Actually, I just fail at L4D.

Boomer is pretty simple. Just ambush and puke on everybody. Never fails to net me 2-3 people slimed.

Smoker is a bit tricky because you really should only attack when the survivors are under pressure or one is off on his own like a dumbass.

Tank...

Tank is just plain fun if you get close.

I do decent with Boomer sometimes.
Depends on the location of the Survivors and my patience.

Smoker...not so much. The only time I don't fail is at pulling Survivors off places.

I'm a pretty bad Tank too, but I found that using it as a support role makes it a lot easier..

My best time is 10 and a half minutes on the Runway but I think I cheated - for some reason the Tanks all died before I saw them and although I heard Smokers very rarely saw them. Then at about 10:10 I got two tanks, two hunters, a smoker and a thousand regulars.
