I mean, if you don't even know about the battles and wars that Muhammad was involved in, that's pretty weak on behalf of yourself. The least you can do is learn the life of the guy (Muhammad), surely.

Hey Bediun, what Arab tribe do you belong to? Did they convert willingly or were they converted after they got their asses kicked by Muhammad
sorry to barge in, but how exactly people can "belong to a religion" not knowing why?Mekstizzle wrote:

the hell does it matter, man? most religions had been forsibly spread at times, and it doesn't seem to bother those who follow them one bit.Mekstizzle wrote:
Whether their ancestors were forcibly converted or not, shit like that. Puts things like religion in a whole different perspective. Especially religions based on expanding and converting like Christianity and Islam.
not yet, so tell me all about how peaceful and tolerant Muhammad was cuz I am gettin getting the feeling the whole damn world might be wrong about him based on your views.Beduin wrote:

As in, not knowing the complete truth, most people probably just assume "that's how it is" and rarely question how their family became what it is. This goes mainly for religions like Christianity and Islam which have a history of violent conquest, but you could probably apply it to most other religions. I'm not really talking about people, I'm talking about families. If you get me. Most "people" just belong to religions because they were brought up by their parents to belong to xyz, it's upto them when they grow up to either stick to what they were told, abandon it or just delve deeper into why it was all like that in the first place.Shahter wrote:

True, I guess. It's lame though.... It depends on what type of person you are. It would matter to some.the hell does it matter, man? most religions had been forsibly spread at times, and it doesn't seem to bother those who follow them one bit.
So Mek... Do you follow Islam?Mekstizzle wrote:

Ok, that was not so hard, was it?Mekstizzle wrote:

Now that we have that out of the way, I'm just intrigued as to what your views are on Muhammad and the stuff he did, because at the end of the day, he even fought and killed loads of Arabs too, and maybe your ancestral side was with or against him, I dunno.
Am sorry lowing if i sound like a smart-ass, but that was the whole idea of seeing that movie. Alot of your questions are answered in the documentary.lowing wrote:

You are in some kinda deep ass denial if you think Islamwatch is the only place that shows just how violent and intolerant Islam is pal.Shahter wrote:

Yes because any area that practices Islam is full of war and violence and hatred. Lowing, someone could pick and choose stories from our own media and think that the US is some outrageously backwards culture and population - in fact, some people do. Why pick and choose stories? Why report and focus on the negatives instead of the positives? Because it fits your agenda. And the media plays right into it. Why bother looking at Imams and Clerics and other religious leaders denouncing violence and promoting peace when you could copy/paste some quotes from Islamwatch and search one of your bookmarked "Islam is bad" websites for backup to your incredibly narrow opinion?lowing wrote:

Funny thing is, I can't seem to find a any place where Islam is shown as a peace loving tolerant religion where everyone lives under Sharia Law in peace and harmony.
Because the MAN that founded that religion, his teachings and his words are universal. Are you telling me that Sharia Law is cherry picking? I am referring to ISLAMIC LAW, I am not picking and choosing shit.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

I see, so now the argument is you have to be a fuckin' theologian or a scholar to have an opinion? Bullshit.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
What do you know about ISLAMIC LAW? You've already mentioned that you don't have a scholarly education in the history of religion, so I'm honestly curious what you know to be fact about the man, the myth, the legend? You've admitted that you haven't read the Quran, so what do you really know about that? Anyone can go to a website and pick and choose quotes/discussions they agree with, but have you done any research on your own?
Yet again you will tell me my opinion is wrong or dismiss it as invalid, yet you brinf nothing to the table to refute it. I bring the entire media and the net, current events, the Koran itself and Sharia Law, you have all of these worldly scholars yet you link me to no one that tells me Islam and Sharia Law is not violent or intolerant.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
No, you are allowed to have all the opinion you want. Feel free to believe whatever you want about anyone, anytime. I hope you realize that it doesn't mean much.
Instead of suggesting to me what my argument is, allow me to tell you it - you are spouting off about something you know very little about. I honestly don't care much about your opinion of Islam so much as I care about the opinion of preeminent scholars, leaders, and everyday followers of Islam.
As for the comment about your opinion being reinforced all over the net and media, allow me a or smiley.
So rant away, maybe I'll pop in again and read what you write, maybe I won't.

No you haven't.the Koran itself
NOT when what they ar doing was practiced and taught by the founder of Islam.Varegg wrote:

Your mistake is to round up current events and believe that all Muslims are like that ...
I suppose you wanna start on a quote contest now?Spark wrote:

no, you don't get it - he doesn't say they are all like that, he says they all should be like that, according to the book, he didn't read. he also thinks that to prove that religion is not violent and intolerant one needs to show it to be non-violent and tolerant.Varegg wrote:
