The article already said Russia opposed it, i wonder if that was in response to the current war going on in Georgia.Beduin wrote:

Isn't Russia about due to be invaded by Spain or Germany or something?
Europe just doesn't have the balls it use too.

Someone call the U.S. government and tell them the Cold War has been over for years.
Let's see, a former communist occupied nation thinks it might be a good idea to upgrade their air force's training and equipment...immediately after Russia invades a different former-USSR state. Makes sense to me.
It also lets the US do something to get back at Russia without risking a military confrontation.
It's smart politics for the West, IMO.

Someone probably should call Putin and tell him.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Smart politics for Europe maybe, but the U.S. is not Europe's bitch. We still have it in our heads that we are the first and last word in the fight for democracy, and that is just not true. The world is not so firmly divided into first second and third worlds anymore, there is so much middle ground now that any country trying to help another is going to be backstabbed by someone else for their efforts. If shit every does go down with Russia it needs to be known that the U.S. is not inextricably tied to Europe, and that we are not going to bend over backwards for every scrap of democracy in every shit-hole across the world. Bottom line, the U.S. does not need to "get back at Russia" every time they flex.RAIMIUS wrote:

Besides, why can't the U.S. use this missile defense system? Last time I checked Russia had an ICBM or two.
I'm sure we'll manage.Lotta_Drool wrote:

68 years without a war (a pretty fucking gigantic one at that the last one) and we're already being written off as not having balls lulz, -with a history of about ~3000 years of warfare.Lotta_Drool wrote:

hasn't been a century without wars yet, we just calmed down for the moment and I don't think we should interfere the way you want us to.

With 16,000 nukes, they could redraw Europe or the US if they wanted.BALTINS wrote:

We'd redraw Russia simultaneously.MGS3_GrayFox wrote:

In every different scenario, China wins.
And we'd redraw China. And Brazil or some shit can be #1.MGS3_GrayFox wrote:

China would only win if we were busy fighting Russia. China wouldn't have to redraw us because they'd just sit back and industrialize. It would take them a while to get their forces across the Pacific though.MGS3_GrayFox wrote:

Yeah, Brazil would actually be another big winner, but China owns a lot of their shit.jord wrote:

England draws with liquid paper, so I doubt you'll do a lot of redrawing.jord wrote:

China on the other hands draws with people themselves (seen in the Olympic opening ceremony), and they have people to spare.
I'm sure we'll be doing a lot more redrawing than Puerto Rico anyway.MGS3_GrayFox wrote:

We're a colony of the US, so we will be busy redrawing Russia while China redraws us.jord wrote:

And seeing how PR is not a republic, and is actually part of the US, you just said that GB is capable of doing more drawing than the US itself. You, my friend; even for me a socialist, are a dreamer.
Well, I'd rather China be the last remaining superpower than Russia. At least China is more productive. Russia just mostly seems good at corruption and oppression... oh, and spreading viruses across the internet too.MGS3_GrayFox wrote:
