Damn, wasn't like that when I went to school. You failed, you repeated the grade. Plain and simple.
Again, they're rewarding the stupid for their stupidity.

Idiocracy was a HORRIBLE movie. Plain and simple. But it does show the future, sort of.Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:
This is so funny. I just watched a movie yesterday called Idiocracy. It was made by the same guy that did Beavis & Butthead, and King of the Hill. Wow, after reading this and watching that show, the obvious dumbing down of America is quite apparent.
It ONE Independant school district, that is seriously fucked up. Their graduation rate is between 50-60%. Utterly failing is an understatement. Their Administration has been under the scope of many criminal investigations over the last few years. Mainly teachers spending the schools money on personal things like computers home furnishings and such. Its sad, really sad that their proposition to "making the grade" is to let the kids get passing grades by allowing this. If you set the expectation low that's what you will get.=NHB=Shadow wrote:

I graduated from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. One of the top ISD'd in the state and is the 100th best High School in the nation. Its only 15 miles away. So this is about Dallas ISD, not Texas.
Whats wrong with Texas you ask? Same thing in every other race and place. At least 10% are the low life, ingrates that cant be honest with them selves or anyone else in life. It not just Texas folks, its in every industry, career field, country, race, and if you dont believe me, it's coming to a city near you...Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Was DISD one of the districts they were investigating as far as cheating on the TAKS/TAAS tests? I know there were quite a few under investigation, I don't remember if DISD was one but I wouldn't be surprised...

Yes DISD was investigated, I think 2 years ago, for allowing cheating on the TAKS/TAAS ( the test you must pass in Reading/writing/ math to graduate) to go on with no consequences. Seriously this ISD's administration is as corrupt and ludicrous as John Willey Price. I hope the new mayor can help his city's ISD turn around as much as the Dallas Police force seems to have improved in the last two years.
More PC from liberal idiology. We must drag along every idiot that will one day be able to vote for a democrat.xstax981 wrote:

Are you serious? Here are some of the "fair rules" they have set:They have to be joking. Not looking good.1. Homework grades should be given only when the grades will raise a student's average, not lower it
2. Teachers must accept overdue assignments, and a principal will decide whether students are to be penalized for missing deadlines.
3. Students who flunk a test can retake the exam and keep the higher grade
4. Teachers cannot give a zero on an assignment unless they call parents and make "efforts" to assist students in completing the workThis man has the right idea.Ray Cox wrote:
It's like we're sending the message to kids that deadlines don't matter, studying is optional, and no matter how little you do, you're still [going to] pass all your classes anyway
The worst part about it?At least let the board decide what's fair and what's not.The new guidelines were developed by district staff and did not require school board approval.
Sorry for the rant, it just grates on me how this can happen. Next thing you know, sleeping in class will give you an automatic A+++, recommendations to Ivy League schools, and get you placed on a pedestal while wreaths and cookies are thrown to you.
lol dude I go to PISD, I was parodying the fact that no one is freakin paying attention when I say this is an isolated incident, so when you did it I sarcastically played dumb...(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

Horseshit1. Homework grades should be given only when the grades will raise a student's average, not lower it
Why not just have the principal set a policy instead of having him/her do a case-by-case determination? Can you imagine the overhead associated with this when you have over 10,000 kids at a single school (like they have in Dallas)? Horseshit.2. Teachers must accept overdue assignments, and a principal will decide whether students are to be penalized for missing deadlines.
Actually not a completely bad idea, so long as the test isn't identical the second time around.3. Students who flunk a test can retake the exam and keep the higher grade
And horseshit.4. Teachers cannot give a zero on an assignment unless they call parents and make "efforts" to assist students in completing the work

if you want to really look at failing public schools, look at West Virginia.
They don't have to be cater the majority realize that they can't go to college in USA, but they don't want to go back to Mexico(Mostly because of family) so they just drop out half way through.ATG wrote:
