another Q about the PSU, can the power be lowered, from 700W to about 500W to save on electricity with software or something?
or should i get a 450-500W PSU instead?

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135197/sh … t_overview

the reason i like this PSU is because the amount of connectors it has!

Graphics card wise, i have been told the one mentioned isn't very good

Nvidia 9600 is cheaper and about as good, i have been told

Also, Ram wise this is cheaper than the corsair and same in specs

That RAM is good too.

9600GT is almost exactly same performing as HD3870. Pick the one you find cheaper. Or if you prefer nvidia/ati, go for what you like.

ok, i'll get that ram to save a few quid.

I'll keep looking for a decent GPU that would Run Vista home premium 64 bit with no issues.

PSU Q, is that 700W too much power???
how much should i get to save on electricity?

That PSU is really around there. It's just "rated" at 700w. It's not a really good brand. You won't save any cash on electricity with a lower-end PSU, as it'll only use as much power as your computer needs, not a constant 700w.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

might keep it then if thats the case

Just the graphics card then. I will need a VGA-to-DVI cable , only a few quid. I don't want a new monitor as windows 7 is out soon and thats touch screen, im thinking of the future .

3650 is more of a HTPC kind of GPU, the HD3850 is okayish.

But the 3870 is faster than both of them.

£37 more for the cheapest 4850 though ... worlds apart in terms of performance.

The 3870 is generally faster. About 1/3 faster.

Because it isn't same priced. It's £40 more. Which blows this way out of budget. Since he won't be doing any hardcore OCing, either, the CPU would bottleneck it, too.

Are there any reviews comparing those two cards? I haven't seen any yet.

@rammi thats expensive yes. Try different stores, they are priced the same in Germany.
Second link-I would definitely recommend 8800GT 512. Its a good card for the price, better than 3870.

As for the Zotac 8800GT, don't get it. I've read about Zotac cards falling apart on site, frying, etc. Never go for the cheapest brand.

Didn't see rammi said 3850. I meant hows 3870 compared to 4850. And don't reply in such a cocky way.
