Picture this:

Playing on Wake as PLA, spot empty attack chopper just spawned - hot in, fly around for a bit then remember how much I prefer to be gunner.

Land. ask for a pilot - two guys run over, one hops in and just sits there before saying "Get out", after asking why he tells me that he is gunner too and he wants his mate to fly.

Unsuprisingly I tell him (politely) where to go - so he takes off

Before I can say thanks he flies into the sea!!!!!

Funily enough his little team monopolised the chopper for the rest of the game!

(check my stats I rarely use the chopper so its not like i'm a chopper wh*re!)

Kinda stupid, there was once though on wake where a teamate and i were goin for the attack chopper and it took forever to spawn back so we decided to goof off.  We threw some c4 down where it would be and ran, then some wisse ass came over and stood on it, we told him to move and he didnt so BOOM, punish for TK yada yada.  We got the chopper and this guy tried to shoot us down. "My Chopper coem back you filthy TKers."  We blew him to pieces and he decided to vote kick me, luckily vote kicks NEVER work.

yeah, I don't see what the big deal is.  You can kick a ton of ass on foot if you're good.  IMO, that's way more fun then fighting over a stupid helicopter.

I feel your pain.

I was on a 64 Songhua stalemate and spawned at the fish factory. I grabbed the Blackhawk that was there and took off. There was nobody else on my side at the factory so I flew down to the west Perimeter and saw a Private first class just standing there.

"hop in"

"thanks I owe you one"

Off to a flag, he guns a couple of enemys, I hover down and get him to bail. Capture flag and have him get back in. Repeat process several times over and the points are starting to roll.

Get to the central front and neutralize the flag, but get the snot kicked out of us in the process. He stays on the flag for the capture and I land on the pad to repair. Once the flag is ours he tries to jump into the helo and manages to end up rotor pie. {as we all have at some point}

Yep, you guessed it: You were punished for a teamkill.

He then respawns as I'm lifting back off. { I was holding for him until the punish}

"hey I need a ride"
"hey I need a ride"
"requesting pick up, over"
"hey I need a ride"

Yea, just wait there and I'll come back for you........... I promise.

hehehe....i had once that a nutheaded took the attack heli and just hovering above our spawn point ... we asked for a ride but he didnt responded....w00t! he was waiting for a friend....he got in after 5 min .... god dammit u piece of shit...5 min of wasting my time to get off the darn carrier...(i tried twice with a boat but i got shot down by an J-10) and there wasnt a spawnpoint to spawn at then the carrier....so his friend came in...jumped in the gunner seat...and just when they wanted to fly away....God finally heard me praying....and there it came down! the angel of death striked down to my teammates chopper...a big ass flash like the lighting of the Gods....BAM! the J-10 that striked me down twice in a boat...crashed into my teammates chopper...O God yesssss....so i,m going into position to take the chopper as he will be respawned...but whats that my teammates whos so pissed being striked down by the J-10 is posesed by the devil himself...he take out his C4 and blast us to hells fires...but i get 1 choice...1 choice to end it all his score is - 8. 1 more punish and then hes gone...for the moment...and so i pressed the mighty button PAGE DOWN and got his ass off  the server....well to make the story short i pressed Page down and Fucker's gone

Well, the way I see it, you have two options;

Option 1:  Be nice and people (even the azzholes) will recognize that you aren't a jackazz.

Option 2:  Be like just the azzholes and be thought of and treated that way.

I love the ones that do something stupid while I'm playing medic, like walk on my grenade that is sitting in plain view, then punish. I just stand over them while I watch their life drain away. Sometimes I give them a lecture about being a punish newb during that time.

Steal some of my points? Enjoy your +1 death.

Nice is something defined differenly by everyone.

If you see a claymore or a mine and drive over it, then it's your fualt, since you're too dumb to see it, so you should forgive the TK, if someone shot you down for no reason at all except for you taking "his" heli or tank, then don't be nice and ignore his every request for a ride, to be revived, for ammo and don't forgive him in the future except for obvious accidents.

Anyway, my opinion is too Punish for obvious kills or dumbass actions and forgive when it's partly your fault or if he's at least halfway smart enough to apologise, since sometimes in a gun-fight, the bullets hit your mates more than the enemy next to him, although you were aiming for the enemy.

to the original poster: when they monopolized the heli the rest of the game, did they do good?

ive said it before and ill say it again: those that arent excellent with the chopper should yield right of way to those that are, especially if its a team.

By not letting the team have the chopper, your splitting them up, insisting on being the gunner, and being a bit childish about it too.

Youll live without the chopper, and its better for your side as a whole to have a good chopper team (which, i belive, everybody will agree that the key to heli success is a good team with communication).

I will usually forgive a TK, unless it is blatant.  If you frag me for some bullshit reason you will be punished.  Other than that, shit happens out there, and I'm savvy enough to realize that most team kills in a fire fight are unintentional.   I lost a lot of points because some idiot walks into my line of fire and then wants to punish me for a team kill.

On mashtuur city and shardi (sharki?) peninsula I have witnessed EXTREME teamkilling for the blackhawk and cobra respectively. By extreme I mean that my whole team seemed to have gone apeshit. Full on fighting eachother, blasting eachother away, sending rockets after the chopper on the tv station, it was crazy.

On Mashtuur city, everybody wanted to be in the blackhawk. After spawning, EVERYBODY would sprint at the BH, pile in, and those that were too late simply started firing into the chopper before it could take off, in the hopes of killing someone and taking their place. Which didn't ever work because there were maybe 10-15 people standing around/on top of the blackhawk constantly pressing 'use' in the hopes they would get one of the spots that freed up as a consequence of the teamkilling. It was fucking crazy. All I could do was stand there, shake my head, and think "what....the...hell..."

Those are definately the only instances where I would teamswitch in mid-battle.

No, on Sharqi it was the cobra, massive TK-ing on top of the TV station. The one about the blackhawk was in Mashtuur City. All this was on ranked servers too. That just takes the biscuit.

Thanks tho!

Yeah, but they could've been nice, and either one of them just gun for the guy, or they could have just let him have it until he crashed, and THEN claimed the chopper....they didn't have to try to get him killed since he already had the chopper. No one seems to know what game etiquette is...if someone's using the vehicle you want, then DO SOMETHING ELSE until they either crash/blow up/leave. I hate how the pads are chocked full of people fighting for vehicles when they could be benefiting their team by doing something else, instead of wasting tickets. When I fly jets anymore I always strafe the airfields because I know there's people there fighting for jets/choppers. It's two-fold...keeps the enemy assets grounded, and easy points for me

Just the mental image, of 32 newbs, all scrambling toward the blackhawk, crawling all over and in it, shooting each other, maybe a couple snipers trying to take the pilot out through the glass, as it pathetically and futilely tries to lift off into the air under the weight of a hundred newbies, that just ends all.

i participated in the funniest thing ever today on mashtuur. the server switched my team after 5 great rounds on the US and i decided to ride along with 2 members of the [F4U] clan in the Mi-17 and the entire round we just flew over the US helipad dropping C4 on all the people waiting for the blackhawk, i ended up with like 40 C4 kills in one round.

now for the part pertaining to the thread.

for 2 rounds i was nice and let one of the clan members fly while i dropped C4, but one time neither of them spawned near the heli, so i decided to fly while another teammate gunned. after waiting for a minute i take off and immediately the clan members begin cursing me in a German/English mix. after calling me every name in the book, they start to initiate kick votes against me for stealing "their" chopper (wasn't even their server mind you). then they begin to tk me. after dieing 4 times by my teammates hands, i sign off and find another server.

moral of the story: never be nice by letting someone fly for 2 rounds straight... oh, almost forgot, fuck the [F4U] clan.

The F4U clan sound like some really upstanding individuals. Hey, maybe we should introduce them to the FMG clan?

lol stories....  this is one of the reasons i am happy that i have so much fun playing infantry...

hmmm think i have an idea on how to make money in bf2.... rent your services out to people as security against people that tk them for the plane.

what you do is you spawn as a spec ops, walk up to the plane, put on a c4 pack... then go sit in a nearby bunker. If your client get's TK for the plane, you just flip the switch...
