Answer to the teen pregnancy and to the "I don't have a daddy" syndrome consuming our country.

MY LAW

1. If a person under the age of 18 gets a female pregnant he should be forced to marry the woman until the child is at least 5 or the youngest person in the couple turns 23, whichever comes first.
*1a. No divorce allowed.  Any separation of the couple will result in a jail time that lasts the duration of the preceding contract for the person who leaves.

2. If the man in question gets another woman pregnant during the time of the contract, that man must also marry the second female and support both families.  Vice versa for the female.
*2a. If a female marries more than 3 men, she will be sent to an all female prison for the remainder of the newest contract.

3. If the man cannot afford to support his family(s), he must work for the goverment doing community service or public projects at a fixed rate 6 days a week for the remainder of the contract.  If he does not, he will go to jail for the remainder of the contract.

4. Females will have the option of either:
*Supporting the children.
*Sending the children to a day care at her own expense and working 6 days a week until the end of the contract.

Moral of the law:  Keep it in your pants or face the consequences of being a parent.
Results: Lower teen pregnancy, lower single parent situations and lower crime rates in the future.

I honestly believe that the more children that have good parents (BOTH PARENTS) and that have the oppurtunity of a family with a stable income will grow up to be less involved with drugs/crime/teen pregnancy etc etc.  Children need their parents to teach them right from wrong and the best way for children to learn this from their parents is to either a) have parents that were smart enough to not make this mistake themselves or b) have parents that did make this mistake and can relate the consequences to their children personally.

Discuss.  Good idea, bad idea?

Mandatory Birth Control pills (or what ever method medically safe for the teen) until they are legally married or the age of 25.

I know this pisses all over certain religeons, so once that massive hurdle is  (if ever)overcome, we'd be sitting pretty.

EDIT: if the birth control fails, then sate aid can be applied.  If this method were enacted, there would ba alot less state aid cases, and for those few times when the birth control fails (unfair to the teen)  the extra state aid money in the now less bigger welfare needy community would help the parent out better.

Or, if someone gets pregnant, and it is found they were negligent on the Birth Control, they will get state aid (as a low low interest loan) which will have to be repaid, or garnished from wages, once it is deemed they have sufficient wages.

I do like your idea, i was just throwing in my two cents too.

Why would you think they disagree?

Also, what do you think of abortion fitting into this plan? Legalize it, force either abortion or the above. Woman's choice.

I think the answer to "I don't have a daddy" syndrome is "adult film star".

I don't think forcing people to do things is ever the answer, regardless of religion or whatever.  Fiction and non-fiction alike have taught us that.

We need to teach people to be responsible for their actions.

Bad idea.  People don't like the Govt. controlling every aspect of their life.

I don't like male pricks getting a teen pregnant then leaving, making the women the only one who pays for the mistake and gives the kid an unsatisfactory upbringing.

Certainly not always the case, but it is enough of the time to warrant drastic measures.

Maybe it's just me but most the women I have met have been very possessive when it comes to men.

Oh, so you're talking very specifically about the polygamy part.

Well, what about on the second woman, the man still has to support the second child monetarily, but instead of marrying the second woman he is castrated/sterilized?

Fuck the pill. Those things give women cancer. I like women. A lot. I wouldn't want a world were every 50-60 year old woman has missing tits or no reproductive organs.

Ahem... FUCK NO. This sounds exactly like Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.

1) Your destroing freedom of choice
2) this wont solve the problem (people forget to take pills)
3) FREEDOM (so important I had to mention it twice)

It's not just religion you're going to have to fight. Realistically, there's not a cold chance in hell this could ever get voted in.

So like... was that meant to be serious? Because it was a good laugh.

Forcing these people together (and in many cases in a polygamous situation) would be more detrimental to the child than having a single carer.

They will never take OUR FREEDOM!

Seriously though, the government should not be allowed to force underage people what to do.  It is the job of the parent(s) to raise the children, not the government.  That being said, I agree 100% with making birth control (or other medically safe contraceptives) available to the public at large.  I also support lowering the age of consent to 16 between two teenagers as far as statutory rape laws.

From a practical view, your ideas would be the basis for a total restructuring of family law.

Whats to stop the husband/wife from killing each other to end the contract?  Jail time either way, atleast one way you'd get your anger out.

Unrealistic to limit freedom to such a degree and then put threats behind it to enforce it.  I hate what happens to the chidlren in these situations as much as the next person, but this plan would never work.

The solution, as in most cases, lies in education and reform.

Making birthcontrol more accessible, and teaching kids more about it. But the difference between that and current sex ed/health ed courses would be that they would go into the details of how it can fuck up your life if you knock someone up when you don't mean to, whether it be in wedlock or not. Second, reforms to the family law acts promoting financial and emotional support. What this means is that unmarried couples with kids would get pretty much the same deal as married couples (support, contact etc).

The answer isn't forcing people to get married, and then creating a like... chain/web of marriages, which would hurt the child more than having a single parent.
