I do have to agree that when I first heard about it I got really excited and wondered about all the new functionality that would be in the new client, and then.. there wasn't really any at all. In fact it even removed features (You can no longer choose download region).

Yes you can, it's in your internet speed settings or something somewhere around there. I saw it once when browsing through. EDIT: Ok nvm, it's not in Settings, but I've seen it somewhere. Next time you have a download going, try clicking around. I know I've seen the download region somewhere in this new interface.

Also, does anyone's in-game steam fail completely now? At first it was fine, but a few updates later and I can't even see have the text, just boxes will pop up, or the person-I'm-chatting-to's name won't show up.

The attractiveness of the color scheme is a subjective issue. Many users find the unobtrusiveness of its dirty olive green borders, slate background and white text preferable, particularly when they use its in-game interface.

Just wanted to say that those of you who have been staying out of the beta because of fear of losing games/losing friends/having to redownload games/other worries. There's been a solid week of fixes and from the looks of the changelists, all that stuff has been taken care of now so you can join the beta to see whats new.

I had to redownload MW2. It was one of the ones I didn't backup, because I figured I'd probably never uninstall it

Coincidently it's also one of the biggest games I have on steam .

Yeah. They fixed that nearly right away, in the 2nd update for the new UI but by then it was far too late for everyone that had it.

This is related. By scrolling to the bottom of the Steam Forums, you can select a drop down box and view SPUF with the new UI beta design.

Much like Steam itself I'm not sure which design I prefer. (Icons are still old and are in the pipeline)

Also a new feature (to XP anyway), is the ability to right click the tray icon and have a list of installed games to start up .
