Okay, first off, don't know why some of you are saying "she better say yes," because it's a PROMISE ring, not an engagement ring. I thought I made that clear in the thread title?

Secondly, some of you think the promise ring is dumb, or an act that says I am not ready for commitment. Read jord's post, he got it right.

I'm getting her this promise ring for now because I want to keep her, but I still need to continue dating her to confirm my already initial thoughts that she'll be a wonderful wife. So give it perhaps a year or two or three, and then I'll get her the engagement ring. Another year or two or three, and we'll be married.

Right now though, we're both still in college, I have at least another 2 years left, her about the same, so it makes sense to not marry in college. And again, jord is right: stupid is getting married at 22.

Additionally, I'm in college = I'm poor. My budget was only $200 because I managed to pick up a small job, where pretty much the majority of my paycheck is going towards this. If I'm going to be getting an engagement ring, I want to get a nice one, so I'll need more cash, which I don't have coming in right now. So that's another reason for getting a promise ring now and not an engagement ring.

Thus, your advice is flawed OrangeHound, simply because you gave it without knowing the circumstances under which the promise ring was chosen over an engagement ring. And no, just to clarify for you, it is NOT a ploy for sex.

Yeah i don't see the problem. He's 22, it is really hard to decide whether he wants to marry her. A promise ring just says 'i want to be with you but we are in college so fuck getting married right now' lol. Commitment? He is 22, he is saying he is pretty sure this is the girl, but he is too young so he will give her a promise ring. That shows both maturity and commitment. If you were 35 and giving your girlfriend a promise ring...theres a problem with commitment there...but not when you are in college.

My photography was more patience and luck, as I'm only using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX7, with it on "macro mode." I just set the ring box (the one the ring is currently sitting in) on my desk, used my fluorescent desk light for lighting (it's a very nice natural-like white light source), and used a white shirt for the backdrop. After numerous repositions and re-aiming the camera so it would focus correctly on the right part (like for the overhead shot, it kept wanting to focus on the band, instead of the stones), I finally got those awesome shots
