Right now it's all up to date but I remember only a few months ago there being a bunch of unresolved introduction threads that the mods never bothered to finalize. At least 10 or 15 users left in limbo because mods were lazy.tuckergustav wrote:
Just going to say, kampframmer figured it out and he is an active and contributing member of this forum,. Seems to work just fine.

It slows down the amount of new people who make it to the board. At least half of all people who will make an account will instantly quit if they see they have to go through some silly ass highschoolish "tell us about you" crap.
If someone has a question about something and quickly wants to get it answered or sees something in DST they are passionate about or found something funny in EE that they want to comment on the sometimes long mod approval process will completely shut down the passion that new members get from the forums.
I criticized the community for being insular and unwelcoming and it's not a 100% the members fault. The current new member process really exacerbates the problem.

I didn't know that was the case. Sounds like some bullshit. I'd move on to somewhere else too.Dauntless wrote:

it is. create a second account sometime, and look at the "Welcoming" forum some time. to be fair, it catches some spammers.west-phoenix-az wrote:

What i will say about the moderation here, is it's totally subjective. flaming_maniac once banned me for posting " l o l ". even the best moderators have no problem giving the benefit of the doubt, where the worst of them only punish the last post and not the root of the problem. eh, OrangeHound? doesn't disciplining the last post in a thread speak more to being subjective lazy than reading back a few posts to see who the root of the problem really is?
i guess it's all like SEC football - if a Volunteer adminmoderator only sees the retaliation and not the original foul, well, the SEC is always right.

A lot of new members are window lickers but you do get some cool guys coming through like Gravydan. I just don't know if dealing with pace esque new members is worth it.

The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
+1
you guys should all feel really fucking bad and terrible for causing the death of this forum... bf2 and pc gaming was going so strong, but it's 4chan morons and reddit reposters that have to ruin the fun for everyone by scaring away the massive tidal-wave of new players that just want to come here and openly discuss their passion and enthusiasm for that uniting raison d'etre, bf2. just think where you'd be today without bf2 (and bf2s)... and then think long and hard about how you have repaid that debt to internet society!!!!
for shame
