The purpose of the pin, is to retain the spoon. The spoon is basically a safety to keep a small hammer from igniting a fuse. When the grenade is thrown, the spoon flys free allowing the hammer to strike. At that point you have five seconds (Hopefully) before the grenade detonates. So yes, in actuallity one could hold the grenade forever with no pin in it as long as the spoon remains in place.idiotofwar wrote:
You are incorrect, grenades have a trigger which you hold. When you are holding the trigger, are safe. If you let go it explodes in about 5 seconds. The pin is just to activate it.dctcool wrote:
182. No matter how long you hold onto a grenade without a pin it will never blow up.
OOH FOOKIN RAH!!!! Semper Fi Devil Dogs!!!
So if the tank does not move, throw the grenade on the tank.......BOOM!
Hey Blacklegion, just so you know, I have a K/D of 0.29. You're way better than me. At BF2 I'm at the bottom of the gene pool. LOL, what the hell, I'm having fun anyway. Lots of good tips here thanks fellas.
HMM! think I'll change my nick to Arty Magnet he he.

It pisses me off when some idiot walks into the line of fire or ignores the little red flags with the skull and cross bones in em. Naturally they want to punish you for their own stupidity.
Like those moments when your wife looks over your shouldar and asks "What the hell are you looking at?"
Try to explain it aint a porn sight.

Nothing pisses me off more than climbing into the gunners seat, only to have the damn pilot roll the cobra into the drink half a heart beat off of the carrier. If you can't fly the goddam thing, stay the hell out of the pilots seat. Start your own game and learn to fly with no around to kill you.
I'm one of the random gunners, who likes to jump on in. If i'm lucky, I can get several kills with a pilot that knows enough to keep the nose pointed at the targets and helps me engage. The other guys are too busy trying not to crash. I can fly the choppers decently, but I realize that there are better flyers out there than me, so I let them have the controls.
It would be disrespectful to flame you for serving in the Air Force. All three of my sons served proudly in the Air Force as Blue Berets. Thank you lad for your service.SiL3nC31133 wrote:

I love to play this game, even though I suck at it. It's cheaper than golf and avgas, aircraft insurance, etc. I don't have the room or the desire to build hotrods anymore. Nothing on TV is worth watching.
I will continue to play this game until I get bored with it or something better comes along.
I'm sure that Gene does not realize he is the product of over indulgent parents, and at 15 believes he actually has some sort of rights and deserves respect. Respect is something that must be earned, and the only rights he is entitled to are those set by his parents.
May I suggest Gene, that when you graduate high school, you go visit a military recruiter and enlist. There, you will learn some self discipline and really learn how to function as a team.
Good luck to you lad.
By the way, I've added target Gene to my leaderboard. Think I'll do some hunting for a while.

Technically, you could have grandkids kicking your butt!
That happened to me on the Wake Island map. Playing sniper on the US arty Island, only me, here comes the arty. I felt honored, a whole strike for one guy. At least it kept it off of the rest of the squad while they took the airfield. HE HE.
Please, this is a war game. One would have to be a total moron to run around in the open. I have more than a clue as to what I'm doing. I was training REAL MARINES in the art of combat before the best part of you ran down your mothers leg. This game defies reality to say the least. a good 60% of my deaths are due to arty, helos and jets. You dont need tactics with arty and bombs. Many are due to trying to revive a guy in the middle of a shit storm. (I don't do that any more) or pesistantly attacking an objective. The rest are because I suck, but I'm learning and improving. There have been many good tips and constructive critcisms posted in this thread. Yours was not one of them.R3belacT/ wrote:
Cry me a fuckin river. You're getting killed because you're probably running around in the open with no clue of what you're doing...of course we're going to kill you over and over. Yeah, the base rapers are bastards, but deal with it...you can still use different tactics of getting out of the way before they get you. If you want to be good at the game and you take it half way serious, then use your continual ass kickings as a learning opportunity to get better. Jesus

All you need to do is through the hook 10 times for the badge, piece of cake.
Iron Man, you are wrong about me hating any body. As I stated originally, I respect those who have earned their rank through superior ability. For you to disrespect me because of my stats only shows your immaturity. You are entitled to your opinion, but you know what they say about opinions? Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one and they all stink.
Thanks to all those who offered genuine hints and tips.

AH, there it is, Thank you Rick-77 for being constructive and helpful. That gentlemen is taking the time to teach.
HEH HEH I'mloving this, HATE MISERY AND DISCONTENT.
But, many of you are missing the point.
My stats or how I play has nothing to do with this post. Many of you guys are far too serious. Games are about fun. And yes, newer players should be able to learn from the more experienced, but if the more experienced don't take the time to teach, their knowledge is pointless.

Well Thomas, you have an interesting conflict going. You have roughly 242 hours playing in a month and a half, but you speak of rent and tuition. So tell me, when do you find time to work?
Ryan, no one said more experience was any ones fault, and it's not about having a bad day. A bad day is when you wake up dead. It's about attitude, suck it up and get over yours.
imdead, as a team player you are one of the rare ones, congrats.

Every day is bad for me mate
An open letter, with no direspect intended.
Many of you have had this game from day one and have played many hours to get where you are. I respect your abilities and your knowledge. However, after reading many of these threads, I am beginning to see a pattern. You constantly bitch about the "NOOBS, this whore or that whore, or how some guy that really sucks takes your precious JET, HELO, TANK, etc. After all, how dare they, after spending $40.00 to $50.00 for this game; expect to join a server, and use the available assets on the map.
You talk about team play which at least 75% of you don't do. You talk about how you despise stat padders, which most of you do by hunting down those with less experience. You can do this because you have played these maps so long, you know all the spawn points and good hiding places, and the best place to lay in ambush for the unsuspecting. I don't fault you this, after all you want the points, awards, and bragging rights.
The problem is that new guys get their ass handed to them while you guys improve your K/Ds. The new guys get discouraged and pissed off because their stats suck. I know that all of you guys are not like that, but enough of you are.
So for all you NOOB haters and purists, why don't you guys get your own servers and allow no one under the rank of Gunny? Maybe then the rest of us guys that suck could actually play a game and make some kills with out spending the majority of the time spawning in, and without having some 10,000 kill high ranker waiting for us to appear so he can kill us again.
Just a thought.

I will usually forgive a TK, unless it is blatant. If you frag me for some bullshit reason you will be punished. Other than that, shit happens out there, and I'm savvy enough to realize that most team kills in a fire fight are unintentional. I lost a lot of points because some idiot walks into my line of fire and then wants to punish me for a team kill.
In real life, the M-24 has approximately a 1 inch drop at 600 meters. Since you can't see that far on any BF2 map, the trajectory should be fairley flat. The M-95 should just as if not more accurate within the range limitations of the game. With either of these weapons, with a damage rating of 90; one shot one kill should be the rule. Any shot aimed at the head should destroy your targets brain housing group.
No offense taken dude, I can't seem to spawn into a game without being artyed in the first ten seconds. Bullets come around corners to get me. Ghosts with knives descend upon me in hordes, and attack choppers hover over me like a black cloud of doom. Guess its a curse. But...I payed my $40.00 and I'm gonna play and have fun doing it.
I find myself in awe of those who can kill 40+ guys in a round and only die 5 or 6 times. Wonder how the hell they do it. Guess I should spend some time in a fighter bomber, raining death and virtually untouchable from the ground.
But on those rare occasions when you see DRB_Black [PKM] WHOEVER. For that brief moment in time, you sucked worse than me!!! Small consolation, but I feel better. LOL

I joined the USMC in the fall of 1971. I retired as a Master Sergeant in 1992 right after Desert Storm. Most of that time I was in Combat Infantry, then I went to Quantico as a PMI. I've seen the real shit, bled some too, and HELL yes, you do what ever it takes to survive. The morons that showboated were the first to die and there aint no goddam respawn. You're right Dung Bomb, most rabbit hunters do use a shotgun don't they!! Guess it's time to go huntin' This game is nothing like real life and is meant to be fun, so go right ahead and hop sweetpea. Killed a swimmer by pinning him between my Zodiac and the carrier hull.
Two feet is a hell of a long way when some spawn camper is waiting to pop you in the ass when you revive. Then too, there always seems to be a split second of disorientation after being revived. Usually enough for the spawn camper to get a real good bead on you.
I have a few hours of playing Medic. It's what I do in real life. I am a paramedic. Street rule one: Never attempt a rescue that will put your life at risk. If I think I might die trying to save you, SIN LOY GI, you can respawn any where you want, it's your K/D not mine. If I see that your life bar is damn near gone I will try to get you a health pack. Don't be a DICK and run away when you see me coming or draw me into someone else line of fire. I will defend my position, and help to capture one, but the medics job is to keep the team healthy and THAT my friend is the priority. ALSO, like the spec ops and engineers, I have no body armor it would be nice if you SO_CALLED team players gave my ass a little cover fire when I'm trying to give aid to one of your squad mates instead of jumping into a vehicle and leaving my ass hanging in the breeze so some MEC fuck can pop me. (For those of you who are too young to know, SIN LOY is Vietnamese for TOUGH SHIT)
My opinion is that all Bunny Hoppers, Dolfin Divers and fricken cheaters are COWARDS with NO HONOR. I may die alot, but I die in place fighting with HONOR.
What I don't understand, is how I can put five to ten rounds in some clown, only to have him drop prone fire one round, and I'm the one that dies. I have Comcast cable and play low pings, and I have two gigs of ram with a 3 gig P-4 processor. My vid card is kind of lame ATI 300XL 128 mb; but that should not make a difference.
I know I hit the guy cuz I see the dust cloud. I'm not bitching about the younger guys with a faster reaction time over this old fart that I am, just the assholes I know I have the drop on and then I die anyway. I die enough just sucking at the game, but come on five rounds from a PKM in the chest should kill anyone.

How about the ghost players? I have moved into a position in a low crawl, nobody around, nothing on the hud then suddenly OOPH I get killed with a knife out of no where. WTF?
Am I missing something, or arent you stuck with the maps the server puts up. Without jumping from server to server that is. I like to be evenly balanced and suck at them all. LOL

Look at my stats, and you can see why I got mine. I always win the Arty lottery when picking a spot to spawn in. I would have to say that a good half of my deaths are due to the god dam arty. And then there are the spawn campers, but hell it's war right. The rest of the deaths, well yes I suck. But you know, I do have over a thousand kills and it gives me great satisfaction to take out some of you arrogant I'm so good at this game assholes. If you're really that good, you don't need to blow your own horn. Oh BTW the term "this or that is so GAY" are you guys 13 or just .... well we won't go there.
When playing with my clan buds, it's a definate advantage. We developed our tactics on COOP maps, and then switched to ranked servers. Trying to play with out voice come with guys you don't know gets you killed quickly and more often.
So there I was, playing PLA, standing at the heli pad minding my own business, when up spawns this noob with a tube. I guess he wanted the next chopper real bad, cuz he starts bunny hopping like he's on crack and starts popping off rounds with his little pea shooter at me. I tried to ignore his dumb ass, until he took my life bar down to the last two flashing reds. Then the fuck starts to chest bump me trying to push me off the pad. By this time I'm pissed, pull out my knife and drive it into his brain housing group. He died with a loud and satisfying scream, and then the little fuck punishes me with a TK. Go figure.
OOPS! meant to post this in the BF2 area, but hell; the bitch is still the same, LOL

Hell, you guys should not feel bad, I can't even get enough kills in a round for a veteran combat badge.
One can not succesfully serve time for destroying the lives of four people for less than $100.00. This man not only was convicted of killing four people, but has needless to say planned the demise of countless others. How many children were solicited to become addicted to drugs because of theis man? His color or social standing has nothing to do with the decisions he made. He is evil, a multiple murderer and needs to pay the price for his deeds. Lethal injection is to merciful for the SON_OF_A_BITCH!!!!
Much like the bastard that takes off in a helecopter with you in the doorgun, and then bails out while your shooting at a target, or a squad mate that takes off in a BH and leaves you on the fricken deck, or the jerk that drives of and leaves you there, etc. etc. etc.
General George S. Patton made an interesting statement. "The lowest form of human being is the politician. The lowest form of politician is a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT."
Unfortunately, we live in a world that is populated with PEOPLE. As long as there are people, there will be one wanting to do harm to another, or take away what the other has. A gun in itself is no more dangerous than a hammer. Both can be a useful tool, or a mechanism to inflict serious bodily injury. The framers of the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights, placed the Second Amendment there for a reason. These men lived under the tyranny inflicted by the king of Great Britain, and vowed that situation would never happen here in the now United States. I strongly believe in the right to keep and bear arms. I also believe that those who choose not to own a firearm have every right not to. As a former marksmanship instructor and rifle team member in the USMC, I also believe in proper training and use of firearms. As some have pointed out, a civilian does not need to own a military style firearm, but the beauty of LIBERTY is, one should have the right to make the choice of said ownership. I resent the HELL out of some bleeding heart liberal puke telling me "YOU CAN"T" as some of our British friends would say, "SOD OFF" The firearm or the hammer is not the problem, the problem is the DIRTBAGS behind them.
