I see where you're going... I have to say that ranking in this game is way too quick, my thought was add the existing Prestige mode to keep it going further but your idea is more what I would really like to have seen instead.0seb--morin0 wrote:
I totally agree with you exept on the prestige mode... I would rather say that they either modify actuall rank or add more rank that would need a lot more point to get and some achievement/challenges to be complete to get the rank. Just like they did with BF2 ( maybe some kids dont know what we are talking about because they always had the actual ranking system but meh...)

I vote Price... women want him, men want to be like him. That and his mutton chops would scare the hell out of any terrorist.
I liked it!
Best part was the Anti-Tank guy who took a grenade point blank and didn't flinch. If you hadn't have shot him afterwards I would have said that he was bullet proof.

My father plays Battlefield 2 all the time and he's 63 years old.
A few months ago we put together a new system for him to play on:
Athlon X2 4400+
2 gigs OCZ ram
eVGA 7900gt
2 300 gig hard drives in a raid array
20.1 inch wide-screen Viewsonic LCD screen
After that he went out and bought the gaming mouse and keyboard from Logitech (G15 and G7).
His stats are not that shit-hot though http://www.bf2s.com/player/64680548/
To his defense... where he lives there is no high speed Internet access. He is only able to play over at my house when I throw a LAN party or when he drags his system over to play for an afternoon. Other than that he plays the single player all the time practicing flying the choppers.

For my job I work for Hewlet Packard on tech support / service desk.
Right now most of my time is taken up by taking care of my new house that my wife and I just bought and taking care of my 3 month old son.
Man, can that little guy take a shit, jeezuz christ!

What I hate is when you list off all of the servers and select them by ping, find one that looks good and click on the server for more info and the ping spikes up to 150+.
I'm not a big fan of how they ping servers, I don't think it's accurate at all. I mean, how does 40+ servers have the exact same ping and then are drastically different two seconds later after you click on them?
Oh, I didn't even mention that the ping in the G15 LCD Battlefield 2 plug-in is different yet again. Crazy pings I tells ya!

That one was my favorite... but it should have been worded more like:ExtremeSpy506 wrote:

Yellow
I thought that I had read somewhere that yellow was the easiest colour to see and was the colour that you would respond to the quickest. At least that was the reason given why they sometimes paint fire trucks that yellowey greeny paint.

The scout helo is fun to fly around. Great for taking out hordes of infantry running away from you on the hillside. But yea, I say that the booster pack is way worth the 10 bucks. Go for it.DonFck wrote:
I've been wondering if buying AF is worth the 10 bucks, but if the scout helo really is that good.. I just might make the purchase!
One easy way to find the AF maps is to just list your servers alphabetically by maps.
Just look out for the maps:
Operation Smoke Screen
Operation Harvest
Midnight Sun
Before you got AF they would show up in the list but just be 'redded' out and you would be unable to join.
Now those maps will show up and you can join them.
Pick a low ping server out of the pile and Join. That simple

Currently my friends and I use Teamspeak.
Tried using Ventrillo, but some people were having problems with it, don't know why
Most of them have X-Fire but every time we have attempted to use that for voice communication it would sound like a skipping record or would drop all/most of the conversation. It lead to people screaming back and forth orders jut to get a "What, I ....... ear you... peat...der....."

I've been an AMD fan myself from waaaay back. Mind you those results do look pretty damn promising for Intel. There seems to be quite the buzz about those procs. The drastic price drop might be an indication that AMD might be a bit worried
I've seen the no kit bug reported on a forum before (not here I don't think) and thought it was neat. A while back I got to see it first hand in a game and thought it was pretty neat. When I saw your post and the pic of the guy holding the mounted gun to his eye I laughed my ass off.
Good stuff, +1 you if I could.

Took off in a fully loaded Black-hawk without realizing that I hadn't set up the controls in the game at all. Managed to take off in a nice slow arc into the ocean. I jumped out at the last second and everyone else died

Only because it was the map in the Demo that came out before the game. I was so damn excited to play this game, downloaded the demo, went to 20 different servers, all lagging like hell... to play. I played the shit out of that demo even with the locked weapons and way too short time limit.

For better cooling of my video card i cut a blow hole in the side of the case right over the video card and mounted an 80mm fan on the inside and funky bat man grill cover. Keeps the card nice and cool. To keep the whole computer cool I mounted two 80mm fans in the rear and two 80mm in the front (one blowing over the three hard drives) and bought a fan bus and mounted that in an unused CD slot. Looks pretty sweet and i can crank it when playing some intense BF2.
I played a game a few months ago on one of the CROW 24/7 servers and got killed. Looked up at the name it said "IScrewedYourMom [grenade] Below_Cost". Almost shot my Honey Nut Cheerios out my nose.
Got a new job a month after that and started shooting the shit about Battlefield 2 with some of my co-workers and started exchanging user names back and forth. Ends up IScrewedYourMom works two people to my right.
Told him he owes me some more Honey Nut Cheerios

I prefer the F2000 myself. When I get a gun without the grenade launcher I find myself wishing it were there.
I voted entirely with my gut instinct, literally. On what food do I like more, Italian vs. Greek. Although Greek food rocks (hmmm... Moussaka) I prefer an nice Italian pasta dish any day.

I can not stand when those damn flies get accurate in their dive-bombing attempts and manage to fly into your mouth or worse your nose.
LOL. My friends and I used to do that to each other in real life in parking lots of malls or wherever we had stopped for a bit. We would all sit in the car and laugh our asses off at that person running.... until that person was you. Then it was no longer funny at all.FrankieSpankie3388 wrote:

I don't consider myself a malicious person at all when playing this game. The worst thing I've done to anyone in the game was on the Wake Map. There were two clan-mates on their own server that were whoring the attack chopper on the carrier over and over again. Any time that someone would take the chopper they would warn them that it was their server and they would kick if you took that chopper. At one point while they were waiting for the chopper they were either not paying attention at all or AFK for a bit and I slowly one by one nudged them into the ocean. Then took the chopper... then got kicked... then never went back again.
Oh yea, I had joined their squad to ask them for a chance to fly/gun for a turn and they just started saying rude shit in French (Quebec server). When they found out that they had taken the ol' carrier triple lundy splash they fucking screamed at me in half english half french obscenities before they kicked me.
I wasn't a real big fan of Special Forces, mind you there are a few fun maps on it that I enjoy. Played Euro Force for a while and didn't really enjoy the maps in that Booster pack. Now, so far I have to say I've really enjoyed playing the new Armored Core booster a hell of a lot.
If I had to do it all over again I'd probably skip the Special Forces expansion, might get Euro Force again and I"d pay the $9.99 in a heartbeat to play the Armored Fury booster.
When they showed the pics of AF before it came out I was really excited to play Operation Road Rage and didn't give a rats ass about the other two maps. Now that I've played for a bit I couldn't give a rats ass about Operation Road Rage and love Operation Harvest and Midnight sun.
All and all I can't complain about $10 bucks for what I got

I rarely punish for a team-kill, unless it's someone blatantly killing fellow teammates. I'll apologize anytime I accidentally kill someone or shoot someone though. I really hate it when you have accidental injured or killed someone and been killed yourself. You can't do a quick 'Sorry' and it takes a second to type in a 'Sorry' and you get a punish in .3 seconds.
I've been in a round where someone has TK'd me twice in a row and I've forgiven him only to have accidentally killed him and gotten a punish immediately after. Fricken asshats.

I vote for 5. Anything higher than that you're either a bad player and need to practice some more or TK'ing intentionally. Drives me nuts when you get on a server and see some asshat on the carrier killing people left and right with a score of -41 and nobody is trying to cap a flag anymore because they are in this TK'ing war.
Boot em' all after 5 kills.

Built a new computer a little while ago just to play BF2 maxed out
AMD 64 4400
2 gigs OCZ ram
7800 gt eVGA video car
Then went out and picked up a Viewsonic VX2025wm wide-screen LCD monitor and now play at 1680x1050 resolutions. HOLY CRAP it looks good with all the settings maxed out.
I have a second older PC that this replaced. An old Athlon 2100 and an ATI 9600xt. Makes me want to cry when I go back and play a game of BF2 on that PC.

My 'Oh Shit' moment is when you are trying to cap a flag in either a tank or an APC and you turn your turret around just in time to see a Spec-Ops diving behind cover with the detonator in his hands. I just grip the keyboard and mouse tightly and BOOM!
Oh hell no
Just because the commander usually is back behind lines away from the battles (or flying a jet, fuck I hate that) doesn't mean you can use an exploit to protect yourself.

Nice job tupla_s. I like the water effects on the ground including the reflection. It does seem a tad dark. A nice lightning bolt in there highlighting the building in the background would lighten it up a bit.tupla_s wrote:

If the plane was indeed removed so that it wouldn't offend anyone due to 9/11 I am 100% against it. If they start removing objects from a game so they don't offend any group they will have to start 'sanitizing' all of their battlefields. It's a war game, about war, set in a war environment... planes will be shot down in a war. I say keep the plane in the game.
If the plane was removed to prevent some sort of glitching or cheat then I'm all for it.

I've never tea-bagged anyone playing Battlefield 2 before and had never really noticed if anyone was tea-bagging me. Usually I'm back on the spawn selection screen before I would have a chance to notice. One day while playing my wife came up and asked me a question. I waited until I got killed, turned around and started talking to her... when all of a sudden she points over my shoulder and asks "What is that soldier doing to your body?". "WHATTHEFUCK!!....". I've never felt so violated before, man I laughed when I saw what he was doing to me. I never think of doing it to another player though.
34 here.
My father plays all the time too. He's 62 years old. Loves playing the game but most of the time all he does is swear a hell of a lot at the computer and collects Purple Hearts like they are going out of style.

Getting kicked for that is lame. I can understand the frustration on their part and why they made the rule. I've been screwed a few times when all I wanted to do was hop in a jeep and join the battle, only to have someone jump in the jeep when I'm only a few feet away, drive away to the chopper/plane 100 feet away and take off. Then I have to hump my ass the 100 feet away to get the jeep. Annoying... yes. Bannable offense... hell noionescualex wrote:
Playing as PLA on Wake Island 2007, I drove a DPV to the chopper spawn and hopped in. I'm flying toward the USMC artillery island when I'm kicked for the following reason: "driving to helo spawn." WTF?
Although I agree with you that the kick for taxiing to the runway is lame. Going back and team-killing was even lower. I mean, either you play on their server or you don't. I could see going back and telling them that their rule and kick was retarded, but going back and TK'ing makes you an even bigger retard. It might even make their previous decision to kick you (which was wrong) justified in their eyes.ionescualex wrote:
So I rejoined, spawned as USMC, jumped in the Essex and teamkilled as many people as I could before I got kicked again; sweet fucking revenge.
The lamest server rule that I've encountered was a "ONLY XYZ CLAN MEMBERS CAN FLY ATTACK CHOPPERS". I got a kick for that one

So my question is:
1) Quick seat switching, yes or no?
2) Killing braindead gunners, yes or no? (I don't care if you are the admin, I will gladly teamkill you if you disrespect me and/or act against the team's victory)
2) No
1) The quick seat changing would be somewhat realistic in real life. You could jump from gun and duck inside the Humvee in a real life situation, albeit no where near as fast as one could in BF2. They were just pissed you nailed all four of them at once.
2) I'm sorry... but team-killing for ANY reason just isn't right, especially if it's a "Well, he killed me first" and/or "He disrespected me" situation. He might not have been the best of gunners but no way did he deserve to be killed off for someone soloing a chopper. I'm going back to what's realistic for this one. Switching seats/moving around in a parked ground vehicle is possible... someone jumping from gunner to pilot and back again in an attack chopper is fricken impossible. Honestly I think EA should disable the seat switching in attack choppers just to stop crap like this from happening.
Below_Cost
It started back when Battlefield 1942 came out. My brother-in-law and I would play that game for hours on end and one day we decided to enter in odd/funny names. His was NippyNineToes and mine was Below_Job (not really that funny mind you). After picking our names we played for most of the day with no problems. We ended up on one server and after about 2 minutes the admin sent a message that he did not approve of our names and had to be changed immediately. Before we had the chance to exit and change names we both got kicked.
I quickly changed 'Job' to 'Cost' and went back in to play. No thought was involved in the name I picked, was a word association thing. After that we played without incident for the remainder of the day. My brother-in-law noted that my name was pretty appropriate on the account I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to buying electronics or computer gear. I will search for the absolutely lowest price for anything then go to a retailer that has one of those '110% guarantees' for even more money off.... and so it stuck

Similar thing happened to me, but on the chopper side of things. I don't remember what the map was exactly but I had just joined an ongoing game and spawned on the US carrier. I jumped right away into the Black-hawk, waited a few seconds until all the seats were filled and took off... right into the flightpath of an oncoming jet coming in from the north. The wreckage flew up into an oncoming jet flying in from the south and we all came crashing down on the carrier smoking the attack chopper and gunner plus a few other stragglers on deck. Quickest minus score and a boot that I've ever seen.|SoW|MuskieKilla wrote:

After that I went to their web page and apologized on their forums for the f@ck up
you know... I had never thought about there being a separate set of stats for gunner only in the chopper before. Now that you bring it up it makes a ton of sense. They should have put that in a long time ago!
