Dont say if you dont know. They stated dosen of times that it was made intentionally.
is understandably an exception but the rifles look like children's toys compared to the rather massive looking hands.

Have you ever hold a real gun or a replica? Modern small arms are smaller than people commonly think.
The AK47 was actually bigger than I thought it was.

so, how was the original?  I've heard lots of praise and lots of complaints, but now that prices are down (and I'm bored as fuck) I'm considering getting it.

I think it has to do with weapon licenses, so that's why the weapons are named different and why the empty catridges come out the wrong side.

Get it. Now.

Just make sure you DL the patches - 1.0005 or later - otherwise you'll have your gaming experience raped by bugs.
Anyone here run across the old UBGL bug mid-gunfight? I did.

the first two games we're some of the best i've ever played. The atmosphere and tension they build is unrivalled.

Am i the only one that likes how the guns fire? It means you can't jus spray and pray. It forces you to shoot carefully, and at distance use single shots.

bitComposer Games secures worldwide rights to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
20 August 2009

bitComposer Games has secured the worldwide rights to the next first person shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, of the Ukrainian developer team GSC Game World.

With over 2 million copies sold, the new episode of the most internationally successful S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series seamlessly connects to the first part of the Shadow of Chernobyl.

The release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat for Windows PC is scheduled for autumn 2009. We were able to enlist NAMCO BANDAI Partners Germany as our sales partner, which will guarantee a consistent distribution of the title.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat takes PC gamers once again into the vicinity of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor that exploded in 1986. This so-called "Zone" is a highly contaminated area cordoned off by the military and now is combed through by the so-called s.t.a.l.k.e.r.s, modern fortune hunters, in search of unique artefacts. In the role of Agent Alexander Degtyarev, who is dressed up as s.t.a.l.k.e.r., the player has to investigate the mysterious disappearance of five military helicopters and thereby stand one's ground against the various s.t.a.l.k.e.r. groups.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat skilfully combines first person shooter action with role-playing elements and is set in a realistic post-atomic scenario. This impression is underscored by the finely detailed industrial ruins, reproduced here on the basis of aerial pictures and the developers' own photographs. Mutants, various s.t.a.l.k.e.r. groups and the mostly lethal anomalies in the environment encountered everywhere ensure a constant sense of menace.

The thrilling story is advanced by numerous quests the player undertakes in the most varied regions, among them a secret military base, the city of Prypiat that lends its name to the game, a factory site named Jupiter, as well as many other areas. The player can decide as far as possible how the area is explored and which tasks he undertakes – freedom of action determines the gameplay. Depending on the group to which a player belongs, other groups respond in a friendly or hostile manner.

The player is supported by various weapon systems, many weapon upgrades and several items of equipment. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat uses the time-tested X-Ray graphic engine developed by GSC.

"With S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, we have another high profile title in our portfolio. The fact that we could assert ourselves against internationally established publishers shows the trust placed in us by GSC," says Wolfgang Duhr, director of bitComposer Games. "Together with GSC and our distribution partners, we want to continue the success of the series, so that we can build on this basis in the future".

"Like its predecessor, the latest episode of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe will ensure enthusiasm and adds a great product to our portfolio for this years' Christmas season," says Patrick Rausch, Marketing Director of NAMCO BANDAI Partners Germany. "We’re looking forward to our collaboration with the professional team of bitComposer Games."

"We're anticipating a very successful international release for Call of Pripyat and are happy to work with bitComposer Games to bring this next chapter of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to PC gamers worldwide," says Sergiy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Game World.

Pulled this off there website. Having watched the video l really am looking forward to this!

I'm so glad that all the areas are new, instead of rehashing old ones like CS did. From what I've seen the new areas are much larger and more interesting than the old ones, and they wont be as linear as SoC's were. Now they just have to realize that the underground labs were largely responsible for making the original game so memorable, and include some decent ones in Call of Pripyat.

For some reason I couldn't get that enthused about STALKER as my friends did, and I was the one who recommended it to them in the first place. There was just something about human skulls being invulnerable to bullets that got on my nerves.

Really?  I found the shooting mechanics to be very good, one or two headshots would drop even the strongest enemy.

Lyth: Maybe the mechanics have changed through patches since I played, but that was not my experience.
Seymore: Can the sarcasm, cutie. When I walk up to a guy and unload a magazine into his face, watching sparks fly off the top of his head, I expect him to be dead; not get back up.

The game has just been released on Steam, and in a nice touch, the game is cheaper if you have another STALKER game on your Steam account.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/41700/

Loyalty Promo grants 33% off Call of Pripyat if you already own the Steam Version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. Please note that you need to have Clear Sky or Shadow of Chernobyl registered to your Steam account before purchasing Call of Pripyat to receive the discounted price.
Pretty cool move on their part. Some other companies should look into doing that sort of thing.

So I can get this brand new game for £14.99

What's funny is SoC cost me £3.50 on Steam a year ago in a weekend deal, so even with the added price of buying SoC it's still cheaper. Heh.
