yes, he does.

No real budget, I want a good, wireless router. If the router has PCI/USB cards that "go with it" (ie - same model name), it would be good.

I would prefer if you choose from this list: http://www.komplett.no/k/kl.aspx?mfr=&a … ortOrder=d

But you can find routers elsewhere as well.

I know this is my 3rd thread about internet stuff, but I have found the problems:

1) Vista is being a fagg (will hopefully be fixed with SP1 in Jan)
2) Router Dies often.
3) Network card is not "made for Vista"

Thanks in advance

I'd go with NETGEAR. Never had any problems with them. Excellent range, reliable and they look nice.

Mine has been running for at least 6 months with 4 PC's connected and it hasn't malfunctioned once.

Also, the PC that is Connected with WIRE to the Router suddenly couldn't connect to the internet. Even when all the others can (wirelessly), it can't. It's been like this for almost a week now.

Oh and that wireless issue with Vista still hasn't been fixed in SP1 as I tried the RC1. Its disappointing.

Do all you machines use dhcp? Sometime if you have static ips set the dns servers won't refresh if they change.

Also, what do you have now?

Get the Xtreme-N from D-Link. I have it. It's SEX. Rarely disconnects, fast connection...pure sex, like I said.

Jenspm,

last night I just ordered this one:

http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=332691 (Hardware test)

From what I know its very good and you also get a USB that works for that router (new and better system. 802.11n(Norwegian link!) and not 802.11g)

I will have it on monday or so

What kind of router do you have.  What kind of network card do you have? Are there updated firmware/drivers?

I use this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6833124010

which connects to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6833150014

Jenspm, let me know if the new router solves your problems as I'm having the same problems.

I have The netgear WPN824 router and I have never had any disconnections with the wireless on it. Had it just over than a year at the moment and everything is fine. I would highly recommend it.

The network card I use works fine with vista and is the WG311 pci card.

Well, you don't need 11n to use it, but if you want to use the router full out you need a 11n usb or something like that

Using a Netgear DG834N here, took 2 mins to set up and droped my pings by about 20ms, never failed me once since I've got it, had to have BT engineer out a couple of weeks back 'cos of a line fault, he sat down to check my BB was working ok afterwards and was stunned it manages to connect at 8128kbps (basically 100% of what's possible on an 8meg line, they say average is ~70%), said they don't get speeds like that sat next to the telephone exchange lol, oh my old Speedtouch 330 connected at 7600kbps BTW, same line, same ISP.

Oh it supports all wireless standards BTW (works well with Wii's too).
