I have an oly lift competition this wednesday (casual open-door tournament after a 9-week course), but now I've got shoulder impingement, so I won't be lifting until the comp, on the day itself I'll pop 2 ibuprofen and not lift after that for 2 weeks.

I've always been rather skeptical about using a belt. Managed to get pretty far without one so never saw the point.
Today, this guy saw me getting ready to DL 115kg and asked me if i used a belt. He told me how much of a difference it makes from 120 and onwards and asked me if i wanted to borrow his to try it out. Holy back-support batman, what a difference. I've been stuck at 140-150 for a while now, but I think using a belt might just be what's going to push me over the edge when it comes to lgoing form 3 to 4 plates.
I also decided to minimize bulking. I'm at 73-75kg now and would really want to focus on strength whilst bulking up to a solid 75+ so I can cut down to the sub-73kg weightclass if I ever want to do anything competatively. Although, that would be a long time from now, considering I dont feel comfortablt competing until I can DL at least 4 plates.

I always start DLs too, the exhaustion they cause is well worth considering I wouldn't be doing as good at them as I am now if I'd do them later on. I suppose 3x8 has its benefits when it comes to building size, but if you want to get your 1RM up, which, let's face it, is what you most likely want on DL, considering that there are plenty of other exercises more suited for building mass, you should try 5/3/1. Just watch your 1RM shoot up in a cycle or two.Jaekus wrote:
Yeah I'll definitely look into it. I find 3x8 now absolutely exhausts me and DLs are what I begin every other workout with.
Didn't Brad Pitt acquire the rights to World War Z because some other actor wanted it aswell as his first production? I thank that was why it was such a rush job and why the production is such a mess.
I still want to see it though and it might not look so bad to me considering that I seem to be the only person on earth that's never even heard of the source. A PG13 zombie movie doesn't forbode anything good though.

You should give 5/3/1 a go. I was stuck at a 1RM of 120, and thanks to that I managed to go up 20kg quite easily. It might be preference thing, but the rate at which you add weight is perfect for me.Jaekus wrote:
Nice one. 3 plates is my current 1RM. I've found DLs a real struggle at 3x8 112.5kg now so I think I might reduce the reps for the sets for the purpose of increasing weight.
Last week, an Eastern European giant approached me after my deadlifts, telling me my stance was too wide and that I would be able to pull more weight if i narrowed it. I had been stuck at 130kg DL for some time, and every time I did it, I would struggle and sometimes even fail.
Today I tried it with a narrower stance. My 5/3/1 only had to go to 130kg 1x, but it felt doable to do 140. I decided to give it a go, considering that it is seomwhat of a milestone. Lo and behold, I lifted the almighty 3 plates.

And for people that don't consider it "trance", it still is GOOD music in general. Anyone complaining that it is too "4-chord" or "pop-like" are idiot hipsters who would listen to any piece of trash that poor "misunderstood" and "underground" DJs produce. With that attitude, I'm thankful these trashy DJ's will be poor for life and people like Armin clean up. I hope these DJ's end up ODing on their own MDMA, meth, penis, or whatever anti-society things they are into. But hey, at least they OD'd while telling themselves "...hey man, I did it all for the MUSIC, those fag mainstream DJ's have lost their ways, true electronic music still lives on..." with all 5 or 6 fans surrounding him/her. At least the gene pool is slowly being cleansed.
Just because you hate him for being mainstream and successful doesn't make me a troll (FYI, he started as an underground DJ and made his way to the top with pure skill/dedication, he didn't "sellout" to "evil" corporations as that is probably what you're thinking since you're a hipster and all).

I haven't heard the new album yet (getting to it). There was only one track form the new album that they played during the live show that didn't really blow me away all that much as the rest of the new ones did.
I went to see Mount Kimbie and Vondelpark last friday.
Now I've seen both before at the same event, but this time Mount Kimbie really stole the show. Last time, Vondelpark was about to release their new album and dropped a couple of new tracks that I had not hear before, but this time Mount Kimbie had the honour of playingg some of their (then) unrealesed stuff which I hadn't heard before. Not the bet venue for MK (was okay for VP), but still an excellent show

Having two speakers on one desk makes it kind of hard to put both in a wall socket, but the buzzing one is currently in a strip with loads of stuff so that could be it. I'll fiddle around with it the moment I get home
if you think having active monitors is bad, you should introduce a turntable or amplifier into the equation. trying to play audio from an analogue sound-source is buzz/hum haven. you have to go to a lot of expense and effort to make sure a turntable is properly earthed.

Let's hope they copy paste vanilla Wow, add some of the good later features. And nog copy the very few flaws that it had.

Dawnguard looked ok when it was first announced, but for what they're charging all you get is a small consolation price of the oh so amazing DLC we were promised. A small vampire area only worth a few hours of gameplay with crossbows (which had already been made by the modding community) and house decorating (a believe there were also similar mods to fulfill this very unnecessary role). Thanks Bethesda, your new MMO looks real promising!

I have the shittiest joints in the history of lifting and the bicep exercise that doesn't hurt for me is preacher curls. The support really helps.
And of course you could always use cables. They are painless for me, but I don't do them because it simply doesn't feel like it's hitting the muscle as well as actual (preacher) curls.

And yes, undead ruins every cool piece of gear. I regret playing that character, but once that regret hit me I was too far in.

I had an undead warrior, mainly for PvE, but was getting back into PvP near the end. I quit in may '09 (knowing this date often makes me feel like an addict who looks back at his last hit with great nostalgia and regret) and haven't resubbed since. I played it for about 1h on a friend's account not too long before the panda release and what a joke that game has become. The transforming gear was the first thing I noticed, as my friend proudly showed me how he did old raids solo (one's I actually worked for) over and over again to get a cool looking set whilehis actual gear was 50/50 blue and epic. The cities were full of people in t2 gear, all flying on sparkly winged dildos. It's like they're giving mounts away, rather than having to actually achieve something for it or grind for hours and hours.
Played a couple of battlegrounds and you just couldn't tell who was strong and who wasn't because everyone was wearing a set of some sorts without actually owning it. The amount of HP people have have become ridiculous and the old simple PvP experience just felt severely watered down.
Such a sad state of affairs because I love a good MMO.

In the 2nd cycle of 5/3/1 you just add 5kg to squat and deadlift and 2.5 to bench and ohp right?
I wasn't too sure if you added it to your 1RM or to the individu amount across the schedule.

Spielberg's films don't all suck imo, but do they have all that much artistic merit? No, not really. He's so mainstream because all his movies are the same in style, writing, music and plot, very similar at the very least. He makes good hollywood feel good films and that's all he does. He has never really had a niche. I supposed that's why he's so influentel. Anyone that makes a feel good film for the whole family (not all) with a dramatic point in the plot will have a movie like spielberg's. This specifically might not go for all spielberg's films, butthey are all overdramatized and actually quite shallow, hardly doing anything new or exciting. Most of his films are just very simple and predictable drama with a happy ending in most cases. The masses might shed a tear, maybe get in a 'oooooooh' or a laugh or two, but that's a bout it.
All of that's exactly what's considered high art in the oscars, so he can have as many of those as he wants.
The whole concept of having expensive crossfit gyms and certified crossfit trainers that give you your daily (or weekly?) workout to inexperienced people and teach them completely skewed basics, all for outrageous amounts of money (compared to a regular gym and trainer) just doesn't sit right with me

Dont't worry, the core, and more, are still there. It's looks like a very solid routine and I'm excited to get started on an actual pre-made routine used by many others and not some routine of my own creation.
However, I just can't get behind the idea of combining such a rather precise performance like weightliftig with raw endurance and sprint-like sets. It's asking for injuries imo. A lot of the exercises and routines they invent are also complete and utter shite, but moet of this is beside the point because if you give it your own safe twist and do it right it could work (still highly debatable if it is any better than a regular lict routine), but so many people hate on it because it had almost formed a cult, people that act cocky and douchy thinking they are better and know it better than thise boring regular ole lifters.
If it works for you and you don't get injured, go for it, but don't get caught in the scammy cult.
