So. BT. British Telecom. I never thought i'd be able to hate a company so much.
We've been having a problem for years where BT would constantly be limiting our 'Up to 8Mb' Broadband to 135Kbps downstream, when the router says it's getting 2000-7000Kbps downstream depending on the day. It also had a habit of cutting out entirely very often. We were paying full price this entire time (~£25 a month).
Why didn't we phone them up and try and sort it out? We did. Many many times. These indian call centers are useless. But they're all you get.
Eventually, about a month ago, BT said our line was short circuiting somewhere and they'd put in a new line. They did. And for a few weeks our internet was actually going the speed it was supposed to. It didn't disconnect. I thought that after 2 unbelievably frustrating years (you try spending large amounts of time online with a max download speed of 15KB/s with somebody randomly pulling your internet cable out), I was in the clear, with working internet. Well...
Just in case the picture is confusing:
My router is getting 2000Kbps. BT is limiting it to 135Kbps. At the end of BT's fucking around with our internet, i'm getting 30Kbps. That translates to 3.75KB/s download speeds. It is literally taking several minutes to load each BF2s page. Online gaming is impossible. IT WAS FINE YESTERDAY.
I hate BT so much.
