HOW about they go back and redo 1942. That was the game that started the series, and even yet is still played by many skilled guys. No whining bitches like bf2. So why not do to BF1942 what Valve did with CS, redo it in a different engine.

Only problem with WW1 is that it's incredibly boring and very costly warfare, a BF WW1 would be set in 1916 (The year of more of the major battles, the Somme etc)
So

Bf1916

Sit in your trench
Continue sitting in your trench
Make friends with your local french rat
Get trench foot
Sleep
Die in a cloud of chlorine gas
Respawn
Repel a few enemies with your 15 rounds a minute Mk III or possibly your constantly jamming Lewis Gun
Sleep
Eat moldy bread and luke warm stew
Crap in a hole
Get ordered to charge
Get caught on barbed wire
Free yourself from barbed wire
Get peppered by fire from german gewehr's
Die
Respawn
etc etc

I know it wouldn't work like that, but trench warfare was dull, very few tanks (the ones they had where awful to use) Biplanes where not common and did crash often, infantry fighting was near pointless, and as Rowan Atkinson puts it "If you mean, "Are we all going to get killed?" Yes. Clearly, Field Marshal Haig is about to make yet another gargantuan effort to move his drinks cabinet six inches closer to Berlin."

Yeah. Battlefield 1916 wouldn't work. Battlefield Korea sounds interesting, as said before, and maybe a BF: 1942 redo

Either that, or have one vastly updated engine, and have a few maps from each previous game.
BF 1942's Wake, plus a few others
Some from BF:V
Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula, and maybe some others from BF2 (obviously, I've only played BF2)
Some from BF 2142
It would take some doing, but it might just work.

I don't think it will go back in time because the game would go to slowly. Just imagine getting one shot with any weapon and then having to take 10 seconds to load the thing back up. Nobody would play something like that.

What about American War of Independence? You could have Americans, Brits and those pesky French (for some battles north of the border). You rifles could have bayonet, horsemen could have sabres (not the Korean war flying ones either :-) ), medics would use poultices, native Americans could be the scout class (sniper) etc.

World War One would be cool. default kits are all bolt action rifles while unlocks can be newer guns that were made popular in WW2 (Thompson and the BAR to name a couple)

Battlefield Secret Wars

Plenty of clandestine warfare, maybe some maps you have to wear disguises and infiltrate a mansion..

I've always wanted to see civilians, traffic, and more living buildings (interactive) in the bf2 series.

Assasination maps where the objective is to snipe the commander or blow his fortress up or whatever.

IDK, Special Forces gave me the special forces feel, but more surgical type operations would be cool.

He was talking about the rifles, the .303 Enfiled and the MkIII both fire around 15 shots a minute, so it's going to be 4 seconds to reload, but his point stands

As for ancient muskets, well they took forever to reload hence why the redcoats used a double rank firing formation.

I think the Korea idea and the remake of 1942 are both great ideas. I would play a 1942 remake, even if it was only a mod for BF2 or 2142.

Some more Berlin and Russia would be nice (I think the map was called Kiev or something along those lines. I loved it. The Russians spawned by an airfield and they had that cool machinegun)
