No team loses every game. It just doesn't happen.
We have one major final series/game and one championship in each sport...you guys have what, 10 different Cups to win for soccer? And if you win in the 1st divisiion you get to play for the right to be a shitty last place team in the Premiership, and if you lose in the Premiership you become a fantastic team in a shit league? Wow, what incentive
You guys don't have a World Series - we do. And a North American team wins every year.
/argument.
The inter divisions competition make a massive difference to a clubs finances, supporter and player moral and a club reputation. If you're a premier league team and unless you're Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea the number 1 priority to to stay within that league. Period. Being relegated is a massive blow to a club....Christ you should see all the tears shed on the last day of the season. The inter division is not limited to Prem and Div1 it also is invoked for Div 1 and Div 2, Div 2 and Div 3 and Div 3 and Div 4. There is lots of movement regarding how well teams have performed. Isn't that what sport is about, how well you've performed?
If you're good enough to be promoted to the premier league then why shouldn't you have the chance to prove it? The competition the promotion and relegation system instills is crucial in imo ensure that complacency doesn't set in. I find it it a bit of a joke that you're guaranteed top level competitive play irrespective how well you've performed. Imo a club status in whatever league it particulates is to be defended, f you're good enough to play in a better league you get the chance to prove yourself, if you're shit then down you go and if you're at the highest level then you must defend your status.
And we do have a world series which brits always win (bah apart from 1 canook) Snooker:
