I completely agree with everything after "In short:", the US DOES have nearly unchallengable conventional power. BUT, the US is a very unconventional war. We go through painstaking measures to minimize civilian deaths. But in the end, its humans on the ground. When you are told you have to go through 5 steps of force escalation before you neutralize a target (as nearly all police/military organizations in a half-civilized country have), but a car pulls out 30 meters from you (well within range of killing you if it is a VBIED), you have one chance and one chance only to eliminate that threat before it kills you and the men you consider your family. Comes down to a decision made by a human, regardless of his national origin. Immoral things happen in war. Thats inherent to the concept of war. Get over it.Bubbalo wrote:
You fail to understand what I'm saying.
Both the US army and it's foes engage in activities which are immoral. Therefore, they are both as bad as each other. The US army engages in them less often and in activities which are, arguably, less immoral, but they are also more powerful and therefore able to maintain power without engage in said activities as often or to as high a degree.
In short:
There is one primary difference between the US and it's foes: that the US has more conventional power. This explains all other differences. If roles were reversed, the US would be doing exactly what their foes are doing now.
And what does that mean? Granted, I have been drinking a bit, I may be completely missing the point as i sometimes do, but are you implying that the US Marines are suicide bombers? If i have completely misunderstood this than i promise i will slap myself for it. Otherwise, well...CameronPoe wrote:

i have one GB ram and vista runs just fine. i really enjoy it for everyday use. i would advise using xp pro for a little bit longer, wait for some time to pass and a service pack to be released, as there are still comptability issues and small bugs being worked out. but just installing it now is great too.
note: if you do duel boot MAKE SURE you install XP and THEN vista. Doesnt work the other way around. At least not very easily. I was extremely cranky for two days trying to get it to work before i gave up on it.

Do you have some advanced politcal background that we dont know about that gives you an edge in analyzing this complex situation? Cause i just dont see it. I see parroting of the same "propoganda" over and over.

An overblown sense of self-importance and power in relation to their real place in the world. Put simply, you can tell me not to question you or any other former or present marine all you want. Just don't expect me to do anything but laugh. That is your interpretation. I will assure you that my sense of importance is not overblown. When I was 14 years old I had the misfortune of watching my parents get mugged, and murdered in front of my very eyes. It is something I rarely speak of and will speak of it no futrther in here. On my own with some help from friends parents and some family who pretended to give a fuck I made my way until I was 17 and enlisted. It was the only family I had at that point, I had nobody to congratulate me for such an accomplishment and when we graduated on Parris Island and everyone ran to their mothers and shared cigars with their fathers I quietly lifted my seabag over my shoulder, forfeited my leave time I had earned and checked into my next duty station. I vowed that from that point forward that I was going to try and do something good in the world. Something. Save one persons life or at least try to make it better. It was the healthiest way I knew how to deal with my personal tradgedy and it gave me the opportunity to fill an important void, sense of importance. I went from having nothin, absolutely freaking nothing, sharing an apartment with some community college fucks at the age of 14. Washing dishes after school and picking tobacco during the summer to pay rent. I earned everything I have now...my wife and child, my house, my vehicles, my boat, my job, my college education, my fortitude and drive, my urgency to never ever fail, all to the United States Marine Corps because the gave me a sense of importance. So what may be a chest thumping egotistacal perception you have of me, so be it. When someone takes what has literally saved my life (and many others) and drags its name through the mud, then I want to tear their fucking face off. Will I do it? Nah. But dont think for one second I would not defend the honor of the Marine corps, and its bretherin, to the death. And that I mean.HunterOfSkulls wrote:

I love how this applies to terrorist breeding, fundamentalist assholes, but not to the US. So they have hundreds to thousands of groups and organizations killing each other and attacking the west in the name of God, but just shrug it off, dont let that speak for them. /sarcasm.
