So, no second Meritorious then ..... and a message every *%&#* time
If you look here
http://www.bf2s.com/player/45820894/
you will see I have the MEC Special Forces Servive Ribbon, also the NorthAmerican Service Ribbon, but
i wont give me the ribbon.
Each time I enter BF2, I get the You have received the Meritorious Service Medal message. It never updates.
U guys have any idea whats the problem?

To pay each month for playing a game like WoW is A SUCKER BUSINESS. What are you actually paying for? Hardware is cheap.
In BF2 skill depends ONLY on what you yourself put into the game. You don't get any help from the level you are on, or for how many hours you have played, or what weapon you have bought. You ability to succeed in BF2 only depends on what you do with the mouse and keyboard in front of the screen when you play and nothing else.
I have gotten into Guild Wars, a fine MMO with no fee. The world looks great. In WoW you expect Donald Duck to pop up any moment. MMOs are more social than a shooter. It's fun to be part of a guild and do missions together. It's a fine break from a shooter, but there is no real skill involved in playing the game.
My 2 cents...

Yep, I can relate to this. The addiction. The feeling of never getting enough. And there really is no other game that can match BF2. Team Fortress and CS seem banal in comparison.
Do this:
BF2 is going to be around for a long time. Prepare yourself for the long haul...
Do this:
- Don't play the same map and the same kit all the time. Try out all aspects of the game. That's the secret behind the success of BF2 (and something BF2142 will never match).
- Don't play for stats alone. Then you will end up hating the game. Don't take stats too seriously.
- Have other gaming interests. I have recently gone into Guild Wars (subscription-free MMO). It's more social and is a fine break from the grim realities of shooters.
- Leave BF2 for awhile or just play on week-ends.

Gimme that Helicopter Combat Medal. I hate standing in that group pressing 'E' and then having some pilot fly me into a tree. I'll never get all those chopperkills ...
American Service Ribbon, cause I'll never buy AF ....
Yep. That's important. I forgot to mention it. Without someone dropping Ammo (or commander good at dropping crates), you can't get this badge.....!Jinto-sk wrote:
I got mine claymore whoring the tv station on Warlord, you need a buddy who is support to keep dropping you Ammo and persistant opposition who keep trying over and over again.
I was 2 away doing the same on shiraqi tv station
Yeah, finally got it .... Expert Explosive Ordinance !!
Here are the basic conditions:
So last night all the conditions were met. The initial attack on Hotel was fierce and gave me 16 Claymore kills pretty fast, with about 220 tickets left. Then Suburb (I think) fell. This distraction meant that Hotel also did fall, which meant that I got about 7 more Claymore defending Square. Then Square also fell. At this point it is usually difficult to get many more Claymore kills... But the teams were balanced, and my team managed to defend Train, and I got 3 more here. Finally we counter-attacked Square, and I got the last 4 around this flag (see the picture).
I managed to get another 2 Claymore kills and even had time to play some Medic. After a round of about 50 minutes my MEC team won 2-0 ... which just shows how important time and balanced teams are.
Also important is that I had only 1 [Killed] result and the rest were [Claymore] . That's luck.
So, I would say that this badge is 50% long map, 30% skill and 20% good luck .....
Here are the basic conditions:
- Playing Sniper and using Claymores. This is better than trying with C4 runs (that was how I got Vet Explosive ... with a lot of suicides ).
- Infantry only map. Vehicles tend to make for shorter games and fewer people running into your Claymores.... .
- Half-full 64-player Karkand map. This is important because full maps last too short. Too few players is also bad, because then there is not enough 'action'.
- Two teams that are balanced and want to win. This is important as such a game lasts longer because flags are contested all the time. At least one flag must be US controlled on Karkand for the game to last .

ummm yes, nice, want that Medal of Valor too ... 1500 driver points to go
Doubt if you guys are very impressed with this one -->
Yeah, I was disappointed with the demo.
Dark, unimaginative map. You can't seem to sprint. Assualt clip gone in no time. Flying 'chopper' with no gun for pilot? Hoover-tank can't hoover over water and crashes! A lot of fancy new visuals, but that really doesn't add much.
lol ... I hope the other maps are more cheerful ... I don't think many want to spend too much time in doom and gloom.
Soooo...... not gonna buy it, certainly not now.

Thanks. You need to love BF2 (and have a lot of spare time) to get that medal...Todd_Angelo wrote:
Now that's a sweet shot! Two-for-ones are always good. Congrats dude.
Now what I need is Expert Explosive...
I am still undecided about 2142.
I don't break to green on a futuristic setting, because quite frankly I think it sounds stupid.
The main point is how 2142 will play as a game. It is also important if it has something really new and special in comparison with BF2. If not, I can just as well continue with BF2.
So I'll just wait and see how it turns out. I wont be the first to rush and buy it, nope...

Artillery makes the game more dynamic. It makes u want to move on and cap flags. Artillery can help a team alot, both clearing areas on offense and defending flags about to be taken.
The only problem with artillery is dropping it on uncappable flags or when a side only has one flag remaining. Then it may be like baserape.
I used to dislike artillery. Thought it was pointless. But it is one of the unique features of BF2. One of the fun things as commander is to try to find the enemy commander and hit him with artillery... LOL.

Agree. Got my Purple Heart on FuShe Pass. A lot of capping and a rain of death from above, but we won the round. Since then I have quit a game two or three times not to get it again ... lol ... but if I feel it's worth it once more, then why not ...Elamdri wrote:
Then why are you defending yourself? If its just a game then you shouldn't really care.
Back on topic. Purple Hearts aren't really a bad thing. It shows that you sacrificed your game for the team. For example, one round while trying to get the league of Merit and Veteran First Aid awards, I got the purple heart (later got enough kills to get out of the range). However that game I got around 80 points. I would call that sucky. It just means that I sacrificed my game by helping to improve the games of my team.
And on the round I did get it, I stayed and played, even though I new I had no chance of surving a spawn.
How you suspect someone is using aimbot?
Speed of reaction: like if a parachuter hits the ground and in a flash turns, fires and kills you.
Long range kills with small arms: 'magic' shooting from far away.
The more you play, the more you know what normal kills mostly are. Allow for a lucky shot. Don't cry 'Cheater' every time ...
And don't let the cheaters ruin your game ... go to a different server ... some servers are reknown for all the cheaters, one or two begins, then the rest feel they must follow ... just find another server ...

lol.... understand this. The Helo ribbon was the last ribbon I got. Choppers are so easily shot down and so many want to fly them.... Seemed like I would never get those 15 minutes....zimmer92 wrote:

Joining the squad around the flag is likely not the thing to do, because the squad is full. Still, the sooner the flag is yours......
Taking up position a way off can both provide support and spawn, but you can get fragged by artillery or enemy. Who dies first? Those at the flag or those around it.......
Hide? Well yes, but enemy will drop their own UAV and you will be spotted alone.......

Here is the situation. You are the squad leader of a full squad. You have chosen the Support Class. The map is Karkand and you are the USMC. Your squad has managed to sneak behind enemy lines and has reached the MEC home base, the Factory on the far side of the river. You and your squad is about to cap the flag. You see no enemies around, but they can pop up any time. What do you now do?
Yuuuuuuuuhuuuuuu!! Got Vet Ordinance!!!
I was not killed......I was just dead drunk lying on the ground!!!!!
The wire u see to the left is the fence near Train Accident on Karkand.
After 2 months, 300+ suicides and 700+ C4 kills, I finally got it. I didn't expect to get it on Karkand, but it was on a 40/64 server that went slow, with a 45 minute time limit. As you see, I got the badge when 21 of the 45 minutes remained. The game did not last more than about 5 minutes, and I ended with a total of 26 kills in all.
The Expert Ordinance is not impossible. If the round had lasted for a full 21 more minutes, I might very well have gotten it.
My advice: DO NOT play for badges, because that will only give u a lot of frustration. Skill in a game like BF2 has much more to do with knowing when the conditions are right for stuff. In this round the conditions started out right, they continued to be right, and I got the badge!

I voted 'where people are capturing flags' - The single most important feature of UAV is to prepare for enemies spawning (or arriving) before and after neutralizing a flag.
'around the majority of soldiers' - When u are in the middle of combat, u will rearly need UAV.
'where the commander sees some random enemies' - This is better done with an 'Enemy Spotted', but do not clog the intercom with such messages, just spot the important movement, like when enemy is going to Suburb on Karkand.
A good squad leader will usually ask the commander to have UAV dropped when the squad is nearing an enemy flag. That is what UAV is for, to be at the disposal for the squads. The Commander has his own Spotted-command for individual spots done with the scan.

Ok, thanks.
I voted 'On the flag the enemy is trying to take over'.
I would not fire here if the flag was contested or team members would soon arrive. As a rule, I'd rather drop artillery just after the flag has fallen. The risk for team-kills is then less.
Other options: 'On the flag your team is trying to take over': Yes, this is when artillery has most effect, clearing the path for your team but before they are at the flag.
'On the carrier'. LOL. This is usually base-raping on Wake, but I have been known to do it ... hehe ... but that comes low on the list.
