lowing, first and foremost, as aussie pointed out, liberals like to debate when they think they're right. It's the thrill of the fight. Other threads on the other hand get closed because some douche started name calling and whatnot, because they don't think they can win by honest debate/discussion.
Lets go through some logic here.
Facts:
1. Black people and minorities in general tend to vote Democrat. The Democratic party is much more diverse than the GOP.
2. Lots of blacks and minorities are going to vote for Obama not only beacuse of his race, but because he's also a Democrat.
3. Lots of white Democrats are going to vote for him not only because he's a Democrat, but because he'd be the first non-pure white president, ever.
4. If the poll is correct, lots of white Democrats are going to either not vote or vote for someone else, not because he's a a Republican obviously, but because he's not entirely white. This fits the definition of racism. They do not want to vote for someone because of their race, not the issues they stand for. However, if a white person votes for him simply because they want a non-white in the office, does that count as racism? I wouldnt say so... maybe you'd say differently.
Yes there's a double standard..... but it's a very narrow double-standard. The poll showed huge numbers of apparently racist Democrats, and now you guys are on the defensive? Defensive from what? The poll, if correct, proves that not even the Democrats are as progressive as they'd some of them would like to be.
I think you're on the defensive because it implies that some racist Dems might be voting for McCain instead. And you guys somehow think that implies that white racists will only vote for McCain. And of course black racists are only going to vote for Obama.... but wait, they were most likely going to vote for a Democrat anyway, and by that stats, defintely were not going to vote Republican. That's my argument. Take it or leave it.
@ usmarine... every important person supporting Obama is trying to do the exact opposite of playing the race card.... Al Sharpton included. It would do more harm than good. Lots of people know that race will be an issue in the election.... just that no one wants to talk about it.
