i'll put mine up maybe tomorrow.  it's a 2008 Mongoose Otero Super.  i'd like a better bike, but hey, what else can you do with $700 or so?

Dirt is pretty soft, and those little shitty half-shell helmets wouldn't make any difference anyway.

Full face is too cumbersome for BMX.

It was my cousins before me, He bought it new for $1400, I got it for $650. New fork, wheels, tires, deraullers, brakes, back shock, probably an extra $500.

You can do lots with $700. Get a frame and build from scratch. You can save a bundle.

I'm either going to get a PRICE or a KONA, I want to do downhill biking, that would be fun.

Now I just need the 995.- for the cheapest PRICE bike...

Anywho they're both hard tails and mostly use Shimano components.

yeah, well, let's just say i didn't know how to do it then.  that was a year ago and i feel that if i were to buy just the parts now that i could do it.  i didn't even know what a fork was then.

too bad that money's spent already.   it's not a bad bike for the price though.

Wow, this thread is pretty nostalgic. I haven't MTB'd in years but I used to ride an Orange Patriot. Do they still even make those? Was a solid downhill cycle.

Edit: Google tells me they do. Oh shiiiiit. I had the sexy Union-Jack themed one, must have been about 5-6 years ago now. Shame I stopped riding, so much fun!
