Thoughts on this? I really find it annoying, I like debating but when threads about Obama, economy, bush, war, CIA, ATG and healthcare sprout up, I find my ability to contribute to those topics non-existent.

What Hakei says has some truth. Some non American threads that get started just dont go anywhere. People lose interest in them. Unfortunately the majority of US based threads can also look like we are picking on the US. This is not necessarily the case, we just want our threads to last for more than a couple of posts.
Obama kills fly's is actually about London's Mayor stopping a mugging, and the Israel/Palestine thread is mostly about America.
