My Job was to stack shelves at the local supermarket, unskilled, untrained, menial labour.
My base pay rate was $14.91 an hour, but depending on what times and days I worked, I got penalty rates up to $33.55 an hour (on a public holiday). Now take into consideration my pay would have gone up every 6 months for 3 years by about 30-40c an hour each time because of the union agreement (which I wasn't even part of yet still gained the benefits from). And on my birthday until I was 21 (was 19 at the time) my base pay would go up an extra $1.50 or so an hour. So if I was working now, I would be making more like base pay of $20 an hour before penalties,.
Also I didn't have a permanent shift so depending on how free I was and if the business wanted me I worked anything from 5-40 hours a week. here some of the hours and pay I got per week.
23.75 hours = $408.70
25.54 hours = $562.37
23.02 hours = $386.62
25.00 hours = $423.35
21.15 hours = $466.18
21.50 hours = $366.86
22.98 hours = $390.00
19.87 hours = $332.86
6.60 hours = $171.39
6.15 hours = $161.39
And if I was working now in the same job, I would be getting about 25-30% more.
