i just don't think the popular perception of apple as a brand of liars and thieves is true. their marketing is 'edgy' and 'cool' but what isn't nowadays? very rarely have i seen an apple product being sold as something that it is not.
Someone hasn't watched apple comercials
someone has clearly watched them filled with bitter spite and geek-rage.

they're good adverts. they serve the purpose of adverts, clearly, to the highest degree: they even implant themselves into the memories of those completely opposed to the products they are selling. good job, steve jobs!

and microwave, seeing as the only real evidence of the new iphone thus far is advertising and hype-material - what do you expect? it's not as if any number of members have one in their hands to talk about with any concrete fact or objectivity. so far it has been an announcement and a rapidly-deployed advertising campaign... dumb to complain about it, tbh.

I don't think I've seen an apple commercial that hadn't focused on throwing negatives on their competitors rather than promoting their own product...

The current iPad advert on TV at the moment doesn't even mention any other products. There have been others like this too, ones for the iPhone spring to mind. So I guess you haven't seen all that many Apple adverts.

This sure is turning into a for/against Apple debate isn't it ...

Well do keep in mind we are at completely different continents, so the only adds I get to see for Apple are those hotlinked to me over the web...

you talk in two posts about 'watching' adverts that denounce competitors, then all of a sudden you've only seen hotlinked-internet shit?

you're full of bullshit. and yeah no shit you can get a skewed view of a brand if you visit all the wrong websites.

i could visit jew-9/11 conspiracy websites all the time and believe that shit, too.

To be honest I think my iPhone 3gs is far nicer that the 4 but I won't know until I hold one in a shop.

Also what did you expect if your only information/hotlinks were horrid and pissed all over everyone else, the bias of the person who sent you the hotlinks plays a massive part in the content

Hrm, I wonder what the price'll be like over here.

Have I understood it correctly - that the 3GS models will receive the software upgrade (iOS 4) as well? If so, I may well gypsy a 3GS when the prices (hopefully) fall..

Everything except the 1st generation iPhone and 1st generation iPod Touch will receive the update.  And the iPad has to wait till the Fall to get iOS 4

The 3GS and 3rd generation Touch will receive multi-tasking with iOS 4 and I think the 3G and 2nd gen Touch will get everything other than multi-tasking.

You shouldn't have to give them back the 3G.  Can't confirm though but that seems to be the word from CS.  I'm gonna get Sprint's EVO instead.  I waited to see what the iPhone 4G offered, and was disappointed.

im going to pass on this new iphone 4g. i got the 3gs over a year ago. i cant stand it when companies like apple indirectly tell me that what i have totally sucks.....

my iphone 3gs is awesome, good features, very little problems with it.. i wish i could say the same for gay t&t, but then again there is jailbreaking. the best smartphone out in the market has the crappiest provider as a carrier.... how sad.

You seriously haven't seen the I'm a PC and I'm a Mac adverts? That's exactly the sort of thing he's referring to.

Even in their training manuals they do this sort of thing.

"Modern Macs use many of the same components as inferior PCs"

What? It's a 4G phone, therefore you would think given how they've named previous ones the logical progression would be to 4G. I have no idea what the network it's going to be on runs, because frankly I'm not that sad.

And @liq; is that a joke? Given how Apple likes to sell their stuff - release a new product, sell shitloads of them, then release one with new, faster guts 6 months/a year later - that seems utterly illogical.
Unless it actually has a resolution of at least 720p calling it HD is just further faggotry on apples side

EDIT: Oh and I love how they managed to remove the only thing the Iphone had going for it, (the form factor)
It is capable of playing 720p content and recording videos in 720p. Having a 720p display that size would be silly. It is as HD as is sensible.

Meh - it's ok. I've got a GM copy running (needs new iTunes though, which is a bit buggy for my liking) and I am informed there are various GM copies of iOS4 floating around out there.

i have spent enough money with apple, including my 32gb iphone 3gs. bought the 3gs last year in the summer. now after a year later apple comes out with the iphone 4 with more bells and whistles, WITH THE SAME CRAPPY GAY T&T SERVICE.  like someone said to me on bf2s( poop dipped in gold is still poop.... not gold).

my iphone 3gs does what i paid for. yep there are limitations ( no flash, adobe, etc). the droid is a darn close contender along with the EVO.  but the new features of the iphone 4 does LITTLE TO JUSTIFY a wait in line with $300.00 in cash to get another paper weight. dont want to renew gay t and t 2 year contract either.  i had verizon for 4+ years and the amount of dropped calls in verizon within those 4 years is the equivalent to the number of dropped calls in one year of gay t and t.

Forgive me if I'm wrong. But why is there so much hype over a product which has simply updated itself to be on the same level as its competitors. As far as I can see, the iPhone has only just caught up with the rest of the market, and yet its being hailed as some great, exciting, new piece of technology.
