in the game at least 3 times. Even if you dont like the map, such as Songhua Stalemate or Daqing Oilfields, it is good to know the map just in case. When using armor, it is important to know which flags other armored vehicles will be coming from, so that you can prepare for them, or take them out before anyone even gets in them. Also, if you know all of the TOW/HJ-8 sites, it is much easier for you to strategically place yourself somewhere where you will be least likely to be hit.
4. Armor shells can penetrate light materials. For example, windows, small fences, etc. I was playing Mashtuur once, and got 10 kills simply from shooting into the hotel windows. If you see someone run behind a fence, dont immediately go look for more infantry to kill, fire a round where you expect him to be, and you will more than likely hit him or kill him.
5. Do not stay still in armor. Parked armor is a prime target for the C4 of a Spec Ops soldier. Capping flags in armor is generally not a good idea, but if you find yourself doing it anyway, it is best to press the C button to change the view so you can see all around your vehicle.
6. Use armor as a scare tactic. If you see a squad of infantrymen from your team about to ambush a flag, pull up your armor to keep opposing infantry away. All players realize that 9 out of 10 times, a tank will obliterate infantry. Using your tank to support a squad capturing a flag helps them a great deal.
7. Stay as far from open streets or fields as possible. Since tanks are slow moving they are prime targets for TV Guided Missles or bombs from Fighter Jets. If you can, stay close to buildings, in alleys, or anything that would affect the view of a pilot.

I love to take out a bunch of members of the same clan in a row, like this:
I was playing Oman, and there was a 6 man squad, all in a transport chopper, with all 5 guys except the pilot as Anti Tank, and the driver as Support. They would fly around pretty high and just obiliterate any armor on the ground very quickly. The two guys on the miniguns would take out infantry, and when armor came, there was just a rain of AT Rockets headed for it. It was really cool looking, wish I wouldve taken a sceenshot. Pretty effective tactic though, just wanted to share with you guys...
Ok, I just got banned for excessive teamkilling after a jet hit my hovering chopper giving me two teamkills, an APC ran into my jet while I was taking off, and then another person ran in front of my jet while I was taking off. I'd appreciate if you'd unban me considering Echo, Negerkungen, and HellHead have probably played with me enough to know I'm not a teamkiller...Thanks guys and sorry for the trouble.
