According to you who is the most recognizable athlete ever, this is based on the athletes: persona, image, popularity, skills, accomplishments and so on.......
Michael Jordan's a close second though

Pele, Michael jordan - maybe purely on terms of being known world wide even david beckham
but would people in Africa know who Tiger Woods is? since they never play golf or people in Asia and other continents and other countries where golf is not that big of a sport?
Ever? Probably MJ.
The internet and modern media helped him.

Basketball is not popular enough globally IMO, so not Jordan.
Possibly Tiger Woods.
I'll go with this man, by no means the best in the world, but in his prime he was pretty darn good. Combine this with the large brand he has built around himself, and the most popular sport in the world, I'd say he is the most recognised athlete across the continents.

I know fucking karate
Jordan is a nobody over here. I seriously doubt many people would know who he was.
Blackbelts are just whitebelts who have never quit.
Who is that? I'm not a soccer fan but maybe I'll recognize his name...justice wrote:

Muhammed Ali.
Michael Jordan, although in 5-10 years it'll probably be Lebron James. NBA has some fans in China, they loved Team USA in the olympics.
Dick Butkis
Barry Sanders
Walter Payton
David Beckham
Maradona
Pele
Muhammad Ali
and of course
you'll gonna love this

Not too long ago: Michael Jordan, maybe even Derek Jeter (don't ask why, I just remember seeing his face everywhere)
Today? Tiger Woods or David Beckham.
