Its a waste of time, and you could do better for your self by getting the job you want now, and keeping it.

if you figure, 4 years in the marine corps or 4 years in the job field you want to be in.  The 4 years in marines dont mean shit.  The 4 years in job expireance does.

In real world corporate america, no one cares about how many push ups one can do, along with if you can march with 70 pounds of shit for 10 miles.  The care about work history.  Now, if you are planning on commissioning as an officer thats a different story.  But enlisting is stupid if you have a job lined up in the career field you want to be in.

4 years expierance will pay much more than any branch could give.

Besides, you dont want to be a tided up for 8 years.... BTW that how long it real is. 4 year active and 4 inactive which could be called up at anytime.  So factor in 8 years expireance.

8 years will land you a management job in any company if you know whats going on.  After 8 years in military your back at sq 1 trying to land a job.

keep in mind, hardware is at lest 2 years ahead of software.  So its not like you need the best right now.  AMD will come threw when its time.  The spider setup will kick intels assin best band for buck

What im trying to do,

run both 5.1 sound speakers & a USB mono headset with MIC.

Issues so far, I can hear music threw speakers, and I can head AIM sounds in head set.

Then all of a sudden the sound from speakers stops working and switches to head set.

I have tried forcing either 5.1 audio and Headset in the audio and devices properties with no luck any ideas

I must say, I just drove from Portland OR, to Orlando FL.  Passing threw alot of states and cities.  I must say LA Cali is the worse by far, followed by the entire state of Arizona

sure it maybe a 200% more in cost, but he will see atlest a 200% gain in performance just from the dual core and 2GB of ram is worth it, plus he can upgrade video later to pcie and keep ram and cpu just spend a little more for a mobo, which are cheap!

im running 2 x 7950 which kicks ass still, sure its not dx10 but I did spend 500 on one and 250 on the other a year later so im not looking forward to buying another video card anytime soon.  I feel if I was to buy a 8800 I would see a lose in score do to the fact im down grading from 2 cards to 1, SLI kicks ass.   

BTW My vista score is 5.9 on everything but processor, which is 5.3 so I will be upgrading that first.

But, your friend doesnt have a 7950 yet, and its like 200 bucks,  I would never spend that much on old technology so I would either go with the 3850 or a slim down 8800.  Like someone said above you dont need to run dx10 just because you have a card that supports it.  XP still boots with no problems.

defrag, if this doesnt help, you may need to do a full format and reinstall vista.  If problem still there then you may need to rebuild the raid setup with new hard drives and or drivers.

i dont really like belkins.  I have seen wireless cards and router that started to die give off alot of garbage which in turn hosed up the network bandwidth.

try plugging in with a cable with both computers for a day and see if theres a noticable difference.  If there is, then you could have a hardware component going out if none of my instructions work for you.  Like wireless cards and or router.

If this is a Linksys wireless router, you can do a few things to help.

1st change your key (wep/wpa)  you should use at lest WPA

2nd release/renew routers IP with ISP

3rd assign static ip to your computer and router, (use a different one) a 10.x.x.x & 192.x.x.x is a valid range for internal LAN use. the default router is 192.168.1.1 change to like 192.168.1.125 or something with in 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254

4th block IMCP requests (this stops the ping of death)

5th clear logs (disable logging)

6th open up dos (cmd in run) type the command netstat -b  this will show you every open connection on your computer and what it is and where its going

7th run virus & windows updates and scan whole computer

8th delete all viruses, defrag hard drive

9th restart computer.

If you need help changing ip address or anything let me know i can walk you threw it

if none of this helps then you could always disable the dhcp on your router, and assign each device on your network a static ip

change the mac address on router and nic

doing all of this will stop your problem

btw is 10.252.4.1 your IP address on the router or computer?

I understand that my ISP is only 12MBPS,  I'm talking about WAN setup.  I have alot of traffic moving Gigs of info at times which lags the door out "router/modem"  When I mean Elite I mean give me every idea you got, assuming price means nothing. Example OC fiber or such.

Something for extreme home/office setup.  I know Im limited by ISP but I have ran Download test and peaked at 22MBPS and only 1.3MBPS up.

problem, my modem to my router is only 100 and I cant find a modem that supports a "gig" 1000Mbps to coax

I can only find 10/100 speeds, does anyone have a work around? or know a true modem that supports of 1000Mbps

for home use go with Linksys WRT54G model or something close.  I have had zero problems with them, and I have used alot!!!

If changing routers doesn't help you  then your modem is the problem

when you said your computer lost connection for like a week what did you do.....

did you check your IP address?
did you make sure your IP was from your DHCP? and not a 169.x.x.x address
did you try and ping any web sites?
did you try and ipconfig /release and renew your IP?
did you try and ipconfig /flushdns cashe?
did you try a new cable?
did you try a static IP & DNS?
did you try and isolate the problem instead of pointing your finger at the router?

you may want to run some trouble shooting steps first before you jump into a new router so soon.

Make sure you wait before getting a 802.11N router...this is still not an official protocol yet btw...plus its to much money for little pick up in bandwidth Super G work almost as good.

ok so I have installed open SUSU KDE 10.3  and its currently a ongoing battle with unix and my ignorance.

What I would like to accomplish:
A work group server of 9 computers (6 XP, 2 Vista, 1 Server 2003) number 10 is this current linux machine.

My server 2003 is just the 120day trail version, so I need a server OS thats going to last for free...hints why I'm going linux

I want to host a web site

I want to remote into my network via  VNC or RDP

I want to have a centralized administration of data storage and network monitoring/security

I would like to setup a ftp


Please list away any OS that could help me do this, I will do some more reading on this topic else where but I had to turn to BF2s first

btw should i use YaST to try and install the drivers?

OK, 1st off let me start with I am new to Linux...

2nd, I am still trying to learn/remember the UNIX command line

3rd, I am trying to setup samba for file sharing and to host a website.

4th, I am trying to install video drivers for my 2 x 7950 GT in sli

5th, I haven't installed a program before in linux

please give some advice for the video drivers??? Nvidia has them for the 64 bit which im running, but trying to install them placed me into a CLI which I couldnt get out of so im reinstalling.

the command KDE should put me back in the GUI right??
