why are you people coming to this thread and criticizing the new iphone for not having anything "groundbreaking"?
so what if the steel exterior has been "done before" by another company?

i just don't think the popular perception of apple as a brand of liars and thieves is true. their marketing is 'edgy' and 'cool' but what isn't nowadays? very rarely have i seen an apple product being sold as something that it is not.

I don't think I've seen an apple commercial that hadn't focused on throwing negatives on their competitors rather than promoting their own product...Uzique wrote:

they're good adverts. they serve the purpose of adverts, clearly, to the highest degree: they even implant themselves into the memories of those completely opposed to the products they are selling. good job, steve jobs!
and microwave, seeing as the only real evidence of the new iphone thus far is advertising and hype-material - what do you expect? it's not as if any number of members have one in their hands to talk about with any concrete fact or objectivity. so far it has been an announcement and a rapidly-deployed advertising campaign... dumb to complain about it, tbh.
The current iPad advert on TV at the moment doesn't even mention any other products. There have been others like this too, ones for the iPhone spring to mind. So I guess you haven't seen all that many Apple adverts.FloppY_ wrote:

Well do keep in mind we are at completely different continents, so the only adds I get to see for Apple are those hotlinked to me over the web...liquidat0r wrote:

This sure is turning into a for/against Apple debate isn't it ...
Agreed. I always felt the first one was a bit meh looking, just a case to hold a screen and the guts. This thing looks fucking hot.Winston_Churchill wrote:
I really like the design, its much better than the original. Probably won't get one though since I really don't like iTunes and dont want to bother with pairing it with that.
Oh, and it'll be another 2 years before it reaches to this incredibly remote, third-world, northern location of... Canada
you talk in two posts about 'watching' adverts that denounce competitors, then all of a sudden you've only seen hotlinked-internet shit?FloppY_ wrote:

Everything except the 1st generation iPhone and 1st generation iPod Touch will receive the update. And the iPad has to wait till the Fall to get iOS 4Jenspm wrote:
Hrm, I wonder what the price'll be like over here.
Have I understood it correctly - that the 3GS models will receive the software upgrade (iOS 4) as well? If so, I may well gypsy a 3GS when the prices (hopefully) fall..

You shouldn't have to give them back the 3G. Can't confirm though but that seems to be the word from CS. I'm gonna get Sprint's EVO instead. I waited to see what the iPhone 4G offered, and was disappointed.HaiBai wrote:

It is capable of playing 720p content and recording videos in 720p. Having a 720p display that size would be silly. It is as HD as is sensible.FloppY_ wrote:
Unless it actually has a resolution of at least 720p calling it HD is just further faggotry on apples sideghettoperson wrote:
What? It's a 4G phone, therefore you would think given how they've named previous ones the logical progression would be to 4G. I have no idea what the network it's going to be on runs, because frankly I'm not that sad.nlsme1 wrote:
Because it runs on a 4g network? NO. However, AT&T's 3g network can be upgraded to run faster than Sprint's 4g network.
And @liq; is that a joke? Given how Apple likes to sell their stuff - release a new product, sell shitloads of them, then release one with new, faster guts 6 months/a year later - that seems utterly illogical.
EDIT: Oh and I love how they managed to remove the only thing the Iphone had going for it, (the form factor)
Meh - it's ok. I've got a GM copy running (needs new iTunes though, which is a bit buggy for my liking) and I am informed there are various GM copies of iOS4 floating around out there.JakAttaK wrote:
