To answer post #1, you should look for some BG mods. I know there the megamod (or ultramod.. something like that) which combines BG1 and 2 (with expansion(s)) into one big game. So you can play through BG1 and then keep your char for BG2. I think that might be what youre looking for.

I always thought it was because of flying around the map. You see, even after caching the map i always get hard drive 'grinding' when i go through unexplored territory. Its definitely something that affects me when flying a heli, but i get that in the gunner seat too due to the nature of the problem.
Sounds like a bug to me.

From a certain point on, you can expect a player to know how to play bf2. Generals arent generally (no pun intended) better than sgt. majors: either they have learned to play the game by 50k points, or they just suck.

"Concerned, the half-life and death of Gordon Frohman"
'Concerned' is a Half-Life comic made with Garry's Mod (sandbox mod for Half-Life 2). Gordon Frohman, the protagonist, is a retarded civilian that arrives in City 17 some time before Gordon does. He is stupid, naive, but also ambitious, which paves the path for his adventure.
The story is a mix of the actual HL2 story, and a prequel. Frohman's adventure 'explains' why some things are what they are when Gordon Freeman passes the same locations Frohman went through in his adventure (e.g. why Ravenholm became a zombie-infested nightmare). Frohmans adventure is divided in chapters, which are all goofs of the real chapters played in HL2.
It's a fantasticly written comic, some of the jokes really leave you grasping for air. But you will only be able to enjoy it if you are very familiar with HL2. Many of the jokes involve some knowledge of the HL2 story, but also known bugs and myths. If you're a fan of the HL series, you will love the comic though. Even if you've already seen it (it was written in 2005-2006), it's worth revisiting imo.

Yes i do believe BF2 is worth it in the end, its great fun to play. Im sort of grateful EA brought out patches, though it wouldve been outrageous if they didnt, so im not too grateful. I just cant stand their greedy and inefficient way of getting things done. It makes me feel used.
I mean, i could count the items on their changelogs for their patches on my two hands, but the patches are all in excess of 100MB. Was their program ming that shitty that they had to recode all that? It makes me pissed.
Does Blizzard make perfect games then? No, of course not. But i can guarantee you EA wont bring out a patch for a 10-year-old game of theirs, like Blizzard did for Diablo2. Why, i would even bet EA will never even need to, their games wont last 10 years.
And at least Blizzard is fixing their game with their patches, while EA's patches often create new bugs.

You bet its good for EA, but how do YOU feel about it? How do YOU like buying games you know are going to be buggy, and then get shit customer service in return? Two years after they released BF2 there are still issues that could have been solved by listening to their customers. Heck, the patches they did bring out were enormous, like they dont give a shit.pirana6 wrote:
Your 100% correct but look at this from their level, if they can make that much more money buy putting the game out a little sooner then why not? As long as they fix it later (for the most part) they can do it no problem. Look how much bigger EA is than Blizzard (of course this isn't from this reason alone but I'm sure it helps).iPoon.be wrote:
There are still arguments against EA. Of course managing an online game with a huge community and attention from hackers is tough, but all the more reason to make sure you deliver quality games.
EA is always pushing its developers to bring something out sooner than later, in order to make more and faster money. "A few leftover bugs? Well, it may cost us a bit of the game's presentation, but we'll make more money sooner, and we can patch that up later anyway!"
The result is that their games are usually buggy, and run pretty bad for no reason. This is largely in contrast to companies such as Valve (HL2 had the best graphics of its time, but also ran smoothly on every system) and Blizzard (actually canceled an entire game (Starcraft: Ghost) because it didnt meet their quality requirements.
EA does bring out good games, but they havent quite learned that their focus should be on gamers, not the gamers money.
What im trying to say: EA may be bigger than Blizzard, but name me 5 LEGENDARY EA games. I cant even think of ONE. Not even BF2. Now name me 5 legendary Blizzard games. Wait, name me one NON-legendary Blizzard game. Theyre all classics.
BF2 is loads of fun, but you have to swallow alot of shit that goes with it. I happened to get hooked up on it, something that wont probably happen again with an EA game, so i keep on playing it. I just wish another publisher would have brought out BF2, a publisher that took its customers more seriously.

Like EA/DICE fucked BF2 with 1.2 patch!
Well Blizzard fucked Diablo2 way harder than BF2 could have ever been fucked with one patch, Blizz made the D2 Barbarian Character totally useles later in the game when EA/DICEs patches have only made the game more balanced.
Barbarians are mostly 'screamers' now, they still have uses.

I dont know about you guys, but ive played through Fallout 1 and 2. Imo they do deserve their reputation of being the best RPG's ever, and im really looking forward to number 3. Especially since theyre going to combine my two favorite genres: FPS and RPG.
If you havent heard of Fallout yet () then you might be interested to know Bethesda, the company that brought us Oblivion, will be making Fallout 3. Fallout 1 & 2 were made by Interplay, but they went bankrupt while Fallout 3 was in development. Bethesda bought the rights to the Fallout franchise in 2004 started Fallout 3 from scratch. They did however promise to keep the game true to the Fallout world, rather than make it an Oblivion mod.
Fallout is a game full of drugs, sex, racism, violence and mutants. Its definitely NOT suitable for kids, but that shouldnt be a problem for bf2s members. It was also characterized by a dark humor which im sure most of you will love.
The teaser vid has been up on the official homepage, not that it really reveals much. If youre interested in some real teaser info, Game Informer has recently written a preview on Fallout 3, which you can view here.
Its a long article, so if you dont have time to read it ill sum up the important parts:
[list][*]Character creation will be similar to Oblivion, very customizable appearance, though you are limited to being human (aww ).
[*]The combat system will be a hybrid of turn based and real time. You can basically choose either, and even combine them during battle to suit your needs. The new system will still use 'action points' that are spent during rounds, but this time they regenerate during fights. They regenerate faster (or slower) depending on how you fight (turn based, or real time). You will still be able to make aimed shots, and judging from the screenshots there will a lot of gore.
[*]New weapons will be added, one of them a portable nuclear missile launcher ("Fatboy")
[*]Fallout 3 will still give you the option of forming a party, but there wont be any extra encouragements to do so. Playing solo will work just as well. They also reluctantly hinted there will be a dog in the game (to join your party numbnuts), like the previous Fallouts.
[*]Bethesda promises to keep Fallout 3 as 'Fallout' as possible. Your actions will have consequences in the game world, the Wasteland will still be retro-futuristic, with popular music from the 1930-1950's.
Im definitely looking forward to this game, though there will be a long wait before its released.
To be released in Q3 2008.

Songhua rocks. If it wasnt for my slow loading time and the lack of servers playing it, Id be hopping between servers like I dont know what.
Ive only played it for about 3hours, but those are some of the best 3hours Ive had in this game.
There is a 24/7 IMA IO Songhua but Ive never seen anyone in it, and its been around for about a month or so.
Songhua is one of those maps where i can just prone on the ground, and my ghillie suit actually works for a change. Lots of squad based play too, and well created atmosphere.
But the most popular maps are the ones where the flags are closest (Karkand...) , and/or lots of opportunity to rape (Wake island/Jala)
It easy to tell who can play and who cant when youre in the same server. If i see a private with a 2+ kd i assume its a second account, but until they prove themselves i usually regard them as noobs.ThomasMorgan wrote:

How, then, would you judge someone's second account?

What you say is true, but you refer to the old Euclidean geometry. Modern geometry is derived from it, and still known as Euclidean in honor of him inventing it.

Are you nuts? nothing works correctly in Euclidean geometry. Space geometry would've worked.
Let me rephrase after you explain what "space geometry" is, because ive only heard of algebraic, differential and Euclidean geometry. Unless you mean the space geometry i get when googling it, which is Euclidean geometry, where Pythagoras still applies.
