Ok so im looking to buy a new monitor in the new year, and im not looking to spend to much, absoulute max $600 (AUD)
and i was looking at a 24" in from samsung off Amazon, but than i was infromed thats a bad idea because of the power connectors and it will probly get damadged etc.

Im looking at Sizes between 20" and 24" i know thats only three options but i dont want any bigger.
i dont want any brands that no one has heard of before, Like, .... monitorlizards or superfunhappymonitors (not real brands)
so if you could please give me a recommendation on what you think i should get that would be very much appriciated (spelling >_<)

because i am really sick of my 13.5" CRT

Thanks

13.5 what the hell?

Well damn. You are certainly in the market. For a 20" widescreen I've seen lots of good in the Samsung SyncMaster 206BW. 350 AUD at most so you may look for a higher end monitor.

I have the Samsung Syncmaster 206BW, its 20" and very sharp. It looks good and is fast, not too small either. The 1650x1080 resolution is good also. But you might aswell take a look at the newer Samsung widescreens (the pebbles, or how are they called?) they are nicer designed (in my opinion.)

yeah i have heard a bit about those 20inches, that is a good price too, i might look more into that, maybe i could go up the price a bit to a 22" and still stay cheap, then save some money ro buy more ram

Samsung 206BW or 226BW are excellent monitors. Should be well within your price range, but I don't know USD -> AUD.

[Edit:] I have the 206BW 20"

What he says. You won't regret it you open the box and go like "WOW". I did wow when I went from 17" LCD to 20" Widescreen Samsung, imagine your reaction going from 13.4"

haha yes, that is good, i think i might go for the 22 inch, my mum has a 17 inch on her computer and so does my aunt (which i am on now, me being on holidays) so its allright now but yeah theres going to be a huge difference

I have found this other monitor its:
BenQ G2400W 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor
http://www.itsdirect.com.au/com_product … CD_Monitor
Im guessing its not as good, because it has a lower response time.

I have this one, its a 22" and only $239.99 - $30.00 mail in rebate = $209-99 + $14.14 for 3 day shipping

I bought this over a year ago when it was 290+shipping

Had one dead pix  (which is good, must have over 7 dead for a RMA) can't even see it only when screen is all black

I upgraded from a 19" CRT wish I would of did it sooner, also notice a cheaper power bill to

If you have 600 I would buy 2 of these bad boys!  + 2GB DDR2 800 only 46 bucks!!!

Both good monitors and both well below your $600 price range.
206BW - $319
226BW - $399

ATM I have the Samsung 19" 940B, and its great, and am very strongly considering upgrading to the 226BW when I get my new comp soon.

I wouldn't say that, find the right place and prices are only about 20% higher then those in the US, and when the exchange rate contributes about 15%, its hardly 'really expensive'.

I have the 22 inch widescreen Samsung Pebble and can really vouch for it.

You'll notice a huge difference going from 13.5"->22".... but just make sure your computer has the hardware to cope with it! If your monitor is that outdated, I would hope that your processor/RAM/graphics card aren't, because they will struggle a lot with the leap in resolution .

Just bought that exact monitor yesterday. It's great, smooth looking, easy to setup, and a great price. I recommend it if you can find it where you live.
