If you tell someone 2 + 2 = 4 and they still don't get it, it is only a matter of intelligence because they are literally mentally retarded. If the average person doesn't know this, it's out of ignorance not stupidity.

Firstly, that's the point - as I said, you'd have to live in a cave to not know that 2+2=4 (or that bad debt is bad), but still people don't get that 2+2=4 (bad debt is bad) - how often does one have to scream something at someone until one accepts that that someone lacks the intelligence to understand?

Secondly, then I don't get what your point is. What was it?

How sure are you everyone was paying attention when you screamed it the first time?

My point was your instant-death scenario was a very poor analogy to the current situation, partially because this crisis did not happen overnight.

Actually that is a pretty bad anology, but I will try and work with it.
