The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

yeah.  Found it rather funny.  Newegg had the GTX 295+ on their site for MAYBE a week... i don't even think it was there that long.  now eVGA no longer produces it.  limited production run, and supposedly has a possibility of higher overclockability.

Fuck I need a new CPU, but Im afraid that my PSU will die:

Intel C2D E6600 @ 2.4Ghz Stock and whatnot. (I think its dead. Doesnt run FC2 well. Brothers PC runs it fine (Same specs except for graphics and HDD) as well as friends laptop, which manages to get everything on high, where mine runs shitty on slow)
2GB RAM
1TB HDD (EVERYTHING LOADS SO FUCKING SLOW WORST INVESTMENT EVAR HALP PL0X)
ASUS ENGTX260 (needs replacing. Got it like a month or two ago and shows fan warnings, many problems. Manufacturing fault Im guessing, since 1 week after use the fan stopped working on auto and had to put it permanently on 70% due to heat of day and room).
500 watt random PSU
Non-working TV card
Thermaltake Aguila Black case (door open to keep shit cool.)
2 Samsung DVD drives

Got it in the start of '07. CPU is fucking dead (I think), PSU is retarded, mouse needs replacing due to frayed cable, etc etc...

well.... no smaller than the standard GTX 295.  not sure exactly what they did differently.... or even if the ability to overclock higher is true, since there isn't really a need to overclock the card.

I read a review of the + model and as far as I could tell its identical to the normal by every way... not sure if even the product code is the same... the package was no different.

My GTX 295 is at 666/1436/1198 core/shader/memory and there is still more room to go.

edit: And I did found 3 games in which oc had an impact on gameplay. Not huge but noticable.

Crysis, Crysis: Warhead and World in Conflict in a scenario that had more explosions and tanks etc. than WWII all together...

EVGA GTX 295+ runs at 594MHz, which is an overlock of only 18MHz or 3%, but our tests show that any overclocking on these cards will add to the performance. Shaders are overclocked by 54MHz and the memory by 27MHz compared to the reference GTX 295.

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Aren't GTX295s based on the GTX280? I run my GTX260 on 730/1468/1215, shouldn't GTX280 cores go higher?

actually they are based on GTX 285 cores... at stock voltage they go around 680. extra voltage does wonders for the B3 cores but temps are starting to limit my oc. 93c max load....

edit: actually the gtx 260 cores usually clock a bit higher than GTX 280...
