Wasn't there a reason for that being disabled here? And didn't we see what happened when that was introduced on the temp forums?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It's not so much that there are different types of poll (though there are), there are more features to the standard polls. Features such as: set max number of choices, set start date, set duration and more.

Overall site, maybe...Forum...NO! Chuy said it himself that it would be disapointing (we all know he meant sucky). But i keep faith that he will make it as good as bf2s is. Hey, are we going to have our Junk Drawer back?

Methinks that by "disappointing", he meant ergonomically and aesthetically, not community-wise.

I always figured it'd eventually change to BF3S.com.

Can't be right about everything.

Please take some time reading the first post in this topic. As for you believing BF2 is not hitting the end of it's lifespan, minor lol.

The thing is I'm guessing most members including myself, only came to know BF2s existed because of the game its self.  With new BF2 players becoming a rarity, that means less traffic for this site, and less traffic would ultimately mean the death of BF2s.

The new website appears far more versatile than BF2s, just think of it as moving to a bigger and better house.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

BF2s is being upgraded ... trackr is the upgrade.

Here are some of the major changes that are coming with trackr:
  • Since our community is focusing on more games than just BF2s, we are changing the name to a more generic name:  trackr
  • The Wiki will be more games than just BF2 ... at present, trackr has 6 games in the wiki with more to come!
  • The underlying software is changing from punBB to Drupal.  This gives the site a much more unified look and much more flexibility.
  • With trackr, members can form "groups", send PMs to multiple users, etc. ... PMs with multiple replies now look like a thread (much better).
  • With trackr, your profile has links to the stats of multiple games ... for example TF2 stats
  • Members (or at least approved members) have the ability to submit news, game releases, game reviews, changes to the wiki, etc.
  • Polls have much more power and flexibility, including the ability to have it only run for a certain length of time, such as 24  hours.
  • Images in your posts can be hosted on trackr (unless Jeff turns off this feature or it starts getting abused).  No longer will you have to worry about 3rd party sites blocking your images because of too much bandwidth.
  • The site has a calendar which allows us to coordinate events, gatherings ...
  • No longer will you need to search the net for downloads, because those are all indexed on trackr
  • Clans can automatically register and update their information on a powerful clan database, showing games they play, region they are located, etc.

Again, BF2s has outgrown both its name and its software.  Like moving from Windows 98 to XP, we are just upgrading ... and you will be excited about this new software!
