Once you play with him you will quickly find this out. And BTW rd what does it matter if he likes jets? he is just as good at flying and or gunning in helis and he is probabally better at ground combat.

IMHO, to be a good player you need to have mastered all the maps, kits, weapons, vehicles and be a team player.
I'd have to say it's more down to an intangible than any one thing you can point to. But a higher-than-average accuracy, good use of a range of kits (general versatility) and high SPM and K/D ratio sure point to someone you'd prefer to have on your team than against you. Awards and rank in themselves don't mean dick... forget lieutenant and captain, I've played with countless guys ranked colonel and above that weren't even as good as I am (on the day at least) so that tends to suggest they're average or lower. I even played on a server with a couple of generals lately that didn't stand out from the crowd.
Often overlooked, brains help too; one of the reasons I'm halfway decent as a sniper is that I'm not as thick as many of the other players who use the kit (most of whom are better shots than I am in one way or another). So intelligence and problem-solving make for a better player and may in fact be as important as reflexes or other more direct skills.
Much as I have to admire skill piloting aircraft and helos (less so for the helo gunner and those in armour but still) I have to give most props to people who are good at infantry.
It seems almost redundant to mention teamplay but of course that's important. On the other hand I've seen guys so good they lonewolf their ass off (could be in a squad but not so's you'd notice) and virtually win the game themselves by dint of being so damned good at killing.

I've played with Bushviper and let me tell you...he is extremely good at everything. It doesn't matter what map, what vehicle, or what gun he plays with...he rules it. He plays every map until he knows absolutely everything about it, and then plays all maps and just completely dominates.
Bushviper = Best player. Period.
I think it's gotta be Bushviper. I've only played with him once or twice, but just look at his stats. He has a sea of golds, a win-loss of nearly 5 and an infantry K/D of about 2.5, which means a lot of squad play on his part and teamwork probably went into those last two things. Plus, he's great across the board, even his transport K/D is 4.8 and his defibrilator K/D is .78! He revives over 8 people for every time he dies with the shock paddles out. Is anyone going to call him a jeep or a defibrilator whore? He's as good across the board as anyone I've ever seen and probably as anyone can ever be in BF2.

I think maybe what makes a player good is his ability to be quick on his feet and get high points real fast. Theres people who have a low overall time but still have a great global score. Someone who can pick up a kit and go own anybody on any map, terrain, armor, or infrantry. Someone who can think in any situation on how to get passed a Tank without being seen.
